In the beginning, there was light. And at the heart
of every Cyber-shot digital still camera, it is the
image sensor that collects the light that eventually
becomes your creation.
Since the appearance of the first CCD (Charge
Coupled Device) in 1978, Sony has been
developing its own image sensors, culminating in
the release of the“Exmor” CMOS (Complementary
Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor in 2007. This
highly efficient low-voltage sensor produces
images with virtually no vertical striping and vastly
reduced image noise. And it’s remarkably fast too,
making possible burst shooting in Sony digital
SLRs and rapid high-resolution imaging in Sony
HD Handycam®camcorders.
“Exmor” reveals details that amaze and rich
tonality that takes your breath away. Incorporating
Sony’s proprietary on-chip column A/D
conversion, “Exmor” delivers results with markedly
decreased noise and contributes to rapid image
data processing. Leveraging on the “Exmor”
advantage is the compact “Exmor R” sensor
which utilises back-illuminated technology
to nearly double sensor sensitivity for clearer
low-light recordings such as a romantic candlelit
dinner or a starlight-bathed landscape.

SWEEP PANORAMA
Sweep your camera horizontally to

BIONZ IMAGE PROCESSING ENGINE
At blazing speed, the BIONZ Image Processing Engine drastically
lowers noise level and achieves high accuracy in auto-focusing,
exposure auto-correction and auto white balancing.
What’s more, the Dynamic Range Optimiser (DRO) instinctively
analyses the composition, optimising exposure and contrast,
to create a more natural and vibrant image in different shooting
environments. Enjoy enhanced colour reproduction, rich tonal
gradations and amazing precision every time.

Sony’s Cyber-shot W-series cameras are equipped with Sony’s
exclusive 1/2.3-type Super HAD CCD with approximately 14.1
effective Mega Pixels. This high resolution and precision ensures
rich gradations and colours are reproduced accurately whether
you are zooming in on specific parts or printing high-quality
images up to A3 size.
F2.4 G LENS
The Cyber-shot W380 is equipped with the powerful super wide-angle 24mm
fast F2.4 G Lens. Built to last a lifetime, the outstanding G Lens is the hallmark of
Sony’s quality optical technology, combining superb clarity and sharpness with
exquisite defocusing characteristics.
Capture quality pictures even in low-light situations with the greater ISO
sensitivity and faster shutter speed of the F2.4 G Lens. What’s more, an ultra-
high refractive index element corrects field curvature common to wide-angle
lenses and contributes to exceptional contrast at all focal lengths, from wide-

CARL ZEISS®VARIO-TESSAR LENS

Capture perfect self portraits easily
INTELLIGENT AUTO MODE
Capture the perfect shot with ease with Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode. Automatically determining the
optimised settings for different scenes, iAuto mode combines the innovative technologies of Intelligent
Auto Focus, Motion Detection and Intelligent Scene Recognition to ensure that every shot is perfect,
regardless of the shooting environment.
MOTION DETECTION
This innovative feature detects faces and other movements by the subjects even when Face Detection
is off, suppressing motion blur by automatically determining the optimal shutter speed and ISO
sensitivity.
INTELLIGENT AUTO FOCUS
With Intelligent Auto Focus, the Cyber-shot W-series is constantly in focus, always ready to take
sharp images anytime. Automatically detecting the changing shooting conditions, such as subject
brightness or zooming ratio, Auto Focus is activated before users half-press the shutter button. This
enables you to capture perfect photos instantly without having to wait for the camera to focus.

Intelligent Scene Recognition mode
automatically determines the
optimised settings for varied
situations. So you always get the

Auto and Advanced modes, the
Intelligent Scene Recognition

Advanced Mode
The Auto mode takes a single shot with optimised settings while
the Advanced mode captures two shots at different settings,
allowing you to select the shot you prefer.
24mm WIDE ANGLE LENS
Capture more with the impressive wide angle zoom
lens of the Cyber-shot W-series! Now you can take
amazing panoramic images outdoor and superb
group shots even in confined spaces with the lens’
wide focal length of 24mm. (an equally impressive
26mm for Cyber-shot W350 and W320)
SELF-PORTRAIT TIMER
Utilising Sony’s Face Detection technology, the
Self-portrait Timer function automatically detects
the subjects’ faces and determines the best
composition before capturing the picture. This
means you would not have to check the LCD
screen or worry that your face would not be in the
frame. Choose between Self-portrait One Person
or Self-portrait Two Person settings and let the
Self-portrait Timer do its job for perfect pictures
of yourself.
SMILE SHUTTER
Sony’s Smile Shutter is designed to catch
the most dazzling smiles from your subjects.
This innovative feature captures all your happy
moments by automatically taking pictures only
when the person is smiling. You can even select
adult or child priority and choose the smile
detection sensitivity level to capture the desired
smile. Press the Smile Shutter button to easily
activate this feature!
5X OPTICAL ZOOM
Get sharp images without having to move closer. With the
Cyber-shot W380’s 5x Optical Zoom lens, you can accurately
zoom in on the details when shooting your subjects from a distance.

ADVANCED FACE DETECTION TECHNOLOGY
Sony’s Face Detection automatically determines the focus, exposure, white balance and even flash
control on multiple faces in a single shot. It is lightning-fast and accurate, so that even individual red
eye reduction and auto focus are optimised for pictures everyone will love.
When multiple faces are detected, Sony also has the Advanced Face Detection technology that clev-
erly distinguishes between child and adult faces. Select “Child Priority” or “Adult Priority” mode and let
the camera adjust the focus, exposure and white balance for the faces you want to concentrate on.
With Intelligent Auto Mode on, Smile Shutter
can now be used together with the Intelligent
Scene Recognition technology. This means
you can always capture beautiful smiles even in
difficult conditions.

30fps and 1280 x 720p with your Cyber-shot W-series. With the high-quality,
high-compression MPEG-4 movie format, you can create your own stunning
HD movies and shoot photos simultaneously. Just a quick flick of the mode
dial instantly switches between photo and movie settings, making this feature
remarkably easy to use. You can record approximately 29 minutes per shoot!
Then view your stunningly detailed HD movies and still images on HD TV or
upload them to your computer or the Internet with ease***. With the supplied
Picture Motion Browser Version 5.0, you can also easily edit and create your own

DYNAMIC RANGE OPTIMISER
Especially effective when shooting backlit portraits or any scene with dramatic contrast between
background and foreground lighting, the Dynamic Range Optimiser (DRO) gives you outstanding
pictures every time. Made possible by the BIONZ Imaging Processor, DRO employs a sophisticated
image analysis algorithm to automatically determine the best exposure and contrast settings in almost
any shooting environment. In this way, DRO gives images a natural look with clearer details that match
what you see with your naked eye. Available settings are Off, DRO Standard and DRO Plus.
