Risk of electrical shock or electrocution – The electrical supply to this product must be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local
codes and ordinances. Improper installation will create an electrical hazard which could result in death or serious injury to pool users or others due to electrical shock, and
may also cause damage to property.
DO NOT USE EXTENSION CORDS - DEATH OR INJURY CAN RESULT.
To reduce the risk of injury, do not permit children to use this product unless they are closely supervised at all times
If ambient air temperature exceeds 115˚ F. (46˚ C), protect the power supply from direct sunlight. Do not cover the power supply.
The sole purpose of this product is for use as a robotic pool cleaner as described in this manual; any modification or other use will void the warranty.
Do not allow children to use, touch, or play near or around the unit’s power supply.
A Ground Fault Current Interrupter (GFCI-USA) and Earth Leak Interrupter (ELI-EU) must be installed to protect your electrical outlet and to prevent any possible
electric shock. Failure to do so could create an electrical hazard which could result in death or serious injury to pool users or others due to electrical shock and may
also cause damage to property.
Do not connect unit to AC power until installation has been completed.
Do not use if unit is damaged in any way.
Make sure the robotic pool cleaner is unplugged from its power supply before opening the unit or performing any other maintenance.
To avoid damage to the power supply and cord, never carry the power supply by the cord or pull on the cord to disconnect from an outlet. Instead, disconnect by
pulling the plug, itself, from the outlet. Do not pull cord around sharp corners or edges.
Do not play with the cleaner or cable or apply to body. It can trap or tear hair or body parts. The cable can trip or entangle swimmers which could result in drowning.
Do not operate with a damaged cord or power supply.
Before installing the cleaner, understand the cleaner’s coverage. The cleaner was not designed to automatically clean steps or to work under solar covers. It was also
not designed to do initial clean up for a new pool installation.
Your cleaner should not be used while people are swimming in the pool.
The power supply must be at least 12 feet / 4 meters from the pool’s edge at all times!
It is recommended that you clean your filter bag and check the impeller to make sure it is free and clear of debris after every use.
DO NOT place the cleaner in the pool prior to securing all connections to the swivel/cable
Disconnect the power supply from the outlet when not in use.
DO NOT switch the pool cleaner to “ON” if it is not immersed in the water. Operation the cleaner out of the water may cause severe damage and will result in loss of
warranty. Always remember to turn the power supply “OFF” and unplug it from the power outlet before removing the cleaner from the pool.

The Floating Swivel is designed to prevent cable twisting and tangling by providing a free
spinning conduit that rotates 360⁰in both directions, while maintaining electrical
continuity. The Floating Swivel will glide on the surface of the water as the cleaner moves
around the pool. As tension builds in the cable, the outer, cylindrical portions of the swivel
will keep the float stable allowing the front portion of the swivel to rotate, releasing the
tension that has been generated by the cleaner’s movement (See Figure S1).

NOTE: The swivel performs most efficiently when floating on the surface of the water. If the
depth of the pool exceeds the length of the provided cable (from cleaner to swivel, 8’) an
extension can be installed to lengthen this portion of the cable to optimize the cleaner’s
performance. Please contact SmartPool at 732-730-9880, M-F, 9am – 5pm, EST for assistance.
The cleaner will still operate in pools that have depths greater than 8’ without the extension
cord but it will perform at a higher efficiency with the extension cord in these situations.
FLOATING SWIVEL SETUP
IMPORTANT: All connections must be made prior to using this cleaner. Do not place any
portion of the cleaner into the pool prior to reading the instructions below.
How it Works
As you will notice, the swivel is not connected to the cable inside the carton. This is done to
prevent any unnecessary stress from being applied to the swivel and the connections
during the shipping process. Below are instructions on how to connect the swivel.
The short cord (from cleaner to swivel, 8’) will need to be connected to the small end of the
swivel (A). The long cable (from the swivel to the power supply, 40’ or 50’) will need to be
connected to the large end of the swivel (B) as seen in Figure S1.
NOTE: The connections are designed to be distinctly different to prevent the wrong end of
the cord from being plugged into the wrong end of the swivel (See Figures S2 and S3).
How to Connect the Swivel
OVERVIEW
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use any tools for the following steps. All connections should be
hand tightened.
1) Ensure the gasket is secured inside the black plug of the long cable (40’ or 50’) as
shown in Figure S4.
2) Insert the black plug on the end of the long cable (40’ or 50’) into the large end of
the swivel (B), as shown in Figure S5, ensuring the pins are aligned properly. Press
firmly to ensure a solid connection is made.
3) Grasp the swivel and hand tighten the black collar from the cable (until it is snug) to
secure the connection (Figure S6A).
4) Insert the blue plug from the short cable (from cleaner to swivel, 8’) into the small
end of the swivel (A) as shown in Figure S5, ensuring the gasket is in the swivel
connection and the pins are aligned. Press firmly to ensure a solid connection is made.
5) Grasp the swivel and hand tighten the black collar from the cable (until it is snug) to
secure the connection (Figure S6B).

affordable and effortless. Following these simple directions will insure that the cleaner will
quickly and efficiently clean your pool today and for many years to come.

