Fully insert the 4 screws until they contact the strut mount / top plate.
Fit the pins to the relevant holes for the assembly being compressed.
Note: The pins should fit around the outside of the spring.
Press the ‘up’ pedal to compress the spring to the desired compression.
Follow these instructions in reverse to decompress and remove the spring once the
operation is complete.

SAFETY SYMBOLS USED THROUGHOUT THIS MANUAL
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Danger / Caution: Indicates risk of personal injury and/or the possibility of
damage.
IMPORTANT: Please read the following instructions carefully, failure to
do so could lead to serious personal injury and / or damage to the
spring compressor.
When using your spring compressor, basic safety precautions should always be fol-
lowed to reduce the risk of personal injury and / or damage to the spring compressor
or load.
Read all of these instructions before operating the spring compressor and save this
user manual for future reference.
The spring compressor should not be modified or used for any application other than
that for which it was designed.
The spring compressor is designed to remove the tension from a strut assembly so that
it can be safely disassembled for service and then reassembled afterwards where
necessary.
If you are unsure of its relative applications do not hesitate to contact us and we will
be more than happy to advise you.
Before operating the spring compressor always check no parts are broken and that no
parts are missing.
Always operate the spring compressor safely and correctly.
KNOW YOUR SPRING COMPRESSOR: Read and understand the owner's manual and
labels affixed to the spring compressor. Learn its applications and limitations, as well
as the potential hazards specific to it.
KEEP CHILDREN AND UNTRAINED PERSONNEL AWAY FROM THE WORK AREA: All visitors
should be kept at a safe distance from the work area; never allow untrained persons
to operate the spring compressor.
STAY ALERT: Always watch what you are doing and use common sense.
NEVER LEAVE THE SPRING COMPRESSOR UNATTENDED: When in use / under load.
HAVE YOUR SPRING COMPRESSOR REPAIRED BY A QUALIFIED PERSON: The spring com-
pressor is in accordance with the relevant safety requirements. Repairs should only be
carried out by qualified persons using original spare parts, otherwise this may result in
considerable danger to the user and void the warranty.

Fit the safety cable and close and lock the safety cage.

Fit and straighten the spring assembly over the lower clamps as previously de-
scribed (in the main manual).
Note: Turn the screws until the bottom of the thread is in line with the bot-
tom of the plate.
Note: Fit the spring assembly with the spring compressor set at the resting
position rather than the starting position.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Press the ‘up’ pedal to raise the spring until it makes contact with the universal
plate.
Note: You may need to raise the spring assembly to allow the safety cable
to be fitted; Use the lower clamp adjusters to raise the spring.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Fully retract the upper clamp adjusters to hold the plate securely (see page 9).
Loosely fit the 4 screws into the 4 threaded holes on the plate (page 9).
Fit the universal plate over both upper clamp adjuster shafts (below, left).
Secure with the rings provided; Line up the gap on the ring with the tab on the
shaft, slide the ring up and over the tab and rotate it.

Unlock and lift the safety cage (see main instruction manual for the spring compres-
sor).
Remove the 2 upper clamps; Twist the clamps until the channel lines up with tab on
the clamp adjuster shaft and slide the clamps downwards and off (see below).

DANGER! Check that the spring compressor is in sound condition and good working
order before each use; Take immediate action to repair or replace damaged parts.
WARNING! Only operate on a level and stable surface and never use on soft ground
where the spring compressor is likely to “sink” whilst in operation.
NEVER STAND ON THE SPRING COMPRESSOR: The spring compressor is not designed
for this purpose.
DO NOT dismantle or tamper with the spring compressor, as this may be dangerous
and will invalidate the warranty.
If a problem with the spring compressor is experienced or suspected stop using
the spring compressor immediately and contact your distributor for repair.
Do not attempt to compress a load that exceeds the rated capacity of the spring
compressor.
Regularly inspect and lubricate the spring compressor, ensuring that it is in good
working order and condition.
Always ensure that the work area is clean and tidy, free from unrelated materials
and has adequate lighting.
Keep hands, limbs etc. clear of moving parts during operation; Never place any-
thing inside the safety cage during operation
Clean and stow the spring compressor correctly, with the ram in the down position,
DO NOT leave it extended; ensure storage area is dry.
Failure to follow the warnings in this manual, may result in personal injury and/or
property damage.
Always ensure that the clamps are correctly supporting the spring; Offset loads
can damage the machine and the spring, and may cause it to ‘eject’ from the
spring compressor.
Before each operation, check for signs of cracked welds, loose or missing bolts or
any other structural damage; Do not operate if any of these conditions exist. Have
repairs made only by authorised service centre.
Components of this spring compressor are specially designed to withstand the
rated capacity. Do not substitute bolts, pins, or any other components.
DO NOT remove the safety cable or safety cage during operation.
In extreme circumstances, parts being compressed may shatter or eject from the
compressor; It is the operators responsibility to always use the safety cable, safety
cage and adequate personal protective equipment such as eye protection, safe-
ty boots / shoes, gloves and heavy protective clothing, when operating this spring
compressor.
If the spring compressor appears to be damaged in any way, is found to be bad-
ly worn, or operates abnormally IT SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE until nec-
essary repairs are made by an authorised service centre.
Prior to applying the load, be sure that the damper and spring are aligned cor-
rectly.

CAUTION: The warnings and cautions mentioned in this user manual can not cover all pos-
sible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that
common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must
be applied.
When using the spring compressor always ensure the operator as well as
those in the area wear ear protection.

quate safety gloves / gauntlets.

Understand the operating environment; Before each use the operator should as-
sess, understand and where possible reduce the specific risks and dangers associ-
ated with the operating environment. Bystanders should also be made aware of
any risks associated with the operating environment.

This SIP universal plate for spring compressor is covered by a 12 month parts and la-
bour warranty covering failure due to manufacturers defects. This does not cover fail-
ure due to misuse or operating the Spring compressor outside the scope of this manu-
al - any claims deemed to be outside the scope of the warranty may be subject to
charges Including, but not limited to parts, labour and carriage costs.
This guarantee does not cover consumables such as screws and pins.
In the unlikely event of warranty claims, contact your distributor as soon as possible.
