SAFETY WARNINGS AND REGULATIONS
m
WARNINGS
– After having removed the packaging
make sure that the product supplied is
integral and complete in all its parts. If
this is not the case, please contact the
Dealer who sold the appliance.
– The appliance must be used as intend-
ed by
Sime who is not responsible for
any damage caused to persons, ani-
mals or things, improper installation,
adjustment, maintenance and improp-
er use of the appliance.
– In the event of water leaks, disconnect
the appliance from the mains pow-
er supply, close the water mains and
promptly inform professionally quali-
fied personnel.
– Periodically check that the operating
pressure of the water heating system
when cold is
1-1.2 bar . If this is not the
case, increase the pressure or contact
professionally qualified personnel.
– If the appliance is not used for a long
period of time, at least one of the fol-
lowing operations must be carried out:
-
set the main system switch to "OFF";
- close the gas and water valves for the
water heating system.
– In order to ensure optimal appliance
operations Sime recommends that
maintenance and checks are carried
out ONCE A YEAR .

WARNINGS
– It is recommended that all operators
read this manual carefully in order to
use the appliance in a safe and rational
manner.
–
This manual is an integral part of the
appliance. It must therefore be kept
for future reference and must always
accompany the appliance in the event
the appliance is transferred or sold to
another Owner or User or is installed
on another system.
–
Installation and maintenance of this
appliance must be carried out by a
qualified company or by a profession-
ally qualified technician in accordance
with the instructions contained in the
manual. Once the work is complete,
the company or technician will issue a
declaration of conformity with national
and local technical standards and leg-
islation in force in the country where
the appliance will be used.
–
Any repairs on the appliance must be
carried out solely by professional-
ly qualified personnel, using original
spare parts only. Failure to comply with
these instructions can jeopardise the
appliance’s safety and void the warran-
ty with immediate effect.
–
Fonderie SIME S.p.A. reserves the right
to make improvements to its prod-
ucts at any time without prior notice,
without compromising their essential
characteristics. The graphic illustra-
tions and/or images in this document
may show optional accessories that
vary according to the country in which

RESTRICTIONS

IT IS FORBIDDEN
– To allow children under the age of 8 to
use the appliance. The appliance can
be used by children no younger than
8 years old, by people with physical
or cognitive disabilities, and by people
lacking experience or the necessary
knowledge, provided that they are su-
pervised or have been instructed on
how to use the appliance safely and
that they understand the risks associ-
ated with it.
– To allow children to play with the ap-
pliance.
–To allow unsupervised children to per-
form user maintenance and cleaning.
–To use electrical devices or appliances
such as switches, electrical appliances
etc if you can smell fuel. If this should
happen:
-
open the doors and windows to air the
room;
- close the gas isolation device;
- promptly call for professional assis-
tance.
– To touch the appliance with bare feet or
with any wet part of the body.
– Do not carry out any technical inter-
vention or cleaning operation unless
the appliance has been disconnected
from the mains power by setting the
system to “OFF”, and before shutting
off the supply of fuel and of water from
the hydraulic circuit.

– To modify the safety or adjustment
devices without authorization and in-
structions from the manufacturer.
– To block the condensate drain (if pres-
ent).
–To pull, detach or twist the electrical
cables coming out of the appliance
even if the appliance is disconnected
from the mains power supply.
– To block or reduce the size of the venti-
lation openings of the room where the
appliance is installed, if present.
– Remove the mains power and gas sup-
ply from the appliance if the external
temperature could fall below ZERO
(risk of freezing).
– To leave containers with flammable
substances in the room where the ap-
pliance is installed.
–To dispose of the packaging material
irresponsibly as it could be danger-
ous. Packaging must be disposed of as
specified by the legislation in force in
the country where the appliance will be
used.
– To use the appliance with diesel con-
taining a mixture of biofuel greater
than 10%.

