Always follow these safety guidelines. Failure to do so may
result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Product Description
This cordless earth auger is intended for noncommercial use only.
The auger is designed to dig holes in the ground. It is not
suitable for use on ice. The recommended maximum depth for
this auger is approximately 30" (76 cm).
General Safety
mWARNING! This tool is not intended for use by children
or by unassisted, unsupervised persons whose physical,
sensory or mental capabilities prevent them from using it
safely. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the tool.
Before starting up your tool, please check it carefully for any
defects. If you find any, do not start up your tool. Instead,
contact your authorized Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®dealer or
call the Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®customer service center at
1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
mWARNING! When using the power tool, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of
fire, electric shock, and personal injury. These include:
• Stay alert – Watch what you are doing. Use common
sense. Do not operate the tool when you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other medication.
• Know your product – Know how to start and stop the
tool. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and ensure
they are functioning properly.
• Use the right tool – Do not use this tool for any job
except for what it's intended for.
• Prevent unintentional starting – Ensure the switch is in
the off-position before connecting to battery pack, picking
up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the appliance with
your finger on the switch or energizing appliance that have
the switch on invites accidents.
• Do not force the tool – It will perform better with less
likelihood of personal or mechanical injury if it is used at
the rate for which it was designed.
• Moving parts – Keep hands and feet away from moving
parts. Keep a firm grip on both handles at all times during
operation to avoid loss of control.
• Personal protective equipment – Always use eye
protection, hearing protection and protective covering to
contain long hair.
• Dress properly – Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, as
such articles can become caught in moving parts.
• Avoid slipping – Maintain proper footing and balance
at all times to avoid slipping or falling. Wear non-slip
footwear to improve your footing on slippery surfaces.
• Avoid water - Do not expose the tool to rain, damp or wet
conditions. Do not immerse in water. Water entering the
unit will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Noise and vibrations – If the tool should start to vibrate
abnormally, stop the tool and inspect it thoroughly for
damage.
Work Area Safety
• Work area – Always inspect the area where the tool is to
be used and operate it in a well-lit environment. Do not
start using the product until you have a clear work area
and secure footing.
• Avoid dangerous environments – Do not operate the
tool in gaseous or explosive environments or use it near
flammable or combustible materials. Remove all objects
such as cords, lights, wire, or loose string which can
become entangled in the cutting blade and create a risk of
serious personal injury.
• Utility lines – Never operate tool in the vicinity of
underground electric, gas, water or telephone lines.
• Keep children, bystanders, and pets away –
All bystanders, including pets, should be kept a safe
distance away from the work area.
Maintenance + Storage
mWARNING! Do not use detergents, acids, alkaline
solutions, bleaches or solvents such as acetone to clean your
tool. These substances may damage the plastic housing of the
machine.

