The following is an overview of the recommended order to implement all of
the adjustments in this document:

PIC-BOOST2 (VGAM) This is used to modify gamma. The value
shown in the table will result in a value
close to 2.2 with GAMM below.
PIC-BOOST3 To align color & luminance information with
Avia or image similar to CNN logo
2170P-4 (GAMM/BLK) To modify luminance curve when set to the
values shown. The resulting gamma will
be about 2.2 with VGAM above.
MID1 & MID2* With THX screen alignment image or
Video Essentials
2170P-4 (SHUE, SCOL) Set these to the values shown to
equivalence settings across inputs.
USER Menu Settings
(Picture & Brightness)* With AVIA or THX Optimizer.
2170P-4 (SPIC)* With THX picture/contrast display (use this
value for all other inputs).
2170P-1* Adjust white balance with gray scale
displays, skip this or try the values
included. You may be able to increase
SPIC after making this adjustment.
USER Menu Settings
(Picture, Brightness, Color, Hue,
Sharpness)*
With AVIA and/or THX Optimizer.
2170P-4 (Color Decoder)* With Avia.
User Menu (Hue, Color)* With Avia (if it changes go back to color
decoder).
2170P-2 (reset values)* Copy settings from User Menu into reset
settings. Remember to start counting at
zero.
2170P-2 (custom values) Adjust each input to the desired
appearance under PRO mode with these
values. This can be difficult without a test
image.
*-Only for first (DVD) input. Use these values for all other inputs and screen
resolutions (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i).
