Stentofon Flowire User manual

Getting Started
Flowire
1 Flowire Connection
The Flowire converter board must be connected to the
Flowire bus as shown in the picture below. The red
wires are the positive supply voltage and the black
wires are the ground.
The voltage on the Flowire bus can range from 20 to 48
VDC, and for convenience, the board is equipped with
two connections to the bus.
LPlease note that these two connections are equivalent.
For the rst unit on the bus, one connection can be
used to connect the power supply, while the other can
be used to connect to the actual bus. The power supply
may be connected at any point on the bus, i.e. it can
be connected to any of the Flowire converter boards on
the bus.
2 Ethernet Connection
Ethernet is connected via the RJ45 port. This supplies
10/100 Mbps Ethernet and power over spare-pair. The
power on the spare-pairs is the same voltage as the
one supplied to the converter board. Hence a voltage
of more than 39 volts must be applied to the converter
board in order to power STENTOFON IP stations
directly.
LDO NOT connect the RJ45 port to a PoE switch/injector
as this may damage the converter board!
LThe RJ45 port is NOT a PoE compatible output but DC
voltage on spare-pair which is present at all times. It
should NOT be connected to any equipment that may be
damaged by this voltage.
3 Indicators
The Flowire converter board is equipped with three
green LEDs. These LEDs indicate the status of the
power, the connection to Flowire, and whether data is
transmitted on Flowire or not.
LED2
LED1
LED3
LED1: This LED is lit when the board’s local power
supply is working and ready to power the board.
LED2: This LED is lit when the converter board
recognizes one or more boards on the Flowire network.
LED3: This LED ashes when the converter board
receives data from the Flowire network.
4 Quick Connect Button
The quick connect button (the only button on the
converter board) is only used when the converter board
is added to a new Flowire network. When the button
is pressed, the board will automatically connect to the
other devices in the same physical Flowire network.
