DRIVER’S AREA
ATilt/telescopic steering wheel
Adjust the seat position and pull the tilt/telescopic lock lever down.
Move the steering wheel to the desired level.
Pull the lever up to lock the steering wheel in place.
Make sure that the steering wheel is securely locked by moving it up and
down and forward and backward.

CIgnition switch

To turn on, push switch.
Use in emergency conditions.
LOCK: Insertion and removal of key, steering lock.
ACC: Electrical accessories usage.
ON: Normal operating position after the engine is started.
START: Engine is started.
For CVT vehicles:
The key can be turned from ACC to LOCK and removed only when the
selector lever is in the Pposition.

DHeadlights / Turn signal
EFog lights (if equipped)
To turn on, rotate dial to .
Fog lights operate only when headlight switch is in:
- position.
- AUTO position and the headlights are on.
Even if the ignition key is removed from the ignition switch, the lights can be illuminated by turning the
light control switch position from (off) to or .
To prevent the battery from discharging, make sure that the light control switch is turned to (off) before
leaving the vehicle.
FWindshield wiper and washer
1Wiper
To operate, push lever down/up to the following positions:
:Mist (for a single wipe)
:Off
:Intermittent
:Low speed
:High speed
2Intermittent interval
To change interval speed, turn dial.
3Washer
To wash the windshield, pull the wiper control lever toward you.
1Headlights
To turn on, rotate knob to the following position:
:Instrument panel illumination, headlights, parking
lights, front side marker lights, rear side marker
lights, tail lights and license plate lights are on.
:Instrument panel illumination, parking lights, front side
marker lights, rear side marker lights, tails lights and
license plate lights are on.
AUTO (if equipped):
Headlights and the lights mentioned above are
automatically ON/OFF.
:The headlights are all off.
2High/low beam change
To change to high beam, push lever forward.
To return, pull back to original position.
To ash high beams, pull the lever toward you and release.
3Turn signal
Move lever up or down.

HRemote control mirror switch
IIllumination brightness control
To adjust brightness of the clock display and instrument panel
illumination, turn dial.
When the control dial is turned fully upward to position, the
illumination brightness becomes the maximum and the automatic
dimming function does not work at all.
Ignition switch must be in ACC or ON position.
1Turn the control switch to the side that you want to adjust.
Lis for the left mirror, Ris for the right mirror.
2Move the control switch in the direction you want to move
the mirror.
Return the control switch to the neutral position to prevent
unintentional operation.

GRear window wiper and washer (5-door)
Wiper
To operate, rotate knob to the
following positions:
:Washer
(accompanied by wiper operation)
:Continuous
:Intermittent
:Off
:Washer
(accompanied by wiper operation)
In the intermittent position, when
you move the select lever to
the Rposition (CVT) or the shift
lever to the reverse position
(MT), the rear wiper will switch
to continuous operation.

P = Park
To move the select lever
from Park: Firmly depress
brake pedal.
R = Reverse
N = Neutral
No gear engaged.
D = Drive
For normal driving.
M = Manual mode
L = L position
KVehicle Dynamics Control OFF switch
L position:
Lis for using engine braking when going down a hill, etc. To select this mode, move the selector lever
from the Dposition to the Lposition.
Manual mode:
With the vehicle either moving or stationary, move the select lever from the Dposition to the Mposition to
select the manual mode.
Rear view camera (if equipped)
When the ignition switch is ON and the select lever is set to R, the rear view camera automatically
displays the rear view image from the vehicle.

Gearshifts can be performed using the shift paddle behind the
steering wheel.
To upshift to the next higher gear position, pull the shift paddle that
has +indicated on it. To downshift to the next lower gear position,
pull the shift paddle that has –indicated on it.

To deactivate Vehicle Dynamics Control, push switch.