• Inspect the tool – Before use, visually inspect the tool for
any loose fasteners or damaged parts.
• Replacement parts – Inspect the tool for worn, missing,
or damaged parts. When servicing this unit, use only
identical replacement parts. Replace or repair damaged
parts immediately.
• Store indoors – When not in use, the tool should be
stored indoors in a dry place out of the reach of children.
• Maintain Appliance With Care – Keep cutting edge sharp
and clean for best performance and to reduce the risk of
injury. Follow instructions for changing accessories. Keep
handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
Auger Safety Warnings
• Replace auger pin if it is bent or damaged. Replace
augers if cracked, bent, or damaged in any way. Operating
the tool with a damaged auger can result in serious injury.
• Be sure the auger bit and handles are properly installed and
securely fastened. Failure to do so can cause serious injury.
• Use only the manufacturer’s replacement augers. Do not
use any other attachment.
• Do not modify the product in any way or use it to power
any attachments or devices not recommended by the
manufacturer.
• Hold the tool with both hands at the intended handles.
Never use the auger with the handles above waist level.
Operation above the waist restricts control of the auger
and may increase the risk of injury.
• Before starting the product, make sure the bit is not
contacting any object.
• Do not touch the auger bit when the product is switched
on. Keep all parts of the body away from the auger. The
auger will continue to move after the switch is turned off.
A moment of inattention while operating the auger may
result in serious personal injury.
• If the auger bit jams, stop the product immediately.
• Do not use the product when there is a possibility of
thunderstorm or lightning. Store the product safely
indoors.
• Hold the auger tool by insulated gripping surfaces only,
because the auger may contact hidden wiring. The auger
contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts
of the auger “live” and could give the operator an electric
shock.
Battery & Charger
Safety Instructions
We pay a great deal of attention to the design of every battery
pack to ensure that we supply you with batteries that are safe,
durable and have a high energy density. The battery cells have
a wide range of safety devices. Each individual cell is initially
formatted and its electrical characteristic curves are recorded.
This data is then used exclusively to be able to assemble the
best possible battery packs.
Despite all the safety precautions, caution must always be
exercised when handling batteries. The following points must
be obeyed at all times to ensure safe use. Safe use can only
be guaranteed if undamaged cells are used. Incorrect handling
of the battery pack can cause cell damage.
IMPORTANT! Analysesconrmthatincorrectuseandpoor
care of high-performance batteries are the main factors
responsible for product damage and/or personal injury.
mCAUTION! To reduce the risk of injury, use only official
24V iON+ designated chargers and battery packs. The use of
other batteries or chargers poses a risk of fire, personal injury
and damage.
mWARNING! Do not use a battery pack or product
that has been damaged or modified. Damaged or modified
batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire,
explosion or risk of injury.
Do not modify or attempt to repair the product or the battery
pack except as indicated in the instructions for use and care.
Do not wire a battery pack to a power supply or car cigarette
lighter, as such misuse will permanently disable or damage the
battery pack.
Haveyourbatterypackservicedbyaqualiedrepairperson
using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the
safety of the battery pack is maintained.
mWARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock,
always unplug the charger before performing any cleaning or
maintenance. Do not allow water to flow into the charger. Use
a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) to reduce the risk of
electric shock.
• Remove battery – Remove the battery pack from the tool
when not in use, before servicing, or before performing
any other maintenance task. Never leave the tool
unattended while switched on. In the event of an accident
or breakdown, switch off the tool immediately.
• Avoid dangerous environments – Do not charge the
battery pack in rain, snow or in damp or wet locations.
Do not use the battery pack or charger in the presence
of explosive atmospheres (gaseous fumes, dust or
flammable materials) because sparks may be generated
when inserting or removing the battery pack, which could
lead to a fire.
NOTE: The safe temperature range for the battery is
41°F (5°C) to 105°F (40.5°C). Follow all charging
instructions and do not charge the battery pack or
appliance outside of the temperature range specified in
the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures
outside of the specified range may damage the battery
and increase the risk of fire. Do not charge the battery
outside in freezing weather; charge it at room temperature.

