IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
• Use iron only for its intended use.
• To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids.
• The Fabric Select Dial and Steam Lever should always be turned to OFF before plugging or
unplugging from outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet; instead, grasp plug and
pull to disconnect.
• Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Let iron cool completely before putting away.
Loop cord loosely around iron when storing.
• Always disconnect iron from electrical outlet when filling with water, cleaning or emptying
and when not in use.
• Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has been dropped or damaged. To
avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the iron. Take it to an authorized service
center for examination and/or repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock
when the iron is used.
• Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Do not leave
iron unattended while plugged in or turned on or on an ironing board.
• Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water or steam. Use caution when you turn
a steam iron upside down – there may be hot water in the reservoir.
• If the iron is not operating normally, disconnect from the power supply and have the iron
serviced by an authorized service center. Or call Customer Service at 1.800.667-8623.
• Your SUNBEAM®iron is designed to rest on the heel rest. Do not leave the iron unattended.
Do not set the iron on an unprotected surface, even if it is on its heel rest.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
• To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit.
• If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for
less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it
cannot be pulled or tripped over.

To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). This plug fits a polarized outlet only one way; if the plug does not fit fully into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature.

vapeur très prudemment – il pourrait rester de l’eau chaude dans le réservoir.
• En cas d’anomalie de fonctionnement, débranchez aussitôt le fer et faites-le réparer à un centre

• Le fer SUNBEAMMD est conçu pour être posé sur son talon. Ne laissez pas un fer branché sans
surveillance. Ne posez pas non plus le fer sur une surface non protégée, même s’il est sur son talon.

• Pour ne pas causer de surcharge, ne branchez pas un autre appareil de haute consommation en
watts sur le même circuit.
• S’il est indispensable d’employer un cordon prolongateur, utilisez-en un de 15 ampères. Une
rallonge d’une intensité inférieure risquerait de surchauffer. Disposez le prolongateur de façon à
ce qu’il ne puisse ni être tiré ni faire trébucher.

One-Year Limited Warranty
Sunbeam Products, Inc. doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions or if in Canada, Sunbeam
Corporation (Canada) Limited doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions (collectively “JCS”)
warrants that for a period of one year from the date of purchase, this product will be free from
defects in material and workmanship. JCS, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any
component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be
made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available,
replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive
warranty. Do NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this
product. Doing so will void this warranty.
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is
not transferable. Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty
performance. JCS dealers, service centers, or retail stores selling JCS products do not have the right
to alter, modify or any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following:
negligent use or misuse of the product, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the
operating instructions, disassembly, repair or alteration by anyone other than JCS or an authorized
JCS service center. Further, the warranty does not cover: Acts of God, such as fire, flood, hurricanes
and tornadoes.
What are the limits on JCS's Liability?
JCS shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages caused by the breach of any
express, implied or statutory warranty or condition.
Except to the extent prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranty or condition of
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the duration of the above
warranty.
JCS disclaims all other warranties, conditions or representations, express, implied, statutory or
otherwise.
JCS shall not be liable for any damages of any kind resulting from the purchase, use or misuse of, or
inability to use the product including incidental, special, consequential or similar damages or loss of
profits, or for any breach of contract, fundamental or otherwise, or for any claim brought against