LCruise control
Cruise control enables you to maintain a constant vehicle speed
without holding your foot on the accelerator pedal and it is operative
when the vehicle speed is 40 km/h (25 mph) or more.
1To activate: Press the CRUISE main button.
2To set speed: Press the RES/SET switch to the SET side at
desired speed and release it.
3To increase the speed:
- Press the RES/SET switch to the RES side and hold it, release at
desired speed.
- Depress accelerator pedal, and press the RES/SET switch to the
SET side at desired speed.
- For incremental acceleration, press the RES/SET switch to the
RES side quickly, each tap equals an increase of 1 km/h (0.6 mph).
4To decrease the speed:
- Press the RES/SET switch to the SET side and hold it, release at
desired speed.
- Depress brake pedal, and press the RES/SET switch to the SET
side at desired speed.
- For incremental deceleration, press the RES/SET switch to the
SET side quickly, each tap equals a decrease of 1 km/h (0.6 mph).
5To temporarily cancel: Press CANCEL button or depress brake
pedal, clutch pedal (MT). Return to preset speed after it has been
cancelled: RES/SET switch to the RES side.
6To deactivate: Push the CRUISE main button. Cruise control
is always deactivated when the ignition switch is turned to ACC
or LOCK.

Audio control buttons (if equipped)

These buttons allow the driver to control audio functions without taking
his/her hands off the steering wheel. For details and operation, please
refer to your Owner’s Manual.

on the steering wheel toward you to recall the message.

Displays the driving range on remaining fuel, average
fuel consumption or current fuel consumption.

1Outside temperature indicator:
Displays the outside temperature in a range from
-40 to 50°C (-40 to 122°F)
2Driving information display:
With the ignition switch in the ON position, each successive
press of the information display selection knob switches the
display in the following sequence.

METERS / INDICATORS

Press to select between trip A and trip B. Press and hold to reset selected trip meter.

ETrip meter A/B selection and reset knob
This indicator shows the position of the select lever.
For models with manual mode, when the manual mode is selected, the gear position indicator (which shows
the current gear selection) and the upshift/downshift indicator light up.
GSelect lever and gear position indicator
The illustration above is a typical example. For some models, the combination meter may be slightly different than that
shown in the illustration.
The ECO gauge shows the difference between the current rate of fuel consumption and the average rate of
fuel consumption since the trip meter was last reset. If the needle on the gauge moves towards the right side,
this indicates better fuel efciency.
HECO gauge (if equipped)
Press this knob to switch the display.

Refer to the Owner’s Manual for countermeasures when each warning light comes on.
If necessary, consult your authorized Subaru dealer.
*Some warning/indicator lights illuminate for a few seconds in order to check themselves when the ignition
switch is turned ON.

The indicators show you the status of
the front passenger’s SRS frontal airbag.
Location: information display.
Vehicle Dynamics Control OFF switch is
pressed to deactivate the Vehicle Dynamics
Control system.
Illumination in BLUE: insufcient warming
up of the engine.
Illumination / blinking in RED: engine
overheating / almost overheating.
Blinking in RED and BLUE alternately:
electrical system malfunction.

AFront seat adjustment
1Forward and backward adjustment:
Pull lever up and slide seat forward or backward.
2Seat cushion height adjustment (driver’s seat only):
Pull lever up to raise seat; push lever down to lower it.
3Seatback reclining:
Pull lever up and adjust seatback forward or backward.

1Height adjustment:
To raise : Pull the head restraint up.
To lower :
Push the head restraint down while pressing the
release button on the top of the seatback.
2Angle adjustment:
To tilt :
Tilt the head restraint by hand to the preferred position.
To return:
Tilt the head restraint once as far forward as it can
go. The head restraint will automatically return to
the fully upright position.

ERear centre seatbelt (5-door)
To fasten:
1Raise the head restraint to the extended position.
2Remove the tongue plate from the belt holder on
the right side of the cargo area and pull out the
seatbelt slowly.
3Pass seatbelt through the belt guide.
4Insert webbing end to connector.
5Fasten seatbelt in the usual way. To unfasten:
Insert a tongue plate or other hard, pointed
object into the slot in the buckle.