1.2 Preliminary checks
The initial start-up of the ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE boiler
must be carried out by professionally qualified personnel, after
which the appliance can function automatically. It may be neces-
sary for the user to restart the appliance autonomously, without
contacting the technician; for example, after a holiday. In this
case, the following checks and operations must be carried out:
– check that the fuel and water circuit shut-off valves are open

Sime ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE boilers are NOT
equipped with a system filling device. The system
must be fitted with a pressure gauge (A), to check that
the (cold) water pressure is between 1 and 1.2 bar
(98–117.6 kPa) and a loading/filling valve (B).
– check on the pressure gauge (A) that the pressure of the heat-
ing system, when cold, is
1–1.2 bar . If not, open the filling valve
(B) and refill the heating system until the pressure gauge (A)
shows a reading of
1–1.2 bar
– close the filling valve (B).

1.3 Ignition
After completing the preliminary checks, to start up the boiler:
– adjust the room thermostat to the desired temperature (~
20°C)
– set the main system switch to "ON"

– adjust the calorifier thermostat (4) to roughly 3/4 of the ad-
justment range (corresponding to roughly 50°C)
–adjust the heating thermostat (5) to roughly 3/4 of the adjust-
ment range (corresponding to roughly 75°C)
–press the main switch (8) on the control panel and verify that
the green LED switches on (3)

The burner will pre-heat the fuel (for burners equipped with fuel
pre-heaters) and perform the pre-ventilation cycle; it will then
ignite the flame and operate at maximum power until the tem-
perature set on the calorifier thermostat is reached.
Once the domestic hot water calorifier has heated up, the boiler
will switch to heating mode.
The thermometer will show the temperature value of the water
in the appliance, measured at that time.

1.4 Adjusting the heating temperature
If the heating temperature must be increased or decreased,
turn the knob (5) until the desired value is reached. The temper-
ature can be set to between 45 and 85°C.

WARNING
To ensure constantly optimal performance of the gen-
erator, we suggest
NOT to adjust the heating thermostat
to below the 60°C working temperature
.

1.5 Adjusting the hot water temperature
If the domestic hot water (DHW) temperature must be in-
creased or decreased, turn the knob (4) until the desired value
is reached. The temperature can be set to between 30 and 60°C.

CAUTION
For the boiler to be able to produce domestic water,
the air contained in the calorifier coil must first be
purged upon the initial start-up.
To facilitate this operation, before starting up the appliance,
position the slot of the screw that releases the check valve (1)
horizontally. After purging all the air, put the screw back into its
original position.

WARNING
If the domestic hot water storage tank has not been
used for a period of four weeks, sanitise the calori-
fier and the domestic hot water expansion vessel. To
perform this operation, exclusively contact the Sime
Technical Support Service or professionally qualified
personnel.
1.6 Possible faults
1.6.1 Safety thermostat
The manual-reset safety thermostat intervenes by triggering
the immediate lock-out of the burner, when the temperature
exceeds 100°C. The intervention of the safety thermostat is not
signalled but can be detected by the boiler thermostat (T>100°
C). To reactivate the appliance, wait until the temperature in-
dicated by the thermostat falls to roughly 75° C then unscrew
the protective cap and press the underlying shaft. Wait for the
completion of the fuel pre-heating and start-up phases until the
flame appears.

WARNING
If the reactivation fails, DO NOT REPEAT it and wait for
qualified technical personnel to intervene.
1.6.2 Burner lock-out
If any ignition or operating anomalies occur, the boiler will run
a “LOCK-OUT” and the
PSB button will light up red. To reset the
burner ignition conditions, press the burner unlock button (PSB)
until the flame appears. This operation can be repeated 2–3
times at the most and, should it fail, wait for qualified technical
personnel to intervene.

WARNING
Check that there is enough fuel in the tank and that the
shut-off valves are open. Once the tank has been filled, it
is advisable to interrupt the boiler’s operation for roughly
one hour.

