
2. Turn the Or-Off control to the "On" position
and allow sufflcient time for the tubesto warm
up.
3. Thread tape as described under "Threading the
Tapet'.
4. Depress Record-play control knob and turn to
PIay position.
5. AdjustVolume controluntil recordinglevel indi-
cator flashes on high peaks only.
To record from a radio, phonograph, or televi-
gion recelver, follow this same procedur-e. Set the
Volume eontrol at normal level. Stop the recordingi
by turning the Record-Play control to t}re Stop posi-'
tion.
To Wind or Rewind Tape
l. Set Record-Play control to Stop poeitlon.
2. Wind the tape onto the left (take-up) reel by mov-
ing the Fast Forward control to tre right and
holduntil the dedred portionof tape is reached.
To stop the tape release the control.
3. To revlnd the tape, move the Rewind control to
the left and hold until the deslredportlon of tape
lsreached. Release the control to stop thetapi.
To Play a Recording
l" Follow lnstructions under "Threading the Tape".
2. Turn on recorder and allow gufficient time for
tubes to warm up.
3. T\rrn Record-Play control to the play posidon.
4. Adjust Volume control for deglred listening
level.
5. Ttrn Record-Playcontrol to Stop positionat the
end of the recording.
CAUTI0N: Do not depress Record-playcontrol
when playback ie desired as prevlously re-
corded materlal on tre tape will be auto-
matically erased.
Erasing Recorded Material
Any recording on the tape is automatically
erased as nen material is belng recorded. To erase
a recording without putting new material on the tape,
follow the normal recording procedrre, but leave the
mlcrophone disconnected and the Vohime control at
its extreme counterclockwlse position.
To Edit and Splice Tape
J{QJ[; Since one track cannot be edited and
epliced without affecting the other track,
recordings to be edlted should be limitei
to one track only.
l. Tape may beedited by cuttingout unvanted por_
tions or'by rejoining lelectio-ns into another se-
quence. Announcements may be insertedbetween
selections etc. Unused sections can be spliced
for reuse.
2. For best results, cut tape at a slight diagonal
and join ends rpit} splicing tape on the gtossy
side. Trim off any excess vidth.
Dual-Track Recording

Step 2.
To Remove Recorder from Case
l. Remove case top.
2. Remove tvo screnrs from rear of case and two
acrews from bottom of case.
3. Lift transport and amplifier out of case far
enough to unsolder speaker wires.
4. Remove recorder from case.
To Remove Amplifier f rom Tape Transprt
l. Disconnect the two wlres from the record-play
head.
2. Remove the top wire from the erase head.
3. Remove the strield wire from tre record head
mounting bolt.
4. Remove four hex head sheet metal screws, two
located at each end of the transport baseplate.
DISASSEMBLY
CLEAN ING
. The.presnure roller(l?), capstan shaft, record-
ing head (46), and erase head (12) u,Ut accumulate
tape oxide coating, which rrears off t}re tape as it
panses tlese parts. Thfs oxide accumulation will
cause poor performance of the recorder. Clean these
parts with a cotton appllcator dlpped in head cleaner.