FFolding down rear seatback
To fold rear seatback down,
pull knob and fold the seatback down.
GLower anchorages
Lower anchorages (bars) are provided for installing child
restraint system.
They are located where seat cushion meets seatback.
See the Owner’s Manual Chapter 1 for details.
HTop tether anchorages
Top tether anchorages are provided for installing child restraint
system with top tether.
They are located on the back side of the rear seatback (5-door)
or on the rear shelf behind the rear seat (4-door).

DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS
Trunk lid release lever (4-door)
To open the trunk lid, pull lever upward.
Fuel ller lid release lever
To open the fuel ller lid, pull lever up.
5-door
Hood lock release
To open the engine hood, pull lever backward.
Rear gate opener (5-door)
To open the rear gate, rst unlock the rear gate lock, then push the
rear gate opener button.
Remote keyless entry
Locking: Press the button to lock all doors and rear gate (5-door).
Unlocking: Press the button. Driver’s door will be unlocked.
To unlock all doors and rear gate (5-door), briey press the button
a second time within 5 seconds.
Opening the trunk lid (4-door): Press the button continuously for
at least 2 seconds.
Unlocking rear gate (5-door): Press the button.
PANIC
To open the trunk lid from inside
the trunk, pull the yellow handle
upward as indicated by the arrow
on the handle.

Power door lock
To lock all doors and rear gate (5-door), push front side of the switch.
To unlock all doors and rear gate (5-door), push rear side of the switch.
Power windows
Ignition switch must be in ON position.
1For driver’s window
One-touch auto down: Push down switch rmly and release,
window goes down all the way; pull switch back lightly to stop;
press lightly and hold for normal operation.
One-touch auto up: Pull up switch rmly and release, window
goes up all the way; push switch lightly to stop; pull lightly and
hold for normal operation.
2For passenger’s window (front and rear)
Push switch down and hold to open; pull back and hold to close.
3Lock switch
Press the switch down until clicks, only driver’s window
operates; press again and passenger windows function again.
Child safety locks
Located on the edge of the rear doors.
When lock lever is in the locked position, rear door cannot be opened
from the inside.
Sunroof (if equipped)
Sliding: OPEN/CLOSE switch
1Open: Slide the rear side

AAUTO button (for type B and C only)
FULL AUTO mode operation:
When the AUTO button is pressed, the indicator light FULL AUTO on the display illuminates.
In this state, fan speed, air ow distribution, air-inlet control, and air conditioner compressor operation are
automatically controlled.
AUTO mode operation:
If you operate any of the buttons on the control panel other than the OFF button, rear window defogger
button and temperature control dial(s) during FULL AUTO mode operation, the FULL indicator light on the
control panel will turn off and AUTO indicator light will remain illuminated. You can then manually control
the system as desired using the button you operated. To change the system back to the FULL AUTO
mode, press the AUTO button.
Type B
Type C
Type A
BFan speed control dial
Turn dial to turn on and to select fan speeds.
Turn dial or press the button to select the desired
air ow mode. For type A, to defrost windshield,
place the dial in the or position.
DAirow mode selection dial / button
EAir inlet selection button
Press button to select air ow.
ON (Recirculation): Interior air is recirculated
inside vehicle.
OFF (Outside Air): Outside air is drawn into
the passenger
FAir conditioner button
Push A/C button to select air conditioner ON/OFF.
ON: Press the air conditioner button while the fan
is in operation to turn on the air conditioner.
OFF: Press the button again.

(if equipped). The function will automatically shut off after about 15 min.
GRear window defogger / Outside mirror de-fogger (if equipped) / Windshield wiper de-icer (if equipped)
HOFF button (for type B and C only)
Press this button to turn off the climate
control system.
IDefroster button (for type B and C only)
Press this button to defrost the windshield.
JDUAL mode button (for type C only)
Press this button to separate temperature
settings for the driver’s side; and passenger’s
side can be enabled.
MAINTENANCE
To keep your vehicle in proper operating condition and to assure peak performance at all times, the
recommended maintenance service should be performed in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Refer to the Owner’s Manual for information on maintenance items and intervals.
Also, we recommend that you check your vehicle yourself daily for more comfortable use of your vehicle.
When you are going to check your vehicle yourself, please do so in compliance with Chapter 11 in the
Owner’s Manual.
