Steren PIC-600 User manual

Before using your new USB port PIC programmer please read this
instruction manual to prevent any damage. Put it away in a safe
place for future references.
WARNING
To avoid damaging your programmer, please ensure pins are
connected to the correct side.
Do not place the PIC-600 over metallic surfaces.
Do not place metallic objects over the programmer
DRIVER INSTALLATION IN WINDOWS XP
1.- Place the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2.- Run the program “PIC-600 Install Windows 98_Me_2k_Xp”
Follow the instructions.
3.- Use a USB cable type B (USB-450) to connect the programmer to
computer.
4.- The computer will detect the new hardware, the Found New
Hardware Wizard runs.
5.- Select No, not this time and click Next to continue.
6.- Now select Search for the best driver in these locations, click Next to
continue.
7.- Select Browse and locate the folder C: \ Program Files \
Steren pic-600 \ driver \ driver_98_Me_2k_Xp “
8.- The installation process begins. If a warning message pop up,
please click OK to continue.
9.- The completed installation window will appear shortly afterwards,
just click on Finish.
Do not place any PIC on the base while installing drivers, may
cause damages on it.
To install on Windows Vista you need to run the “PIC-600
Install Windows Vista” file, then follow the instructions.
OPERATION
IMPORTANT
Before to run the software, it is recommendable to connect the PIC
rst, and then open the software, In the event of failure to do so
will have to recognize the programmer before starting to use it.
Connect the PIC-600 to an available USB port, open the PIC-600 file
installed in the program menu.
When the software recognize the programmer, next options will display
in the Basics tab:
Identify PIC in programmer
This option identify the placed PIC on the base or connected to ICSP
port. First, make sure to select the pins in the IC-Socket / ICSP box
dialog, and the family in PIC Family box dialog.
Select HEX-File as source
Open the le to be loaded into the PIC, it must have the .HEX format.

Remove CP
Remove the code protection in some cases, it depends if the code
protection was installed in the program or while programming.
Erase PIC
Deletes the program or code in the connected PIC.
Blank check
Check if the PIC’s memory is empty
Write HEX-File into PIC
Writes the program previously loaded with the Select HEX-File as
source option, into the connected PIC.
Compare PIC with HEX-File
Compares the content of the memory with the previously loaded
program.
Read from PIC into new HEX-File
Reads the Pic’s memory and save into a new .HEX le, you must enter
a name and location for the le.
Target: Run
Use this option to switch the PIC to run mode after programming it into
the ICSP port. Be careful to insulate the ICSP port from the rest of the
circuit where the PIC is installed.

WARRANTY
This Steren product is warranted under normal usage against defects in workmanship and materials to the
original purchaser for one year from the date of purchase.
CONDITIONS
1.- This warranty card with all the required information, invoice or purchase ticket, product box or package,
and product, must be presented when warranty service is required.
2.- If the product stills on the warranty time, the company will repair it free of charge.
3.- The repairing time will not exceed 30 natural days, from the day the claim was received.
4.- Steren sell parts, components, consumables and accesories to costumer, as well as warranty service, at
any of the addresses mentioned later.
THIS WARRANTY IS VOID IN THE NEXT CASES:
If the product has been damaged by an accident, acts of God, mishandling, leaky batteries, failure to follow
enclosed instructions, improper repair by unauthorized personnel, improper safe keeping, among others.