TOFILL THE WATER RESERVOIR (use tap water)
1. Make sure the iron is unplugged. Set the Steam Dial to (Dry) and the Fabric-Select
Dial to OFF.
2. Lift the Water Fill Hole Cover.
3. Fill water cup with tap water and pour water into iron water reservoir.
Do not fill water reservoir beyond maximum fill level.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of burns, be careful when filling a hot iron with water.
Hot metal parts, hot water and steam can cause injuries.
DRY IRONING
1. Make sure the Steam Dial is turned to the (Dry) setting.
2. Plug the cord into a 120-Volt AC outlet.
3. Turn the large Fabric Select Dial to the fabric setting you desire. Allow the iron to heat
for 2 minutes. While the iron is heating, make sure it is sitting on its heel rest on a
stable, protected surface.
NOTE: While the Steam Dial is turned to the (Dry) setting, you may still use the
SHOT OF STEAM®or SPRAY MIST®feature, as long as the Fabric Select Dial is set to
wool, cotton, or linen. Please make sure the water reservoir is approximately 1/4 full
of water.
STEAM IRONING
1. Follow the instructions for “Filling the Water Reservoir.”
2. Plug the cord into a 120-Volt AC outlet.
3. Turn the Fabric Select Dial to the fabric setting you desire. Allow the iron to heat for
2 minutes. While the iron is heating, make sure it is sitting on its heel rest on a stable,
protected surface.
IMPORTANT: When not ironing, always set the Steam Lever to (Dry) and the Fabric
Select Dial to OFF.
USING THE IRON’SSPECIAL FEATURES
SPRAY MIST®FEATURE is a powerful water spray mist that dampens the fabric
to aid in removing wrinkles from heavy fabrics and for setting creases.
TOUSE THE SPRAYMIST®FEATURE:Press the Spray Mist®button firmly.
SHOT OF STEAM®FEATURE provides an extra burst of steam for deep penetration
of stubborn wrinkles. You can use this feature while Dry or Steam ironing, as long as
the Fabric Select Dial is set to wool, cotton, or linen. The water reservoir must be
approximately 1/4 full of water.
TO USE THE SHOT OF STEAM®FEATURE:Place the iron on top of the wrinkle and press
the Shot of Steam®button each time you would like an extra burst of steam. The Shot
of Steam®feature may be used continuously in approximately 3-second intervals.
30 MINUTE TIMED AUTO-OFF (select models only)
When the iron is plugged in, the Auto-Off activates automatically after 30 minutes.
The Auto-Off will activate in any position after the 30 minutes. Once the Auto-Off
activates, the power indicator light will turn off and the iron stops heating.
TORESTART THE IRON:Unplug iron and plug back in to outlet.
If you do NOT want to iron any longer, unplug the iron. Then move the Variable Steam
Lever to (Dry) and the Fabric Select Slider to Off.
WARNING: The Auto-Off is a safety feature and is not a recommended means for turning
your iron off. See “Caring for Your Iron After Use.”
MOTION SMART®AUTO-OFF FEATURE (select models only)
When the iron is plugged in, the Power Indicator will light steadily, indicating that there is
power to the iron.
IF YOU LEAVE THE IRON:
• in a horizontal position without moving it, or accidentally tip the iron over, it will
automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The Power Indicator will blink to let you
know that the iron has stopped heating.
• in a vertical position (on its heel rest) without moving it, the iron will automatically turn
off after 15 minutes. The Power Indicator will blink to let you know that the iron has
stopped heating.
IMPORTANT: The Power Indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged
or reset.
TO RESET THE IRON:Move the iron back and forth and allow it to reheat for 2 minutes.
The indicator will stop blinking and the iron will start heating again.
WARNING: Motion Smart®Auto-Off is a safety feature, not a recommended means for
turning your iron off. See “Caring for Your Iron After Use” for information on turning off
your iron and storing it safely between use.
STORAGE STRIP™INDICATOR (select models only) is an easy way to see when the iron
is cool enough to store.
TO USE THE STORAGE STRIP™INDICATOR:When the iron is turned off, it will take the iron
approximately 30-40 minutes for the Storage Strip™Indicator to turn from red to black,
indicating that the iron is cool enough to store.
CAUTION: The STORAGE STRIP™indicator should only be used as a guideline.
The iron should always be handled and stored with care.
CARING FOR YOUR IRON AFTER USE
TURNING OFF YOUR IRON:Turn the Steam Dial to (Dry) and Fabric Select Dial to Off and
unplug the iron from the power source.
WARNING: NEVER yank the power cord when unplugging the iron. This can damage the cord.
STORING YOUR IRON
1. Turn off iron following instructions above. Allow the iron to cool.
2. If you do not use your iron on a daily basis, empty the water reservoir after each use for
a longer iron life. To do so, unplug the iron, turn the iron upside down, open the fill hole
cover, and allow water to flow from the fill hole. Shake the iron gently to remove
trapped water drops.
3. Loosely loop the power cord around the heel rest and store the iron on its heel rest.
IMPORTANT:Wrapping the cord around the iron too tightly can damage the cord.
MAINTAINING YOUR AUTO-OFF IRON
CLEANING THE SOLEPLATE:turn off iron following instructions above. Clean the soleplate if
starch or other residue accumulate.
TOCLEAN THE SOLEPLATE:allow the iron to cool and then wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.
WARNING: DO NOT use abrasive cleansers, scouring pads or vinegar to clean the soleplate.
This will damage the finish. Run the iron over an all-cotton cloth to remove any residue.
USING THE SELF-CLEANING FEATURE: You should use the Self-Cleaning feature once a month
to maintain the optimal performance of your iron.
TOUSE THE SELF-CLEANING FEATURE:
Turn off iron following instructions above.
1. Fill the water reservoir with tap water to the MAX line.
2. Plug in the iron, set the Fabric Select Dial to Linen and allow the iron to heat for 2 minutes.
3. Unplug the iron.
4. Hold the iron over a sink in a horizontal position.
WARNING: Be careful not to touch the iron’s hot surfaces.
5. Press the Self-clean Button and hold. Water will begin dripping from the steam vents.
Slowly rock the iron side to side and front to back for 30 seconds. When rocking the
iron, dip the nose of the iron slightly below the rear of the iron to make certain the
water circulates completely. Release the Self-clean Button after one minute.
6. Open the fill cap, turn the iron upside down, and allow the remaining water to flow out
of the fill hole.
7. Dry the soleplate with a towel.
8. Plug in the iron and set the Fabric Select Dial to Linen. Let the iron heat for 2 minutes to
dry out the iron completely.
9. Set the Fabric Select Dial to Off, unplug the iron, and allow it to cool.

