2 Sonera Yritysinternet Quick guide
Sonera Yritysinternet quick installation
Sonera Yritysinternet is a modular Internet access service that can be expanded with a number
of supplementary features. The service is subject to a fixed monthly charge – no suprises, no
additional costs. Easy, fast, cost-efficient! If you have a Microsoft Windows or an Apple com-
puter, all you need to do is plug a modem into the computer with a network cable provided
(the one with yellow connectors). An Internet connection is established automatically, unless
you have changed the default settings of the computer.
A wireless LAN service (WLAN) is available only if you have ordered it separately.
The Sonera Yritysinternet delivery contains the following components:
- Internet access with a selected data transmission rate
- A customer modem, two network cables (red and yellow RJ45 connectors) and a grey
telephone cable (RJ11 connectors)
- A SurfManager® management and reporting service
- Separately selected Sonera Yritysinternet supplementary services
The terminal devices supported in the Yritysinternet service are Technicolor TG789, TG799
and, on fibre sites, TG11000.
First check the following:
- The customer modem has been installed.
• ADSL /VDSL implementation:
- the broadband indicator light of
the customer modem flashes green
when the connection is up
• Ethernet implementation:
- the customer modem does not have
an indicator light that would show
the connection is up
• Fibre implementation
- On the customer modem the Internet light
is illuminated green when the device has
network access
- When the customer device (workstations, network printer, server, etc.) is connected to
a modem, the Ethernet indicator light on the customer modem is illuminated.
- The WAN port indicator light on the back flashes green when the Internet connection is
being used.
NOTE: Establishing a network connection takes about 60 seconds. The broadband indicator
light flashes when the connection is being established.
If no connection can be set up, make sure that your workstation has been set to retrieve
TCP/IP network settings automatically from an DCHP server.

Sonera Yritysinternet supplementary services
Network firewall service:
A network firewall is a supplementary service implemented in a centralized firewall service
managed by Sonera. The network firewall has a standard set of rules that cannot be modi-
fied specifically for a subscription.
If you have ordered the network firewall service, its introduction does not require any sepa-
rate action from you.
Service levels:
Sonera maintains your subscription in accordance with the service level you have selected
for the subscription in connection with the order.
Total number of IP addresses (dynamic, public):
An IP address space is specified in connection with the order and delivered with the sub-
scription: the number of IP addresses determines the number of customer devices that can
be connected to the LAN. The standard delivery includes 12 addresses; more addresses are
available as a supplementary service.
Static IP addresses:
You have been provided with a static public IP address (or addresses) for the device(s)
whose MAC address(es) you specified when you placed the order. The maximum number of
static public IP addresses per subscription is four.
If your LAN requires the use of a static public IP address, please make sure that:
- you have ordered a static IP addresses from Sonera, and
- you have informed Sonera of the MAC address of the terminal device needing a static
IP address
- the TCP/IP network settings of the terminal device have been set to automatically retrieve
an IP address from a DHCP server

Wireless local area network (WLAN):
A wireless LAN service (WLAN) is available to Sonera Yritysinternet subscriptions. The service
requires a WPA2 network key, which is defined in connection with the order.
If you have ordered the WLAN service, it will be automatically activated when you install the
customer modem and establish a network connection. If the WLAN service does not activate
within about an hour, please contact Sonera. When the WLAN is active, the wireless indicator
light of the customer modem is on.
The WLAN service set identifier (SSID) of the subscription is SoneraInternet. The SSID cannot
be changed.
You can check the network key from the order confirmation or the SurfManager management
and reporting service. You may also contact Corporate Customer Service.
A network firewall service, changes to service levels, additional dynamic IP addresses, static
IP addresses and a wireless LAN can be ordered and viewed in the Sonera SurfManager
management and reporting service at http://surfmanager.sonera.com
Note:
If access capacity is shared by several users, you should take into account that sharing
capacity in a LAN without the use of appropriate information security solutions (such as
personal firewalls and virus protection) may jeopardize the confidentiality of communications.
