The SUMO ST360
Basic Features
The SUMO ST360 comes equipped with a bright and responsive touch display, a USB
port, a CompactFlash slot and embedded networking equipment such as wireless LAN
and Bluetooth. The basic features of the SUMO ST360 are complimented by a large
range of optional accessories, these include: battery expansion, docking cradles and
carrying cases that allow for a complete user experience.
SUMO ST360's typically have integrated 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN adapter.
If the unit does not come with the typical adapter, consult your device provider to
establish the desired network connectivity.
Operation
Internal Battery Switch
During transit and storage, the internal battery is switched off, this is to eliminate battery
drain. For the unit to function this switch must be in the on position (up), even when using
an external battery pack

Powering ON and OFF
To power the SUMO ST360 on, simply press and release the power button located on the
left hand side of the unit. The display may take a few seconds to come on. To place the
SUMO ST360 into standby mode press and release the power button. To power off the
SUMO ST360 for extended storage power off the device using the operating systems
“shut down/power off” feature.
NOTE: Batteries shipped with your unit may be low in power, please ensure the SUMO
ST360 is given a full charge before every day’s operation is started. External battery
packs may be charged whilst attached to the SUMO ST360 or in the optional external
charging pack.
NOTE: When the battery pack is charging, the battery LED should blink slowly, should
this not be the case then the batteries may have been drained completely. To remedy
this, try plugging / unplugging the power to the SUMO St360 a few times to activate the
charging process.
NOTE: To conserve power, place the unit into standby mode by pressing the power
button briefly. To resume repeat the action.
NOTE: Avoid using the power button (press and hold feature) to power the unit off. This is
designed for recovery of locked systems and should not be used on a regular basis.
Start Up
After a successful start up, the software interface will be displayed after the boot
sequence. Wireless LAN may take 10 to 15 seconds longer to establish a connection.
Configuring the SUMO ST360
The device can be configured using the standard controls of the installed operating
systems.

Calibration
Touch screen input is calibrated before shipping. If re-calibration is necessary please use
PenMount (PM) application (in the system tray) to calibrate the interface using the stylus
or USB mouse.
NOTE: For Microsoft Windows CE calibration tools are found in “Stylus application” in the
control panel.
Wireless Networking
Wireless LAN
The SUMO ST360 is delivered with an embedded 802.11a/b/g WLAN adapter as
standard this is coupled with a custom integrated antenna. The embedded WLAN is
supplemented with a user accessible PCMCIA slot for other WLAN/peripherals.
uThe SUMO ST360 should be able to detect all 802.11x access points for user
selection and connection.
uSSID and WEP parameters on the SUMO ST360 and the access point have to match.
SSID is case sensitive and it is recommended that WEP is enabled for secure access.
uWhen WEP is enabled you may need to consult your network administrator or refer to
the network equipment documentation. This is to ensure associated settings such as
Authentication mode are correct.
uRefer to the access point documentation to setup 802.11 x accesses.
Bluetooth
The SUMO ST360 features an integrated Bluetooth adapter that uses the Microsoft
Windows Bluetooth protocol. You can access the configuration application from the