• Charge in a well-ventilated area – Do not block the
charger vents. Keep them clear to allow for proper
ventilation. Do not allow smoking or open flames near a
charging battery pack. Vented gases may explode.
• Maintain charger cord – When unplugging the charger,
pull the plug, not the cord from the receptacle to reduce
the risk of damage to the power cord. Never carry the
charger by its cord. Keep the cord away from heat, oil and
sharp edges. Make sure the cord will not be stepped on,
tripped over or subjected to damage or stress when the
charger is in use. Do not use a charger with a damaged
cord or plug. Replace a damaged charger immediately.
• Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutely
necessary – Using the wrong, damaged or improperly
wired extension cord poses a risk of fire and electric
shock. If an extension cord must be used, plug the
charger into a properly wired 16 gauge or larger extension
cord with the female plug matching the male plug on the
charger. Make sure that the extension cord is in good
electrical condition.
• Do not burn or incinerate battery packs – Battery packs
may explode, causing personal injury or damage. Toxic
fumes and materials are created when battery packs are
burned.
• Do not crush, drop or damage battery packs – Do not
use the battery pack or charger if they have sustained
a sharp blow, been dropped from a height of more than
3 feet (1 meter), run over or have been damaged in any
way. Even if the housing of the battery pack appears to be
undamaged, the battery cells inside the battery may have
suffered serious damage. In such instances, please read
the waste disposal information for proper battery disposal.
• Do not disassemble – Incorrect reassembly may pose
a serious risk of electric shock, fire or exposure to toxic
battery chemicals. If the battery or charger are damaged,
contact an authorized Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®dealer or
call the Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®customer service center at
1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563) for assistance.
• Battery chemicals may cause serious burns –
Never let a damaged battery pack contact the skin,
eyes or mouth. If damaged, battery chemicals will react
violently with air; use rubber or neoprene gloves to safely
dispose of the battery. If skin is exposed to battery
chemicals, wash the affected area with soap and water. If
eyes are exposed to battery chemicals, immediately flush
with water for 20 minutes and seek medical attention.
Remove and dispose of contaminated clothing.
• Risk of short circuit – A battery pack will short circuit if
a metal object makes a connection between the positive
and negative contacts on the battery pack. Do not place a
battery pack near anything that may cause a short circuit,
such as paperclips, coins, keys, screws, nails and other
metallic objects. A short-circuited battery pack poses a
risk of fire and severe personal injury.
• Store your battery pack and charger in a cool, dry
place – Ideally, store the battery pack at 59°F (15°C) and
charged to at least 40%. Do not store the battery pack or
charger where temperatures may exceed 105ºF (40.5ºC),
such as in direct sunlight or inside a vehicle, or where
temperatures may drop below 41°F (5°C).
NOTE: Prevent the battery pack from freezing. Battery
packs that were stored below 32°F (0°C) for more than 60
minutes must be discarded.
• Charge before use – The battery pack supplied with your
power tool is only partially charged. The battery has to be
fully charged before using the product for the first time.
• Battery Aging – Lithium-ion batteries are subject to a
natural aging process. The battery pack must be replaced
at the latest when its capacity falls to just 80% of its
capacity when new. Weakened cells in an aged battery
pack are no longer capable of meeting the high power
requirements needed for the proper operation of your
power tool, and therefore pose a safety risk.
• Do not exhaustively discharge battery packs –
A complete discharge will damage the battery cells. The
most common cause of exhaustive discharge is lengthy
storage. Stop working as soon as the performance of the
battery falls noticeably or the electronic protection system
triggers. For optimum battery performance, charge the
battery pack frequently. Place the battery pack in storage
only after it has been fully charged.
• Do not overload battery packs – Protect the product and
batteries from overloading. Overloads will quickly result in
overheating and cell damage inside the battery housing
even if it is not apparent externally. For safety reasons,
the integrated protective cutoff will activate to switch off
the equipment. After regular use, allow the battery pack
to cool to room temperature before inserting it into the
charger to recharge.
IMPORTANT! Do not attempt to turn on the product if the
protective cut-off has been activated. This may damage
the battery pack.
• Do not expose the battery pack or appliance to fire or
excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature
above 265°F (130°C) may cause explosion.
• Outlet voltage – Please check the data marked on the
rating plate of the battery charger. Be sure to connect the
battery charger to a power supply with the voltage marked
on the rating plate. Never connect it to a different mains
voltage.
• Charger use – Do not use the supplied battery charger to
charge other types of battery packs or tools.
• Do not overcharge battery packs – Do not exceed
the maximum charging times. Frequently overcharging
the battery pack will result in cell damage. Do not leave
batteries in the charger for days on end.
• Battery pack abnormalities – Do not use batteries that
have suffered swelling or deformation or those that exhibit
other atypical symptoms (gassing, hissing, cracking, etc.).
• Electrostatic discharge – When handling batteries, be
wary of electrostatic charge. Electrostatic discharges can
damage the electronic protection system and the battery
cells. To avoid electrostatic discharges, never touch the
battery terminals.

