This manual contains useful information about your
Dik-Dik. Please read and fully understand its contents
before assembling and riding your bike. Failure to do
so may result in your warranty being voided

Before you power up and pedal o
Check your yres, es he brakes and make sure ha he baery is sucien ly
charged. There shouldn’ be any rales or odd noises when you s ar o ride
E-bikes are heavy — pushing hem home is no fun. If you’re unsure abou any hing,
reach ou o Sou hbound or book in your Dik-Dik a your local bike service shop for
professional service and advice.

Safety
Riding any bike on or o-road is inheren ly risky.
Remember o always pu safe y rs and ride
wi hin your capabili ies.
If your kids use your Dik-Dik, please supervise hem. These bikes are
powerful and heavier han analogue bicycles, so hey will handle and
brake dieren ly
Always wear a helme when riding your Dik-Dik and ensure i s well.
We recommend using a quali y helme manufac ured by a repu able
brand. Using a low budge helme o pro ec such a vi al par of your
body makes zero sense.

Power down
Never work on your bike with the power on. Chan in tyre pressure,
xin a puncture, replacin an o chain or applyin chain lube should
only be done with the power o.
Check your tyres
Both front and rear wheels should be ti htly ed and tyres inflated to
the appropriate pressure
0.8 - 1.0 Bar for medium and hard surfaces
0.4 - 0.6 Bar for soft surfaces.
E-bike, not e-boat
Never ride your Dik-Dik throu h fresh water deeper than the top of
your wheel rim. This will risk water enterin the electrical system,
which can cause severe dama e and could potentially cause injury
to riders.
Avoid salt water at all costs
Never ride your Dik-Dik throu h salt water — it is hi hly corrosive and
detrimental to all e-bike parts and frames, as well as the electrical
system. So, when ridin on the beach, do not let your bike come into
contact with sea water.

Get set
Se your sea o he correc riding heigh .
The general rule of humb is ha when your leg
is a full ex ension, here should s ill be a sligh
bend in your knee wi h your pedal a 5 ‘o clock,
no dead boom.
Get powered up
Swi ch on your Dik-Dik by pushing and holding
he power buon on your display screen.
Your bike will engage pedal assis in ei her
level zero or 1 by defaul . S ar cycling on
level 1 and increase pedal assis ance power
levels hereaf er.
Get going
S ar pedalling wi h your legs or use your
hrole buon briefly o gain some momen um.
Power will no be supplied o he mo or if you
s op pedalling or if you hi he brakes.
Get into gear
Your Dik-Dik’s gearing can be changed by
wis ing he grip. Turning i owards you will
engage lower gears — making i easier o ride
up hills. Conversely, wis ing he grip away
from you will engage higher gears, sui able
for flaer, fas er riding.

Using the
display screen
The three buons on the left w ll allow you to toggle the dsplay
between your current PAS level, baery level, current speed and
the power the motor s currently us ng.

and e-b ke to sw tch on.
Th s buon can also be used to v ew the
total t me, total d stance, max speed and
average speed.

The boom buon w ll decrease the level
of PAS. If you want to cycle w th the PAS
funct onal ty o, select level 0
Your D k-D k has a thumb throle. However,
press ng and hold ng the boom buon on
the d splay w ll act vate "walk assist", wh ch
s the same as us ng the thumb throle.

Cleaning and
maintenance
Keeping your Dik-Dik lean and well maintained is essential
to years of trouble-free riding.
Keep it clean.
Clean your bike when its dirty using a damp
loth, mild detergent and a s rubbing brush
for the drive hain.
Avoid using ex essive water around the
baery area, display s reen, ele tri al
onne tions and harnesses. High pressure
sprayers are a big no-no.
Keep it in good nick
Your Dik-Dik will require regular maintenan e
over time, whi h may in lude repla ing brake
pads, worn spro kets, hains or assees,
and adjusting the ables as they stret h.
Maintenan e an be done by any reputable
bike outlet or servi e entre.
Keep it running smoothly
Apply hain lubri ant to your bike’s hain
after every wash. You an buy purpose-
spe i solvents for leaning old hain
lubri ant o your derailleur, assee and
hain online or from your lo al bike outlet.
Keep to accredited agents only
Any required maintenan e to your Dik-Dik’s
ele tri al system (display s reen, baery,
motor, throle, ontrol unit, various sensors
or any wiring) should only be performed by
an a redited Southbound agent.
Southbound may not honour your warranty
for work done to the ele tri al system
outside of the network of a redited agents.

Check your baery status
The baery charger light will shi e red if the baery
is still chargi g a d cha ge to gree whe it has
fully charged.
Charge before you ride
E sure your baery is fully charged before starti g
your ride
Check that the rubber cap is properly i serted back
i to the chargi g port before you ride. This will
preve t a y moisture a d water from e teri g your
bikes electrical system a d pote tially damagi g it.
Baery storage
If you do ot pla to use your Dik-Dik will for three
weeks or lo ger, it is preferable to store your bike
with the baery partially charged.
Limit your ride time
Limit your ride time so that your baery does ot
drop below 20% capacity.

How it works
The Southbound limited warranty covers
manufacturing faults in materials or
workmanship on all new e-bikes in
possession of the original owner, from the
date of purchase.
For valid warranty claims that occur within
the rst 14 days from date of purchase,
Southbound will cover the reasonable cost
of labour involved in rectifying the fault.
After the 14 day free labour repair period,
the owner will be responsible for the
labour costs associated with warranty
replacements.

claim will be shipped to the
customer or bike dealer by
Southbound.

Wear and tear from ordinary use

or electrical system resulting from
improper use.
Damage resulting from operating the
bike outside of the maximum
recommended parameters as per the
detailed spec sheet in this manual.
Water damage from riding or washing
your e-bike
Damage as a result of failing to
maintain your bike as suggested
in this manual.
This warranty will not cover

The following are examples of ‘wear and tear from ordinary use’
and are not covered by the warranty
H punctures, flat or worn tyres-
H broken spokes-
H worn brake pads-
H chains — expect to replace chains every 1 500 km approx. (depending on rider weight
PAS levels and riding conditions)-
H chain wheels, sprockets, boom brackets, derailleur hangers and jockey wheels-
H sliding bearings and other bearings-
H lights and lighting systems-
H broken kickstands-
H worn handlebar grips-
H replacement hydraulic oils and lubricants-
H gear shift and brake cables-
H paint and parts nishes e.g. scratches and dents-
H rust to the frame, rims and drive train resulting from improper use and maintenance-
H baery management systems (BMS) that have fused or shorted resulting from power
surges or load shedding. We strongly recommend using a surge arrestor to protect
the BMS-
H cracked frames or carriers damaged resulting from improper use, e.g. seat post shims not
inserted properly or exceeding carrying capacity of racks
