1 Introduction

Front Camera
Capture your own portrait, etc.
Light Sensor
Detects ambient light level and adjusts Display brightness.

Note
Avoid removing USIM Card or microSD Card between powering on and until tablet is
operable. May prevent correct operation.
If tablet stops operating, no longer accepts input, or freezes, hold down Power Key for
13 seconds to force-restart tablet.

Installing USIM Card/microSD Card
1 Open Card Slot Cover
2 Insert USIM Card gently (metal contact up) until it clicks in place
3 Insert microSD Card1gently (metal terminals up) until it clicks in
place
4 Close Cover

Handling USIM Card
Customer is responsible for any damage caused by inserting USIM Card in an other-
brand IC card reader, etc. SoftBank Mobile Corp. is not responsible in such case.
Always keep the IC chip (metal) clean.
Wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth.
Avoid applying labels. May damage USIM Card.
See instructions included with USIM Card for handling.

USIM Card is the property of SoftBank Mobile Corp.
USIM is replaceable (at cost) in case of loss/damage.
Return USIM Card to SoftBank Mobile Corp. when cancelling subscription.
Returned USIM Cards are recycled for environmental purposes.
Note that USIM Card specifications and performance may change without notice.
It is recommended that you keep a separate copy of information that is stored on USIM
Card. SoftBank Mobile Corp. is not responsible for damages from stored information
that is lost.
Always follow emergency procedures to suspend service if your USIM Card or tablet
(USIM Card inserted) is lost/stolen. For details, contact Customer Service (p. 96).
Always power off tablet before inserting/removing USIM Card.
Special USIM Card required. Card is not usable on mobile phones.
Charging with AC Charger (Optional Accessory)
AC Charger is an optional accessory. Be sure to use ZTDAD1 specified by SoftBank
Mobile Corp.
The following explains how to charge tablet using ZTDAD1.
See User Guide for AC Charger.
Never connect Micro USB plug when tablet or AC Charger are wet.

Charging
Charging Conditions
Low-temperature conditions affect charging performance.
Use AC Charger (optional accessory) in temperatures from 5°C to 35°C.
Use Specified Optional Accessory
Charge using AC Charger (optional accessory) compatible with tablet. Avoid bending
cable or forcing Micro USB plug. May cause damage.
Tablet or AC Charger (Optional Accessory) Becoming Warm
Tablet or AC Charger (optional accessory) may become warm during charging, but is not
a malfunction. However, becoming extremely hot may be a sign of abnormality;
immediately discontinue use.
Caution with Extended Periods of Use
Tablet may become hot with extended use or while charging, especially in high-
temperature conditions. Use with caution. Extended skin contact may cause low-
temperature burns.
Display while Charging
Press Power Key while powered off during charging to turn on Display and view animated
charging progress. After charging, appears.

Drag Notification Bar down for Notifications Window.

The time, Wi-Fi connection status, battery level, etc. appear.
Drag Status Bar down for Settings Window.

2 Text Entry
Keyboards
Use onscreen keyboards for text entry.
In 10 Key Keyboard, multiple characters are assigned to each key. In QWERTY and
Japanese Syllabary Keyboards, a single character is assigned to each key.
To toggle between 10 Key, QWERTY, and Japanese Syllabary Keyboards, in a shown
keyboard, Tap Menu →10 Key, QWERTY, or Japanese Syllabary.

Entering Kanji
To enter 携帯 in 10 Key Keyboard:
1 Check that character set is hiragana
・Check Status Bar for あicon.
