1. Introduction
• Wireless Access Point with high transfer rate: Up to 54 Mbps.
• Supports dynamic and static routing, several can share connection for
broadband modem/cable modem, up to 252 users.
• You can send data between the wireless and non wireless net and the Internet.
• 64/128bits WEP-encryption protocol, automatic DHCP-server shares the
IP number, built-in improved rewall, possibility for web games and video
conference.
• Connections: 4xRJ-45 (LAN 1-4) and 1xRJ45 (WAN), range indoors
5-100 m.
• Simple installation with web interface.

4. Getting started with Gigabyte GN-BRO1G
4.1 Cable connection
1. Turn off the computer and all devices that will be connected before the
installation begins.
2. Attach the antenna (4) on the side of GN-BRO1G.
. Connect the included network cable between a LAN port (LAN 1-4) on the
back of GN-BRO1G and the network card in the computer/computers.
4. Connect a straight/crossed network cable between the broadband modem/
cable modem and the WAN port (2) on the back.
5. Connect the AC/DC adaptor: The DC plug to the outlet (1) on the back and
the AC/DC adaptor to a wall socket.
6. The green LED PWR lights up when GN-BRO1G is on.
7. Start the computer.
4.2 Wireless connection
1. Turn off the computer and all devices that will be connected and unplug the
AC/DC adaptor to GN-BRO1G before the installation begins. Attach the
antenna (4) on the side of GN-BRO1G.
2. Connect a straight/crossed network cable between the broadband modem/
cable modem and the WAN port (2) on the back.
. Connect the AC/DC adaptor: The DC plug to the outlet (1) on the back and
the AC/DC adaptor to a wall socket.
4. The green LED PWR lights up when GN-BRO1G is on.
5. Start the computer.

5. The LEDs on the front
PWR Lights up when the AC/DC adaptor is connected and functioning.
WLAN Flashes: Data is being transferred wirelessly.
WAN Lights up: GN-BRO1G has connection with a broadband modem/
cable modem.
Flashes: Data is being transferred via the WAN port.
LAN Lights up: GN-BRO1G has connection with a network 10/100 Mbps
Flashes: Data is being transferred via the LAN port.
6. Conguration under Windows XP
This is only a brief operator’s manual to help you get started.
6.1 TCP/IP
• Go to Start/Settings/Control panel, choose Network connections and right
click on the connection that belongs to the network card. Select Properties.
• Mark the TCP/IP protocol that is connected to the network card and choose
Properties.
• Check that Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain address to
the DNS server automatically are marked.
• Click OK.

6.2 Deactivate HTTP-Proxy
• Open Internet Explorer*, click on Stop.
• Click on Tools and then on Internet options.
• Choose Connections and then LAN settings.
• Deselect all markings.
• Click OK twice to close the window.
* Do the following if you are using Netscape.
• Open Netscape, click on Stop, click on Edit and then on Properties.
• In the window Properties, choose Category and double click on
Advanced, then click on Proxies, choose Direct connection to the
internet.
• Press OK to close the window.

6.3.1 Check conguration
You can check that the computer has the correct IP address by:
1. Open Program/Accessories/Command prompt, type ipcong and press
ENTER to display IP address, net mask and Gateway.
2. If the computer has received the correct IP address according the gure
below you don’t have to do any more settings. Type exit and press ENTER
to return to Windows.



6.3.2 Update conguration
If the computer still has an old or incorrect IP address it can be renewed to
receive the correct IP address. Do the following:
1. Open Program/Accessories/Command prompt, write: ipcong/release
and press ENTER to clear automatic congurations.
2. Write: ipcong/renew and press ENTER to get a new updated automatic
conguration.
. Your address is displayed e.g. 12.168.1.4, Standard Gateway:
12.168.1.1 and Net mask: 255.255.255.0.
4. Write exit and press ENTER to return to Windows.

6.4. Conguration of GN-BRO1G
Take out the documents you received from you Internet distributor (ISP)!
Type in the router’s IP number (192.168.1.254) in the web browser’s address
eld and press ENTER to connect to GN-BRO1G.
Type in USERNAME and PASSWORD (use the factory preset the rst time,
then you can switch): Log in using the user name admin and the password
admin. Press OK to open the settings.
Press INIT to return to factory settings if you have forgotten the password etc.