1. Carefully remove the auger and check to see that all of the
above items are supplied.
2. Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage
or damage occurred during shipping. If you find damaged
or missing parts, DO NOT return the unit to the store.
Instead, please call the Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®customer
service center at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
NOTE: Do not discard the shipping carton and packaging
material until you are ready to use the auger. The
packaging is made of recyclable materials. Properly
dispose of these materials in accordance with local
regulations or save the packaging for long-term product
storage.
IMPORTANT! The equipment and packaging material are not
toys. Do not let children play with plastic bags, foils, or small

Battery + Charger Operation
The equipment is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The battery
pack is completely sealed and maintenance free.
Battery Charge Level Indicator
The battery pack is equipped with a push button for checking
thechargelevel.Simplypressthepushbuttontoreadothe
battery charge level from the LEDs of the battery indicator:

NOTE: If the battery indicator button does not appear to be
working, charge the battery.
NOTE: Immediately after using the battery pack, the battery
indicator button may display a lower charge than it will if
checked a few minutes later. The battery cells “recover” some
of their charge after resting.
mWARNING! Only charge Sun Joe®24V iON+ lithium-ion
battery packs with compatible Sun Joe®24V iON+ lithium-ion
chargers. Other types of chargers may cause personal injury
and damage.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not allow water to enter
into the charger.
Charging the Battery
1. Check that the mains voltage is the same as that marked
on the rating label of the battery charger. Then, plug the
charger into an AC power outlet. Slide the battery into the
charger to commence charging (Fig. 1).
NOTE: The green LED indicates either a powered on
charger or a fully charged battery. The red LED indicates a
charging battery.

2. Remove the battery once fully charged.
NOTE: A fully discharged battery at room temperature will
fully charge in 1 hr 50 mins.
IMPORTANT! Never allow the battery pack to become
fully discharged as this will cause irreversible damage to
the battery.

Assembly
mWARNING! Accidental starting may result in serious
personal injury; always remove the battery pack from the tool
before assembly.
Bit Installation
1. Turn the auger body upside down.
2. Insert the auger bit onto the chuck, then slide the locking
pin through both the bit and the chuck (Fig. 2).
3. Flip the wire latch over the locking pin to secure it in place
(Fig. 3).

Operation
mWARNING! Contact your local utility provider for
information regarding underground utilities before using this
tool. To reduce the risk of explosion, never use the auger near
any buried gas lines, water lines or pipes. Contact with or use
near buried water or gas lines may result in rupturing of water
lines or detonation of gas lines, which may lead to serious
injury or death.

In the event that the auger detects kickback or overloading of

Remove the battery, and if necessary, allow the motor to cool
before resuming operation.

1. Slide the battery into the battery compartment (Fig. 4).

2. Select between forward and reverse (Fig. 5):
• Forward – Bit spins clockwise to dig into the ground.
• Reverse – Bit spins counter-clockwise to reverse out of
the ground.
mWARNING! Always keep both hands on the handles.
Improper operation of the tool may result in serious injury.
3. Assume a secure stance and grip the auger handles firmly
with both hands. Position the auger away from your body
and at waist level. Ensure the auger is perpendicular (90°)
to the ground (Fig. 6).
4. Push the safety lock and pull the trigger. Allow the bit a
couple of seconds to spool up before lowering it into the
ground (Fig. 7).
NOTE: Allow the screwing action of the auger flights to do
the work.

5. As the hole begins to fill up, periodically lift the auger out
to clear the debris.
6. Release the trigger and remove the battery when not in
use or before transporting the tool.
Care + Maintenance
mWARNING! Always switch the product off, remove the
battery, and let the product cool completely before inspecting,
cleaning, or performing any other maintenance task.
mWARNING! Only perform the repairs and maintenance
work described in this manual. Any other work must be
performed by a qualified technician.
General Cleaning
Keep the product clean. Remove any debris after each use
and before storage.
• Clean the product with a dry cloth. Use a brush for areas
that are hard to reach.
• Be sure to clean the air vents after every use with a brush
or compressed air.
General Maintenance
• Check for worn or damaged parts. Replace worn parts as
necessary or contact the Snow Joe®+ Sun Joe®customer
service center at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563) for
repair before using the product again.
• After prolonged use, the bit will become worn and
lose some of their original effectiveness and should be
replaced.
Storage
• Remove the battery from the tool before storing.
• Store the tool and its accessories in a dry, frost-free, and
well-ventilated place out of the reach of children.
• The ideal storage temperature is between 50ºF (10°C) and
86ºF (30°C).
• We recommend using the original packaging or covering
the product with a cloth for storage to protect it against
excessive dust build up.

