• After you turn on the power of the headphones, you may h ea r a slight
hiss. This is the operating sound of the noise canceling function, not a
malfunction

Utilizing the AI NoiseCanceling
AI Noise Canceling
AI No i se Canc eling is a useful fun ct ion t hat automatically selects one
of the noise canceling mode s. Thi s function provides the mo st effective
noise cancel ing mode by immediately analyzing ambient sound
com ponent s when th e A I NC button is pressed.
Press the AI NC button .

en you press the AI NC button and the POWER sw itch is set to
"ON", beep sou nd s come fro m the headphone s to in form you that
the unit has s ta rted analyzing ambient so und components (ap prox . 3
seconds) .
During analysis, sound reproduction from the uni t is sto pped and the
POWER indica t or blinks .
When analysis is completed, the most effective no i se cance l in g mo de is
set automatically, and sound r ep roduction from th e headphon es s tart s
Noise canceling mode types
NC Mode A: Noise mainly in an air p lane is effectively redu ced
NC Mode 8: Noise mainl y in a bus or a train is effectively r educed.
NC Mode C: Noise mainly f ound in an office env ironm en t (PC, copier,
air ventilation, etc.) is effectively r educed.

• When the power of t he headphones is turned on, NC Mode A is set (See
UNoise canceling mode types~ for details about NC Mode A.)
• Press the AI NC button again to reset the noise canceling mode ifambient
noise has changed, such as when you move outdoors from a room.

After use
Turn off the power of the headphones and th e AV equipment.
Folding the headphones
Flat storage
Rotate the h ous ings to mak e them flat for easy storage in the seat pocket.
Kestore to
their usual position before using.
Putting the headphones in the carrying case
Fold the headphones as illustrated before putting them in the ca rr ying case
(supplied).

Precautions
The headphones contain a noise canceling circuit.
What Is noise canceling?
The noise canceling circuit actually senses outside noise with built-in
microphones and sends an equal- but -opposite canceling signal to the
headpho n es.
• The noise cance li ng effect may not be p ronounced in a ve ry quiet
environment, or
some noise may be heard.
• The noise canceling effect may vary
depending on how you wear the
headphones.
• The noise canceling function works for noise in the low frequency
band primarily. A lt hough noise is reduced, it is not canceled
completely.
• Wh en you use the headphones in a train or a car, noise may occur
depending on street conditions.
• Mob
il e phones may cause interference and noise. Should this occu r,
locate the headphones further away from the mo bile phone .
Notes on usage
o Clean the headphones wi th a soft dry doth.
• Do not leave the plug dirty otherwise t he sound may be distorted.
•
Be sure to consult a Sony dealer when the ear pads become dirty or
damaged, or when t he headphones require repair work.
• Do not leave the stereo
headphones in a locati on subject to dire<:t
sunlight, heat
or moisture.
o Do not subject the headpho nes to excessive shock.
o Handle the driver units carefully.

feel drowsy or ~ick while using these headp hones, stop use

Notes on headphones
Preventi ng heari ng damage
Avoid using headphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise
against
cont i nuous , loud and extended play. Ifyou experience a ringing
in your ears, reduce the volume
or discontinue use.
Do not use headphones while driving and cycli ng , etc.
As headphones reduce outside sounds, they may cause a traffic
accident. Also, avoid listening with
your headphones in situations
where hearing must not be impaired, for example, a railroad crossing, a
construction site, etc.
Note on static el ectricity
In particularly dry air condi tions, noise or sound skipping may occur,
or mild tingling may be felt on your ears. This is a result of static
electricity accumulated in the body,
and not a malf unction of the
headphones .
The effect can be
min imized by wearing clothes made from natu ral
materials.

Troubleshooting
No sound
o Replace the battery. You can use the headpho nes even without tu rning
on the power. In this case, the noise canceling function, Digital
Equalizer and S·Master arc not active,
and t he headp hones operate as
passive headphones.
o Check the connection of the headphones and the AV equipment.
o Check that the connected AV equipment is turned on.
•
Turn up the volume of the connected AV equipment.
• Check
if the MONITOR function is on (the indicator blinks slowl y).
Press the MONITOR button to turn it off.
The noise canceling effect is not sufficient
o The noise canceling function is effective in low frequ ency ranges such
as
ai rplanes, trains, or offices (ncar air-conditioning, etc.) and is not as
effective for higher frequencies, such as
human voices.
• Turn
on the headphones.
Distort ed so und
o Turn down the volume of the con nect ed AV equipment.
Power does not turn on
o Check if the battery has expired (the POW ER indicator ligh ts off).
Replace the battery
wi th a new one
No operation works
o Set the POWER switch of the headphones to "OFF", confirm the
connections,
and then set the POWER switch back to "ON"