REPASSAGE À SEC
1. Assurez-vous que le cadran du variateur de vapeur soit réglé à (sec).
2. Branchez le cordon sur une prise de courant alternatif de 120 volts.
3. Tournez le gros cadran de sélection des textiles au réglage voulu. Laissez chauffer le fer
pendant 2 minutes. Alors qu’il chauffe, assurez-vous que le fer soit posé sur son talon,
sur une surface protégée et parfaitement stable.
REMARQUE: Lorsque le cadran du variateur de vapeur est réglé à (repassage à sec),
vous pouvez utiliser la survapeur SHOT OF STEAMMD ou l’atomisation SPRAY MISTMD, à
condition que le textile sélectionné soit «Wool» (lainage), «Cotton» (cotonnades) ou
«Linen» (lin) et que le réservoir soit au moins au quart plein d’eau.
REPASSAGE À LA VAPEUR

HORS TENSION CHRONOMÉTRÉE 30 MINUTES (certains modèles seulement)
Quand le fer est branché, la hors tension est automatiquement activée au bout de
30 minutes et ceci, quelle que soit la position du fer. Lorsque la hors tension est activée, le
voyant d’alimentation s’éteint et le fer cesse de chauffer.
POUR RELANCER LE FER:Débranchez le fer puis rebranchez-le.
Si vous avez TERMINÉ votre séance de repassage, réglez le cadran du variateur de vapeur
à (sec), le cadran de sélection des textiles à Off (arrêt) puis débranchez le fer.

COUPURE AUTOMATIQUE MOTION SMARTMD (certains modèles seulement)
Quand vous branchez le fer à repasser, son voyant d’alimentation luit continuellement,
signe que le fer est sous tension.
SI VOUS LAISSEZ LE FER…
• à l’horizontale (à plat) sans le déplacer, ou bien si vous le renversez accidentellement, le
fer s’arrête automatiquement de chauffer après 30 secondes. Le voyant d’alimentation
clignote alors pour vous avertir que le fer a cessé de chauffer.
• à la verticale (sur son talon) sans le déplacer, le fer s’éteint automatiquement après
15 minutes. Le voyant d’alimentation clignote alors pour vous signaler que le fer a cessé
de chauffer.
IMPORTANT: Le voyant d’alimentation clignote ainsi jusqu’à ce que le fer soit débranché
ou relancé.
POUR RELANCER LE FER:Déplacez le fer d’avant en arrière puis laissez-le chauffer 2 minutes.
Le voyant d’alimentation cessera de clignoter et le fer recommencera à chauffer.