1.6.3 System low pressure (replenishment)
Sime ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE boilers are NOT equipped
with a system filling device. The system must be fitted with a
pressure gauge (A), to check that the (cold) water pressure is
between
1 and 1.2 bar (98–117.6 kPa) and a loading/filling valve
(B).
When the system water pressure indicated on the pressure
gauge (A) falls below
1 bar (98 kPa) , the unit must be filled.
To do this:
– open the filling valve (B) to raise the pressure until it reaches
the correct value, between
1 and 1.2 bar (98–117.6 kPa)
– close the valve (B)

LED (D) : The LED will signal the pump status on the basis of its
colour when lit, as shown below.

Lit green : normal operation

Off : request professionally qualified personnel to intervene

tervene
–
Lit red : press the (E) button for 5 seconds to activate the man-
ual reset. If the pump fails to start, request the intervention of
professionally qualified personnel.

2 SHUTDOWN
2.1 Temporary shutdown
If the user is away temporarily, for a weekend, short trip etc and
if the outside temperature is at ZERO:
– press the main switch (8) to switch off the boiler

If the boiler is to be left unused for a long period, the following
operations need to be carried out:
– press the main switch (8) to switch off the boiler

3 MAINTENANCE
3.1 Adjustments
For the appliance to operate correctly and efficiently it is recom-
mended that the User calls upon the services of a Professionally
Qualified Technician to carry out
ANNUAL maintenance.

CAUTION
Maintenance must ONLY be carried out by qualified
professionals who follow the indications provided in
the INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUC-
TIONS.
3.2 External cleaning
3.2.1 Cleaning the cladding
When cleaning the cladding, use a cloth dampened with soap
and water or alcohol for stubborn marks.

IT IS FORBIDDEN
to use abrasive products.

WARNING
– Should it be necessary to access the zones in the
rear part of the appliance, make sure that the sys-
tem’s components or pipes are not too hot (risk of
burns).
–Before performing any maintenance, put on protec-
tive gloves.
4 DISPOSAL
4.1 Disposal of the equipment (European Di-
rective 2012/19/EU)
At the end of their life span, the appliance
and electrical and electronic devices coming
from households or classifiable as household
waste must be delivered to appropriate waste
collection systems, in accordance with the law
and with Directive 2012/19/EU. This product
was designed and manufactured for minimis-
ing its impact on the environment and on hu-
man health, but it contains components that
could be detrimental if managed improperly.
The symbol (crossed-out wheelie bin) depict-
ed here and also appearing on your appliance
means that the appliance at the end of its life
must be managed in accordance with the law
and treated as electrical and electronic waste.
Before delivering the appliance for its disposal,
consult the applicable provisions of the laws in
force in the country where the appliance is used
and get information on the authorised waste
disposal facilities by contacting the relevant lo-
cal offices.

5 DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLIANCE
5.1 Characteristics
Sime ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE cast iron boilers are configured for operating with diesel blown-air Low NOx burners. They are spe-
cially designed for users who privilege high performances, silent operation and compact dimensions.
ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE boilers are the versions for space heating and for domestic hot water production with a stainless steel cal-
orifier that stores up to 110 litres. They can be
TYPE B23P (open) devices, when the burner draws combustion air from the environment
in which they are installed, therefore the room MUST include adequate vents sized according to the laws in force in the country where
the appliance is used. They can be converted into
TYPE C23P (sealed) devices, using the available accessories kits (refer to the para-
graph
6.1.1 Optional accessories ) which allow the appliance to draw combustion air directly from outside the room where it is installed.
The broad heat exchange surface of the cast iron body allows to obtain high performances that ensure considerable savings in terms
of running costs.
5.2 Operation
Prior to starting up the boiler, we suggest setting the calorifier
thermostat (4) and the heating thermostat (5) to roughly 3/4 of
the adjustment range (respectively around 50 and 75°C), shift-
ing the switch (9) to Winter mode and then activating the general
and main switches (8) to power the appliance electrically. The
green signalling LED (3) will light up to signal that the system
is powered.
When a heat request arrives, with the room thermostat or the
calorifier thermostat in request mode, the fuel will start heating
(for burners equipped with fuel pre-heaters) for a few minutes
with the burner stationary, then burner pre-ventilation will start
followed by the subsequent ignition of the flame and the starting
up of the system pump and/or calorifier.
The flame will remain on until the temperature set through
thermostats (4) and (5) of the control panel has been reached,
while the system pump continues to operate in order to use the
heat generated (available). The burner will then switch on and
off in an alternating manner until the temperature requested by
the room thermostat requesting heat is reached.
The temperature of the water contained in the cast iron body will
appear on the thermometer (2).