6) Confirm that the all connections to the swivel are tightened properly prior to placing
the cleaner into the pool.

NOTE: This section is only necessary for pools with depths greater than 8’.
NOTE: Ensure the gasket inside the swivel is still secured in place after the plug is removed
from the swivel.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use any tools for the following steps. All connections should be
hand tightened.
IMPORTANT: Check all connections are firmly in place prior to using the cleaner. The
cleaner is now ready to use as per the normal operation instructions.
1) Remove the entire cleaner from the pool.
2) Dry all connections and the Floating Swivel.
3) Disconnect the short cable from the swivel by loosening the black collar and gently
pulling on the plug (Figure E1).
5) Secure the connection by rotating the black collar in a clockwise direction until it is
hand tight.
6) Insert the Extension Cord Union on the end of the Extension Cord and secure it by
hand tightening the black collar on the end of the cable (Figure E3).
NOTE: The Extension Cord Union has two distinctly different sockets to prevent an incorrect
connection.
7) Insert the blue plug on the 8’ cable into the other end of the union and hand tighten
the black collar, ensuring the gasket is in place prior to making the connection
(Figure E3).
4) Insert the blue plug of the Extension Cord into the open end of the swivel ensuring
that the gasket is firmly in place prior to making the connection (Figure E2).

OPERATING THE CLEANER OUT OF THE WATER WILL DAMAGE THE MOTORS AND VOID THE WARRANTY

few seconds, remove itself from the w ll, turn its pump motor on g in, pushing itself down to the bottom of the pool w y from the w ll. It could lso climb the w ll, scrub the
w terline, turn its pump motor off, nd flo t w y from the w ll down to the bottom. All of these v ri tions h ve been progr mmed into the cle ner nd re designed to most
quickly nd efficiently cle n your entire pool. This unit h s been designed to cle n ll re s of your pool. It will climb the w lls, nd occ sion lly bre k the surf ce. In the process of
climbing the w ll it m y st y on the surf ce nd continue to oper te from sever l seconds to few minutes. This is norm l oper tion procedure nd the cle ner will eventu lly m ke its
w y to the bottom to continue its cle ning. Since most of the dirt is concentr ted on the floor of the pool, the cle ner will spend the m jority of its time on the floor.
REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION:
To use the remote control feature, place the vacuum unit into the swimming pool. Push the 3-hour switch on the power supply to the on position. Wait 10 seconds. Press and release any
switch on the remote control to activate the remote control feature. DO NOT HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN, AS THE VACUUM WILL TRAVEL IN THE DESIRED DIRECTION
UNTIL THE RED STOP BUTTON IS PUSHED. There will be an audible beep from the remote control, indicating that the command has been sent to the vacuum. The unit will stop
moving, but the pump motor will continue to run and filter water. If the cleaner needs to travel to the right, press and release the right arrow button. When the vacuum has turned to
the desired area, press and release the RED stop button. Press and release either the forward or back button to make the vacuum travel in that direction. By using these simple inputs
you can easily guide the unit to any area of your pool. To exit the remote control feature, press and release the button marked AUTO. The unit will resume its cleaning program and
automatically shut off when it reaches the end of its cleaning cycle.
NOTE: If, while in remote mode, the cleaner begins floating on the water’s surface, press the the STOP button on the remote until the robot floats to the
bottom of the pool.

• Place the cleaner into the pool and if needed rock the cleaner side to side to release any trapped air. The cleaner will sink to
the bottom of the pool.
• Turn the power supply to the ON position.
• The cleaner will begin its cleaning program.
• The cleaner will automatically shut itself down after three hours.
• If a second cleaning is required or the unit is accidentally shut off, you should wait one minute before switching the unit
on again.

INSTALLATION
• Walk the cleaner to the furthest point of the pool.
• Add 6’/2m of cord to the pool for additional coverage.
• Coil up the remaining cable and secure it so that excess cable will not be pulled into the pool (the Velcro strap originally attached to the cable can be used).
• Attach the antenna to the power supply by aligning the base of the antenna with the gold connector on the power supply. Twist the antenna onto the onnector in a clockwise direction until snug. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.
• Be sure to only plug the power supply into a GFCI (ground fault current interrupter) or ELI (earth leak interrupter) protected electrical outlet.
• Look at the power supply and check that the power supply switch is in the off position.
• Plug the power supply into the GFCI or ELI protected outlet.
• Plug in the connector from the cleaner into the socket. The connector is keyed so that it will only plug into the socket one way. Make sure that the plug is pushed all the way onto the socket. Slide the
connector lock (strain relief) onto the connector and turn the connector lock clockwise until it is snug.