Battery + Charger Storage
• Store the battery pack and charger at room temperature
and away from moisture. Do not store in damp locations
where corrosion of terminals may occur.
• Permanent damage may occur if the pack is stored for
extended periods of time at high temperatures (over
120ºF/49ºC).
• Unplug the battery charger and battery pack when not in
use. Recharge the battery pack every 6 months to 50%
capacity to maintain optimal battery performance.
Battery Caution + Disposal
Always dispose of your battery pack according to federal,
state, and local regulations. Contact a recycling agency in your
area for recycling locations.
mCAUTION! Even discharged battery packs contain
some energy. Before disposing, use electrical tape to cover the
terminals to prevent the battery pack from shorting, which may
cause a fire or explosion.
mWARNING! To reduce the risk of injury or explosion,
never burn or incinerate a battery pack even if it is damaged,
dead, or completely discharged. When burned, toxic fumes
and materials are emitted into the surrounding environment.
Recycling + Disposal
The product comes in a package that protects it against
damage during shipping. Keep the package until you are
sure that all parts have been delivered and the product is
functioning properly. Recycle the package afterwards or keep
it for long-term storage.
WEEE symbol. Waste electrical products should not
be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle
where facilities exist. Check with your local authority
or local store for recycling regulations.

Snow Joe warrants new, genuine, powered and non-powered Products to be free from defects in material or workmanship when used
for ordinary household use for a period of two years from the date of purchase by the original, end-user purchaser when purchased
from Snow Joe or from one of Snow Joe’s authorized sellers with proof of purchase. Because Snow Joe is unable to control the quality
of its Products sold by unauthorized sellers, unless otherwise prohibited by law, this Warranty does not cover Products purchased from

Mantenimiento y almacenamiento

• Inspeccione la herramienta: antes del uso, inspeccione
visualmente la herramienta en busca de cualquier

• Partes de repuesto: inspeccione la herramienta en
busca de partes gastadas, dañadas o faltantes. Al reparar
esta herramienta, utilice solamente partes de repuesto

la barrena de suelo inalámbrica deberá ser guardado en

accesorios. Mantenga los mangos secos, limpios y libres

Advertencias de seguridad
de la barrena
• Reemplace la clavija de la barrena si está doblada o
dañada. Reemplace la barrena si está quebrada, doblada
o dañada de forma alguna. Operar esta herramienta con
una barrena dañada puede causar graves lesiones.
• Asegúrese de que la broca y los mangos de la barrena
estén instalados y ajustados de forma correcta y segura.

• Use solo una broca de repuesto del fabricante. No use
ningún otro accesorio.

• Sujete la herramienta con ambas manos en sus mangos

incrementar el riesgo de lesiones.

cargador
Prestamos mucha atención al diseño de cada batería para
garantizar la producción de baterías seguras y durables, con
alta densidad de energía. Las celdas de las baterías tienen
varios dispositivos de seguridad. Cada celda individual es
inicialmente formateada y sus curvas eléctricas características
son registradas. Estos datos son luego usados exclusivamente
para ensamblar las mejores baterías posibles.
Independientemente de todas las precauciones de seguridad,
se debe tener mucho cuidado al manipular la batería. Las
siguientes instrucciones deben ser obedecidas en todo
momento para garantizar un uso seguro. Un uso seguro solo
puede ser garantizado si se usan celdas libres de daños. Una
manipulación incorrecta de la batería puede causar daños en
sus celdas.

que haya sido dañado o modificado. Una batería dañada o
modificada puede reaccionar impredeciblemente, causando
un incendio, explosión o lesiones personales.
Nomodiqueniintenterepararelproductoosubatería,a

uso y cuidado. No conecte una batería a un tomacorriente
doméstico o encendedor de cigarrillos en un vehículo, ya que

