1000BASE-SX
SMC’s EZ Card 1000 is a Gigabit Ethernet network interface card for 32-
and 64-bit PCI local bus computers. Operating under the 1000BASE-
SX short-wavelength laser specification, this card provides up to ten
times the bandwidth of Fast Ethernet over multimode fibre links. With
industry-leading throughput and an abundance of advanced features,
this network card is the perfect solution for today’s high-end servers
and workstations.
The EZ Card 1000‘s leading-edge ASIC technology and performance
enhancing techniques maximise throughput and minimise CPU
utilisation. The card provides independent receive and transmit
buffers with packet bursting across the PCI bus to dramatically
increase throughput. Intelligent interrupt management and IP, TCP
and UDP checksum off-loading minimises host CPU time. Operating
in full-duplex mode on a 64-bit PCI machine, this card delivers an
extremely high level of throughput to the host computer.
The EZ Card 1000‘s comprehensive set of features also includes
advanced features such as VLAN tagging, Quality of Service (QoS)
priority queuing, full duplex flow control and Jumbo Frame support.
What’s more, in a Windows NT environment the card’s features are
completely configurable through a convenient configuration and
diagnostics utility. The EZ 1000 cards ship with drivers for most
popular network operating systems.