apporter au fer en fin d’utilisation» pour tous renseignements sur la façon d’éteindre le fer
et de le ranger entre utilisations.
L’INDICATEUR DE RANGEMENT STORAGE STRIPMC (certains modèles seulement)
laisse voir d’un simple coup d’œil si le fer a suffisamment refroidi pour être rangé.
POUR UTILISER L’INDICATEUR DE RANGEMENT STORAGE STRIPMC :Quand vous avez éteint le fer,
il faut compter entre 30 et 40 minutes pour que l’indicateur Storage StripMC passe du rouge
au noir, signe que le fer a suffisamment refroidi pour être rangé.
ATTENTION: Comme son nom l’indique, le STORAGE STRIPMC n’est qu’un indicateur.
Manipulez et rangez toujours le fer à repasser très prudemment.
SOINS ÀAPPORTER AU FER APRÈS L’UTILISATION
MISE HORS TENSION DU FER:Réglez le cadran de débit de vapeur à (sec), le cadran de
sélection des textiles à l’arrêt (Off) puis débranchez le fer à sa source d’alimentation.
AVERTISSEMENT: NE donnez surtout JAMAIS un coup sec sur le cordon pour débancher
le fer, vous abîmeriez le cordon
.
RANGEMENT DU FER
1. Éteignez le fer selon les instructions ci-haut. Laissez refroidir le fer.
2. Videz le fer en fin d’utilisation s’il ne sert pas tous les jours, ceci prolongera sa durée de
service. Pour ceci, débranchez-le, mettez-le pointe en bas puis ouvrez le volet de l’orifice
de remplissage afin que l’eau puisse s’écouler. Secouez doucement le fer pour libérer les
dernières gouttes.
3. Enroulez le cordon autour du talon, sans le tendre, puis rangez le fer sur son talon d’appui.
IMPORTANT: Enrouler le cordon d’alimentation en le tendant risque de l’abîmer.
ENTRETIEN DU FER À ARRÊT AUTOMATIQUE
NETTOYAGE DE LA SEMELLE:Éteignez le fer selon les instructions ci-haut. Nettoyez la
semelle si de l’amidon ou d’autres résidus y adhèrent.
POUR LA NETTOYER:Laissez refroidir le fer et frottez la semelle avec un linge doux humide.
AVERTISSEMENT: N’employez NI poudres, NI tampons à récurer, NI vinaigre pour
nettoyer la semelle, vous abîmeriez le fini. Donnez quelques coups de fer sur un linge pur
coton pour éliminer les résidus.
UTILISATION DE L’AUTONETTOYAGE: Nous vous encourageons vivement à l’utiliser une fois
par mois pour optimiser le rendement du fer.
POUR UTILISER L’AUTONETTOYAGE:
Éteignez le fer conformément aux instructions données ci-haut.
1. Remplissez le réservoir d’eau du robinet jusqu’au repère MAX de remplissage.
2. Branchez le fer et réglez le cadran de sélection des textiles à «Linen» (lin). Laissez
chauffer le fer pendant 2 minutes.
3. Débranchez le fer.
4. Tenez le fer horizontalement au-dessus d’un évier ou lavabo.
AVERTISSEMENT: Ne touchez surtout pas aux surfaces chaudes du fer!
5. Appuyez, sans le relâcher, sur le bouton d’autonettoyage. L’eau commencera à dégoutter
des évents à vapeur. Inclinez lentement le fer d’un côté et de l’autre et d’avant en arrière
pendant 30 secondes, tout en penchant la pointe avant un peu plus bas que le talon afin
que l’eau circule partout. Relâchez le bouton d’autonettoyage au bout d’une minute.
6. Ouvrez le volet de l’orifice de remplissage, mettez le fer la pointe en bas et laissez écouler
l’eau restante par l’orifice de remplissage.
7. Essuyez la semelle avec une serviette de toilette douce.
8. Branchez le fer et réglez le cadran de sélection des textiles à «Linen» (lin). Laissez
chauffer le fer pendant 2 minutes pour totalement l’assécher.
9. Réglez le cadran de sélection des textiles à l’arrêt (Off), débranchez le fer et laissez-le
refroidir.