m¡ADVERTENCIA! Para reducir el riesgo de un choque

cabo cualquier tarea de limpieza o mantenimiento. No permita
que entre agua dentro del cargador. Use un interruptor de
circuito por falla a tierra (GFCI) para reducir el riesgo de un
choque eléctrico.
• Retire la batería: retire la batería de la herramienta
cuando esta última no esté siendo usada, antes de
repararla, o antes de realizar cualquier otra tarea de
mantenimiento en esta. Nunca deje la herramienta sin
atender mientras esté encendida. En caso de accidente o
desperfecto, apague la herramienta inmediatamente.
• Evite entornos peligrosos: no cargue la batería bajo la
lluvia o nieve, ni en lugares húmedos o mojados. No use
la batería ni el cargador en atmósferas explosivas (gases,
polvo o materiales inflamables) ya que al insertar o retirar
la batería se pueden generar chispas que causen un
incendio.
NOTA: el rango seguro de temperaturas para la
batería es de 41°F (5°C) a 105°F (40.5°C). Siga todas
las instrucciones de carga, y no cargue la batería o
artefacto fuera del rango de temperaturas especificado
en las instrucciones. Cargar de forma incorrecta o a
temperaturas fuera del rango especificado puede dañar
la batería e incrementar el riesgo de incendio. No cargue
la batería en exteriores a temperaturas congelantes.
Cárguela a temperatura ambiente en interiores.
• Cargue en un área bien ventilada: no bloquee los
conductos de ventilación. Manténgalos despejados para
permitir una ventilación adecuada. No permita que se
fume o haya fuego abierto cerca de una batería siendo
cargada. Los gases presentes pueden explotar.
• Cuide el cable de alimentación del cargador: al
desenchufar el cargador tire del enchufe, no del cable de
alimentación, para desconectarlo del tomacorriente y así
evitar daños al cable de alimentación. Nunca levante el
cargador por el cable. Mantenga el cable alejado del calor,
grasas y bordes afilados. Asegúrese de que el cable no
sea pisado, que la gente no se tropiece con éste, ni que
esté sujeto a daños o tensiones mientras el cargador esté
siendo usado. No use un cargador con un cable o enchufe
dañado. Reemplace un cargador dañado inmediatamente.
• No use un cable de extensión a menos que sea
absolutamente necesario: usar un cable de extensión
incorrecto, dañado, o conectado de forma inapropiada
puede causar un incendio o choque eléctrico. Si se
debe usar un cable de extensión, conecte el cargador a
un cable de extensión de calibre 16 (o más grueso) de
alambrado adecuado, con el enchufe macho del cargador
encajando perfectamente en el enchufe hembra del cable
de extensión. Verifique que el cable de extensión esté en
buenas condiciones.
• No queme ni incinere baterías: las baterías pueden
explotar, causando lesiones personales o daños. Las
baterías generan sustancias y humos tóxicos al ser
quemadas.
• No triture, deje caer ni dañe la batería: no use la batería
ni el cargador si han sido severamente golpeados, se
han dejado caer desde una altura mayor de 3 pies (1 m),
se han aplastado, o se han dañado de cualquier forma.
Incluso si la carcasa de la batería no parezca tener daños,
las celdas dentro de la batería pueden haber sufrido
daños severos. En dichos casos, lea la información
sobre eliminación para deshacerse apropiadamente de la
batería.
• No desarme las baterías ni el cargador:un
reensamblado incorrecto puede presentar un riesgo
severo de choque eléctrico, fuego o exposición a
químicos tóxicos de la batería. Si la batería o el cargador
están dañados, contacte a un concesionario autorizado

