Congratulations on your purchase of the Sony VAIO®computer! Your new,
high-performance multimedia computer combines state-of-the-art computer
functionality with the latest audio/video and information technology convergence
features.
Features
❑i.LINK® (IEEE1394) interface — A built-in i.LINK port, located on the
back panel, provides you with digital connection capability.
❑VAIO® AV Appplications — This suite of Sony original applications
includes DVgate™, Media Bar™, MovieShaker™, PictureGear™, Smart
Capture, OpenMG™ Jukebox, and VisualFlow™. Using the i.LINK port,
you can capture, view, and share still and video images, then catalog
everything for fast, easy storage and retrieval.

processor, a 10Base-T/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet interface, and a high-speed
V.90-compatible data/fax modem.*

Recovery CDs

Setting Up Your Computer
This section illustrates how to set up and install your computer and peripheral
devices.
Connecting a Display (monitor)
1Plug the display cable into the MONITOR port.
2If necessary, plug the display cord into the rear of the display.

Connecting the Speakers
1Plug the cable attached to the right speaker into the R OUT jack on the back
of the left speaker.
2Plug one end of the speaker cable into the INPUT jack on the back of the left
speaker. Plug the other end into the HEADPHONES jack.
3Plug the power cord into the DC IN jack on the back of the left speaker and
plug the other end into a grounded AC wall outlet or power strip.

Connecting the keyboard and mouse
1Plug the keyboard cable into the PS/2®KEYBOARD port on the back of the
computer.

Connecting the modem cable and power cords
1Unplug your phone from the wall jack, and plug the phone line into the
TELEPHONE jack on the computer.
2Plug the modem cable that came with your computer into the LINE jack on
the computer, and then plug the other end of the cable into the wall jack.
3Plug the power cord into the back of the computer.
4Plug the display and power cord into a grounded AC wall outlet or a power
strip.
