Batteries
• This camera uses 2 AA batteries.
• It comes with 2 rechargeab e
batteries and a battery charger.
• If taking on a fie d trip, you might
want to have an extra set of AA
batteries on hand…just in case

power
• The battery indicator on the
disp ay shows how much battery
power is remaining
• If camera wi not be used for an
extended period of time
– Remove the batteries and store in

• It is best to recharge batteries
when they are comp ete y used up
– Recharging before the using up
the existing charge can shorten
the ife of the battery
• Battery ife is shortened in co d
temperatures.
– Don’t eave your camera or
batteries in the car/outside during
co d (or hot) weather

Picture Qua ity
• 5 settings for picture qua ity

– 1 MP – good qua ity for 4 x 6 prints
– VGA – best for emai , web pages and getting
the most images on the memory stick

Storage Medium
• This camera has 32MB of interna memory,
but…
• Use the 64MB Memory Stick (to store images).
The ower the MP setting, the more pictures you
can get on the stick.
• At Fine setting (which gives you better
print/shoot qua ity) on a 32MB stick. A 64MB
stick shou d give you doub e what is shown here

– 1M – 101 images
– 3M – 41 images
– 3.2M - 32 images
– 5M - 25 images

Remove/insert memory stick
• The s ot for the memory stick is ocated in the
compartment on the bottom where the batteries
are ocated
• Lexar memory sticks have a “ ock” s ide on the
opposite side
– If Locked(you wi see red) you cannot take/de ete
pictures
• A ways turn off the camera before removing the
memory stick (or changing batteries)

Insert/remove stick
This is not a view of the W5 but the cover opens the same. The cover is
ocated on the bottom of the W5.

Changing image size
• To change the 5M, 3.2M, 3M, 1M and
VGA settings
• Turn the dia to the picture of the camera
and turn on power
• Press the button on the back that has a
sma grid/trash can

Taking pictures

(except Set Up and movie) to take
a picture.

Printing Images
• You can a ways print an image by
inserting it into a b ank Word document
and resizing to desired size

Printing images using Windows XP
• Windows XP offers a picture printing feature that
a ows you to choose 8x10, 4x6, 5x7, etc choices
• Fo ow the instructions for viewing images using
the card reader
• Whi e viewing your images, c ick on a picture
• This wi give you a choice to Print Pictures on
the LH side of window
• Fo ow the steps for the Windows XP wizard to
print your images

Inserting into projects
• Inserting a picture is the
same process as
inserting a picture from a
f oppy.