REMOVING THE CLEANER FROM THE POOL
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
• Slowly pull the floating cord to get the cleaner to the pool surface and near
the edge of the pool. DO NOT PULL THE CLEANER OUT OF THE POOL BY
THE CORD OR THE SWIVEL.
• Reach down and grasp the handle of the cleaner and remove it from the
pool as shown in Figures 1 and 2 .
Please follow the below procedures to ensure maximum cleaner performance and overall
component condition.
W ter Chemistry
The following ranges are the recommended water levels to maintain a
properly balanced pool.
PH Level: 7.2 – 7.8
Total Alkalinity: 80 – 150ppm
Calcium Hardness: 150 – 300ppm
NOTE: Properly balanced water is a guideline for preserving warranty coverage.
CLEANING THE FILTER BAG (Filter B g Should Be Cle ned After Every Use.)
• Turn cleaner upside down and place on ground so the bottom lid is exposed.
• Press the red tabs inward towards the center of the cleaner as shown in figure 3.
Lift the bottom lid with the filter bag up and out of the cleaner.

• Grasp the bottom lid firmly, with one hand and use your other hand to grab the filter bag
material and pull it away and up from the bottom lid (see Figure 4).

• Turn filter bag inside out and hose off all debris as shown in Figure 5. If very dirty it may
be washed in your washing machine, inside out, with cold water, mild detergent, and by
itself. Do NOT put in the dryer.

• Hose all debris off the bottom lid being sure to get all dirt out of the fine filters on the
intake doors as shown in Figure 6.

The unit should be stored in an area that will afford some protection from the elements to
insure that it retains its finish
. DO NOT STORE NEAR OPEN CHEMICALS
• To reapply the filter bag, first turn it right side out. Next place the filter bag frame onto
the bottom lid being sure that the bag frame seats fully into the channel. Press down
on all corners to ensure fit. Check the seat of the filter onto the bottom lid (see Figure 7)

• Pick up the bottom lid and turn it over so the bag hangs below it (see Figure 8). Place
the bottom lid back into the cleaner being careful to feed the filter bag into the body of
t he cleaner. MAKE SURE ALL FILTER MATERIAL IS INSIDE THE CLEANER
OTHERWISE THE LID WILL NOT CLOSE AND LATCH PROPERLY.
• Once the bottom lid is seated press it firmly into the cleaner. Gently pull on the bottom
lid to insure that it is properly locked in. The lid is now installed.

• Loosely loop the cable as shown in Figure 10.
• Unplug the cable from the power
supply.
• Hold the cord close to the cleaner.
• Make a roughly two foot loop with
the cord as shown.
• When making loop, roll the cable
slightly in a counter clockwise
manner to maintain form.
DO NOT WRAP THE CORD
TIGHTLY AROUND OBJECTS.

If temperatures will regularly be below 45 degrees Fahrenheit or 5 degrees Celsius, the
cleaner and power supply should be stored indoors.
In the event that the cable does coil on itself, it can easily be straightened by following the below
instructions.
• Turn the power supply to the off position
• Remove the cleaner from the pool and place it on the far end of the pool deck/yard
(away from the power supply)
• Unscrew the blue cable from the power supply
• Hold the black collar at the plug end and gently lift the cable off the ground (FIGURE 9)
• Gently pull on the cable to straighten
• The swivel will rotate as tension is applied, eliminating the coils in the cable
• Return to normal cleaner use

his product has been manufactured, tested and inspected in accordance with carefully
specified engineering requirements. It is warranted to be free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal use and service, subject to qualifications, conditions and
limitations described below.
Smar Pool 3 Year Limi ed Warran y:
1st Year: Full coverage on manufacturer defects.
2nd Year: 100% coverage on pump and drive motors.
3rd Year: 50% coverage on pump and drive motors.
Owners will be charged 50% of the current MSRP for motors found to be defective within
the third year of ownership. he purchaser is also responsible for labor charges
associated with the repair of the product and applicable freight costs.

CAU ION:
Some vinyl liners are more susceptible to surface wear and pattern removal than others,
caused by objects such as brushes, toys, floats, chlorine dispensers, and automatic pool
cleaners coming into contact with the vinyl surface. Such patterns can be easily
scratched or abraded merely by rubbing the surface with a brush. Pattern ink can also
rub off when they come into contact with objects in the pool. SmartPool LLC is not
responsible for, nor does this limited warranty cover pattern removal, abrasion, and
markings on or damage to any kind of vinyl liner.
