Adding M5 repeaters in a multicell environment
Introduction
Step-by-Step Guide
Reset procedure
Introduction
Adding a repeater to an M700/M900 multi-cell installation is only recommended in certain circumstances (e.g. to improve reception at the end of a
DECT chain) and should otherwise be avoided as the use of repeaters halves the maximum number of bases with each repeater per base. If you still
decide to add one or more repeaters, please be sure to read the following tips and tricks to ensure proper operation.
Step-by-Step Guide
Make sure your installation complies with the limits.
In a multicell, you can have:
50 base stations with 3 repeater per base station
or base station with maximum127 1 repeater per base station
or base stations and254 no repeater
After deciding which of these options to use, please configure this in the web interface under Multicell:
Use on the bases and on the repeater - look for latest version here:latest firmware version DECT M-Series Firmware
Automatic vs manual mode: when using repeaters in a multicell we recommend to use registration, because automatic registrationmanual
means that you cannot control to which base the repeater is registered to, so you might have unexpected connections. You can also try
automatic, but if that fails please switch to manual.
When using manual registration, you must enter the RPN of the base to which the repeater should connect to. To find out the RPN of a base, you
can look in the bases table in the Multicell section, find the IP address of your base and for that row of the table get the value under the RPN
column ( ). For example in the below image, the RPN for IP address 10.110.30 112 is RPN08:not the "DECT sync source" column
The Snom Repeater can be used to extend the DECT coverage area between one base and handsets.M5 A repeater cannot extend the
coverage area between one base and another base.

You only have the choice between , which thus determine the maximum number of bases as well as repeatersthree switching states
per base. It does not matter whether you equip only one base with one repeater ( ) or 2-3 repeaters ( ) according to your127/1 50/3
choice or all bases equally.
Note: No matter which setting you have chosen, you can install a in a multi-cell with M700 or M900maximum of 100 M5 repeaters
bases.
