INTRODUCTION
Product Description
The EEDM596F is a hand-held True RMS auto ranging
automotive DMM. The EEDM596F measures ACV, DCV,
ACA, DCA, Resistance, Frequency, Capacitance, Duty Cycle,
Diodes, Continuity, Temperature, RPM, Dwell, and
milli-second pulse width. It also features Bluetooth®
communication for iOS and Android remote reading apps.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
ALWAYS
• Test the EEDM596F before using it to make sure it
is operating properly.
• Inspect the test leads before using to make sure
there are no breaks or shorts.
• Double check all connections before testing.
• Have someone check on you periodically if working
alone.
• Have complete understanding of circuit being
measured.
•
Disconnect power to circuit then, connect test leads
to the EEDM596F, then to circuit being measured
.
NEVER
• Attempt to measure unknown high voltages.
• Attempt to measure current with the meter in
parallel to the circuit.
• Connect the test leads to a live circuit before setting
up the instrument.
• Touch any exposed metal part of the test lead
assembly.

Record Mode (REC)
The record mode saves minimum (MIN), maximum
(MAX), and average (AVG) values measured for a
series of readings. Activate the function as follows:
1. Depress the REC/TRIG +/- button on the
EEDM596F (auto power off is disabled).
2. The EEDM596F will immediately start to record
MIN/MAX/AVE values. REC will be on the LCD
to show record mode has been activated. The
reading on the LCD will be the actual reading.
3. Press the REC/TRIG +/- button a second time
and the MIN reading will be displayed.
4. Press the REC/TRIG +/- button a third time and
the AVG reading will be displayed on the LCD.
5. To terminate the record mode, hold the REC
button down for approximately 2 seconds or
turn the rotary switch to a different function.
Relative Mode (REL)
The Relative mode compares readings to a known
value and displays it as a difference to that value on
the LCD.
1. Measure the known value on the EEDM596F
and press the REL button, the LCD will display
zero.
2. Measure next device for comparison.
3. The LCD will display the difference between the
new device and the stored reference value.
4. To terminate the Relative mode, hold the REL
button down for approximately 2 seconds or
turn the rotary switch to a different function.
Low Pass Filter (LPF)
The LPF mode is used to filter out AC or noise
affecting DC voltage/current readings and harmonics
affecting AC voltage/current readings. It will stabilize
the reading and give you a more exact reading.
1. Depress and hold down the HOLD/LPF button
for 2 seconds on the EEDM596F.
2. The EEDM596F will display LPF on the LCD
when the low pass filter is active.
3. To terminate the LPF mode, depress and hold
down the HOLD/LPF button down for 2
seconds. LPF will no longer be displayed on
the LDC.
Peak Hold Mode (PEAK-H)
The Peak Hold function allows you to capture rapidly
occurring spikes or drops in signals as fast as 1mS
(one millisecond). You can monitor signals over time
or test the spike when relays or coils are de-energized.
1. Measure the device with the EEDM596F and
press the PEAK-H button.
2. Display will show the maximum (MAX) peak it
measured since the button was depressed.
3. Press the PEAK-H button again to toggle
between maximum (MAX) and minimum (MIN)
stored values.
4. To terminate the Peak Hold mode, hold the
PEAK-H button down for approximately 2
seconds.
Mute Mode
To mute the continuity buzzer and confirmation beeps
hold down the FUNCTION button for 2 seconds with
the instrument on. The mute icon will appear on the
LCD. Hold down the FUNCTION again for 2 seconds to
cancel the MUTE mode.
Auto Power OFF
The EEDM596F turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity
(no button press or dial change). To disable auto
power off hold down the FUNCTION button while
turning the instrument on. Continue to hold the button
down until the power icon turns off on the LCD
(approximately 2 seconds).
Wireless Communication
The EEDM596F comes with Bluetooth® LE for
communication to iOS and Android apps. Press the
Bluetooth®button to activate scan mode. The icon
will blink. Launch the app and connect. Icon will stop
blinking when connected.

Measuring Diodes
Range: Approximate Forward Bias Voltage
CAUTION!
Do not attempt to make diode
measurements with circuit energized. The
only way to accurately test a diode is to
remove it completely from the circuit before
attempting to measure it.

1. Connect the black test lead to the banded end of the
diode and the red test lead to the non-banded end
of the diode.
2. Reading on the display should be between 0.3 and
0.8 volts.
3. Reverse test lead connections in 5 above.
4. Reading on the display should be OL (Overload).
NOTE: If diode reads 0 in both directions, diode is shorted.
If diode reads OL in both directions, diode is open.

Temperature measurement requires temperature input
adapter and K-type temperature probe.
CAUTION!
To avoid possible meter or equipment
damage, please note that the optional
thermocouple is rated up to 950°F (510°C).

Maintenance
WARNING!
To avoid possible shock or personal injury,
servicing other than fuse or battery
replacement must be done by authorized
personnel.
General Maintenance
Clean the external surfaces of the meter with a damp cloth
and mild detergent. Do not immerse in water.
Testing Internal Fuses
Both the A and mAμA input jacks are fuse protected.
The fuses can be tested without removing them from the
instrument as follows:
1. Set the EEDM596F to the diode test function.
2. Insert the red test lead into the V input jack.
3. Touch the tip of the red test lead into the A input
jack making sure you contact the metal.
4. If the display reads any number, the fuse is good. If
the display reads OL, the fuse is open and must be
replaced.
5. Repeat the same procedure for the uAmA input
jack.
Battery and Fuse Replacement
WARNING!
To avoid possible shock or personal injury,
remove the test leads from the instrument
before opening rear cover. Use only
replacement fuses and battery noted under
the “Replacement Parts” section.

Android and iOS Apps
Download the free EEDM596F app from the app stores.
Connecting to the device
:
1. Activate Bluetooth on the EEDM596F by pressing
the Bluetooth button (icon will blink on the LCD
display).
2. Launch the app on your device.
3. Tap “Connect”.
4. Tap the available device with the serial number
matching your EEDM596F.
5. The app will connect to your EEDM596F and display
the reading on your device.
Enter company information:
1. Tap the 3 square dots at the top of the device to
open the overflow menu.
2. Tap “Shop Information”.
3. Enter Name and address of your company.
Optional functions:
Use the buttons on the device or the EEDM596F to
activate optional functions (see user manual for buttons
that are active for specific functions).
Recording results:
Press the “Red” button on the device to activate the
record mode. The record time will be displayed next to
the rotary dial on the device.
Press the button a second time to stop recording.
Saving results:
Once the recording is stopped enter the test name and
customer data into the displayed fields. Results are
automatically saved when the top back arrow is tapped.
Sharing results:
1. Access the list of result by tapping the 3 squares at
the top of the device.
2. Locate the desired result.
3. Tap the arrow to the right of the result to show the
recorded data.
4. Tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen to
share the results.