Antes de utilizar su nuevo Módulo programador de PICs lea este
instructivo para evitar cualquier mal funcionamiento. Guárdelo
para futuras referencias.
ADVERTENCIA
Para evitar cualquier daño al programador, asegúrese de que los
pines de los PICs a programar estén correctamente conectados.
No coloque la tarjeta programadora sobre supercies metálicas.
No coloque objetos metálicos sobre la tarjeta.
INSTALACIÓN DE DRIVERS EN WINDOWS XP
1.- Inserte el disco de instalación en la unidad de CD-ROM de la
computadora.
2.- Ejecute el programa “Instalar PIC-600 Windows 98_Me_2k_Xp” y
siga las instrucciones.
3.- Mediante un cable con conector USB tipo B (USB-450) conecte el
programador PIC a un puerto USB disponible de la computadora.
4.- La computadora detectará el nuevo equipo y el Asistente para
hardware nuevo encontrado se ejecutará.
5.- Seleccione la opción No por el momento, y presione Next para
continuar.
6.- En la siguiente ventana seleccione la opción Instalar desde una lista
o ubicación especíca (avanzando), presione Next para continuar.
7.- Seleccione Examinar y busque la carpeta “C:\Archivos de programa\
Steren PIC-600\driver\driver_98_Me_2k_Xp”
8.- El proceso de instalación comenzará. Es posible que durante el
proceso, aparezca un mensaje de advertencia acerca del logotipo de
Windows XP, presione Continuar.
9.- Presione Finalizar para concluir con el proceso. Ahora podrá
comenzar a utilizar el programador.
Asegúrese de que no existe ningún PIC conectado al programador
durante la instalación de drivers, se podría dañar el programador.
Para instalar en Windows Vista sólo tiene que ejecutar el
programa “Instalar PIC-600 Windows Vista” y seguir las
instrucciones.
OPERACIÓN DEL PROGRAMADOR
IMPORTANTE
Después de instalado su programador PIC-600 es recomendable
que primero lo conecte antes de abrir el programa PIC-600, en
caso de no hacerlo tendrá que reconocer el programador antes de
comenzar a utilizarlo.
Conecte el equipo a un puerto USB disponible de la computadora, abra
el programa PIC-600 instalado en el menú de programas y como
acceso directo en el escritorio.
Una vez ejecutado el programa y reconocido el programador le deben
aparecer las siguientes opciones dentro de la pestaña “Basics”:
Identify PIC in programmer
Identica el PIC insertado en la base ZIF o conectado al puerto ICSP,
primero asegúrese de haber seleccionado los pines del PIC en el
cuadro “IC-Socket / ICSP” y la familia en el cuadro “PIC Family”.

Select HEX-File as source
Abre el archivo que será cargado al PIC, debe tener extensión .HEX
Remove CP
Quita la protección de código en algunos casos, depende si la
protección del código fue colocada en el programa o durante la
programación.
Erase PIC
Borra el programa o código del PIC insertado o conectado.
Blank check
Revisa que la memoria del PIC está vacía.
Write HEX-File into PIC
Escribe el programa previamente abierto con la opción “Select HEX-
File as source” en la memoria del PIC insertado o conectado.
Compare PIC with HEX-File
Compara el contenido de la memoria del PIC con el programa que
previamente se cargó.
Read from PIC into new HEX-File
Lee la memoria del PIC y lo guarda en un archivo .HEX nuevo, para lo
cual se debe escribir el nombre y la ubicación del nuevo archivo .HEX.
Target: Run
Ésta es una opción para poner el PIC en modo de ejecutar cuando se
ha programado a través del puerto ICSP, se debe tener mucho cuidado
de aislar muy bien el puerto ICSP del resto del circuito donde el PIC
está instalado.

PÓLIZA DE GARANTÍA
Esta póliza garantiza el producto por el término de un año en todas sus partes y mano de obra, contra
cualquier defecto de fabricación y funcionamiento, a partir de la fecha de entrega.
CONDICIONES
1.- Para hacer efectiva la garantía, presente ésta póliza y el producto, en donde fue adquirido o en
Electrónica Steren S.A. de C.V.
2.- Electrónica Steren S.A de C.V. se compromete a reparar el producto en caso de estar defectuoso sin
ningún cargo al consumidor. Los gastos de transportación serán cubiertos por el proveedor.
3.- El tiempo de reparación en ningún caso será mayor a 30 días, contados a partir de la recepción del
producto en cualquiera de los sitios donde pueda hacerse efectiva la garantía.
4.- El lugar donde puede adquirir partes, componentes, consumibles y accesorios, así como hacer válida
esta garantía es en cualquiera de las direcciones mencionadas posteriormente.
ESTA PÓLIZA NO SE HARA EFECTIVA EN LOS SIGUIENTES CASOS:
1.- Cuando el producto ha sido utilizado en condiciones distintas a las normales.
2.- Cuando el producto no ha sido operado de acuerdo con el instructivo de uso.
3.- Cuando el producto ha sido alterado o reparado por personal no autorizado por Electrónica Steren S.A.
de C.V.
El consumidor podrá solicitar que se haga efectiva la garantía ante la propia casa comercial donde adquirió
el producto. Si la presente garantía se extraviara, el consumidor puede recurrir a su proveedor para que le
expida otra póliza de garantía, previa presentación de la nota de compra o factura respectiva.