CAUTION
The diagram of the operating sequences/phases is
shown in the documentation supplied with the burner
installed.
If there is a domestic hot water request, during heating mode
operation, the boiler will automatically switch the operating
mode to satisfy the current request.

5.3 Check and safety devices
ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE appliances are equipped with the
following control and command devices:
– thermal safety thermostat 100°C
– 3 bar relief valve
– heating thermostat (min 45°C - max 85°C)
– calorifier thermostat (min 30°C - max 60°C)
– water pressure switch
– minimum-temperature thermostat
– temperature-limit thermostat.

To commission the appliance with safety devices
which do not work or which have been tampered with.

Safety device may only be replaced by professional
qualified personnel using
Sime original spare parts.
5.4 Identification
The ESTELLE B4 e B5 INOX ErP BE boilers can be identified by means of:
1 Packaging label: located on the outside of the packaging, it includes the code and serial number of the boiler in addition to the
barcode.
2 Technical data plate: it is located on the right-hand side of the boiler and includes the technical data, appliance performance data
and any other information required by law in the country where the appliance will be used.

When the burner is installed at altitudes up to maximum 1300 m.a.s.l., due to the lower air density, the factory adjustments for the
burner must be modified as follows:
– Keep the nozzle mounted in the factory
– Do not vary the position of the combustion head
– Gradually reduce the pump pressure to reduce the fuel flow rate
– Adjust the air shutter by taking the following readings:
- CO
2 (%)
- CO (ppm) (as per the regulations in force)
- Bacharach index (≤ 0,5)
- Flue gas temperature.

5.13.1 Selecting the operating mode and the charac-

The adjustment mode and the corresponding characteristic
curves are selected in the following way:
– press, once or several times, for roughly 1s the command button

5.14.1 Bleeding the pump
The pump bleed function can be activated by pressing the com-
mand button 3 for at least (4) seconds; the pump will bleed au-
tomatically.
This function is used to bleed the pump ONLY and not the heat-
ing system.
5.14.2 Manual restart
The manual restart can be activated by pressing for at least 5
seconds the command button (4), which unlocks the pump after
extended periods of inactivity (e.g. after a summer shutdown) or
following a pump lock-out.

5.14.3 Locking/unlocking the button
The keypad lock is activated by long pressing (8 seconds) the
command button (4) and it blocks the pump settings. The key-
pad lock protects the pump against involuntary/unauthorised
changes to the pump.
5.14.4 Activating factory settings
The factory setting can be activated by pressing and holding the
command button (4) until the LED (1) switches off. After restart-
ing the pump, the latter will operate with the factory setting (its
condition on delivery).
5.14.5 Manual restart
When a block is detected, the pump attempts to restart auto-
matically.
If the pump does not restart automatically:
– press the command button (4) for 5 seconds then release it
– the restart function activates for a maximum of 10 minutes
– LEDs (2) and (3) will flash one after the other clockwise.
After the restart, LEDs (2) and (3) will indicate the settings be-
fore the lock-out.

CAUTION
To interrupt the pump’s operation, press the com-
mand button (4) for 5 seconds.

If the fault persists, please contact the Technical As-
sistance Centre.