• Los químicos de las baterías causan quemaduras
severas: nunca deje que una batería dañada haga
contacto con la piel, ojos o boca. Si la batería está
dañada, los químicos que escapen de ésta reaccionarán
violentamente con el aire. Use guantes de hule o
neopreno para deshacerse de la batería de forma segura.
Si la piel es expuesta a las sustancias químicas de la
batería, lave el área afectada con agua y jabón. Si los ojos
son expuestos a las sustancias químicas, inmediatamente
enjuáguelos con agua durante 20 minutos y busque
atención médica. Quítese y deshágase de las vestimentas
contaminadas.
• Riesgo de cortocircuito: una batería puede hacer
cortocircuito si un objeto metálico hace conexión entre
los contactos positivo y negativo de la batería. No
coloque una batería cerca de objetos que puedan causar
un cortocircuito tales como monedas, sujetapapeles,
tornillos, clavos, llaves u otros objetos metálicos. Una
batería cortocircuitada representa un riesgo de incendio y
lesiones personales severas.
• Guarde su batería y cargador en un lugar fresco y
seco: idealmente, guarde la batería a 59°F (15°C) y
cargada al menos a un 40%. No guarde la batería ni el
cargador donde la temperatura pueda exceder los 105ºF
(40.5ºC), como bajo la luz directa del sol o dentro de un
vehículo, o donde la temperatura pueda caer por debajo
de los 41°F (5°C).
NOTA:evite que la batería se congele. Las baterías
almacenadas a temperaturas menores de 32°F (0°C) por
más de una hora deberán ser desechadas.
• Cargue antes del uso: la batería suministrada con su
herramienta motorizada está cargada solo de forma
parcial. La batería tiene que ser cargada por completo
antes de usar el producto por primera vez.

• Desgaste de la batería: las baterías de iones de litio
están sujetas a un proceso natural de desgaste. Una
batería debe ser reemplazada a más tardar cuando
su capacidad caiga a un 80% de su capacidad inicial,
cuando estaba nueva. Las celdas debilitadas en una
batería gastada no cumplirán con los requisitos de alta
potencia necesarios para la operación adecuada de su
herramienta motorizada y, por tanto, representan un
riesgo de seguridad.
• No descargue la batería de forma exhaustiva: una
descarga completa dañará las celdas de la batería.
La causa más común de descarga exhaustiva es
un almacenamiento prolongado. Deje de trabajar
tan pronto como el rendimiento de la batería caiga
considerablemente o se active el sistema de protección
electrónico. Para un rendimiento óptimo de la batería,
cárguela de forma frecuente. Almacene la batería
únicamente luego de haberla cargado por completo.
• No sobrecargue las baterías: proteja el producto y
las baterías contra las sobrecargas. Las sobrecargas
causarán rápidamente un sobrecalentamiento y daños a
las celdas dentro de la batería, incluso si por fuera éstos
no son aparentes. Por motivos de seguridad, el sistema
interruptor de corte de protección se activará para
apagar el equipo. Después de un uso regular, permita
que la batería se enfríe a temperatura ambiente antes de
insertarla en el cargador para su recarga.
¡IMPORTANTE! No intente arrancar el producto si el
sistema interruptor de corte de protección ha sido
activado. Esto puede dañar la batería.
• No exponga la batería o artefacto al fuego o a
temperaturas extremas. Una exposición al fuego o a
temperaturas por encima de los 265°F (130°C) puede
causar una explosión.
• Voltaje de tomacorriente: verifique la información
indicada en la placa de especificaciones del cargador de
baterías. Asegúrese de conectar el cargador de baterías a
una fuente de alimentación que tenga el voltaje indicado
en su placa de especificaciones. Nunca lo conecte a una
fuente de alimentación con un voltaje distinto al indicado.
• Uso del cargador: no use el cargador de baterías
suministrado para cargar otros tipos de baterías o
herramientas.
• No sobrecargue las baterías: no exceda los tiempos
máximos de carga. Una sobrecarga frecuente de la batería
causará daños a las celdas de la batería. No deje las
baterías en el cargador por días enteros.
• Anormalidades de la batería: no use baterías que se
hayan deformado o hinchado, o aquellas que muestren
otros síntomas atípicos tales como liberación de gases,
zumbidos, grietas, etc.
• Descarga electrostática: al manipular una batería, tenga
cuidado con las descargas electrostáticas. Las descargas
electrostáticas pueden dañar el sistema electrónico
de protección y las celdas de la batería. Para evitar las
descargas electrostáticas, nunca toque los terminales de
la batería.

Operación de la batería y el
cargador
La unidad es alimentada por una batería de iones de litio.
La batería está completamente sellada y no requiere de
mantenimiento.
Indicador de nivel de carga de batería
La batería tiene un botón para comprobar su nivel de carga.
Simplemente presione el botón para leer el nivel de carga de la
batería en los LED indicadores de la batería.
Luces Significado
Botón indicador de nivel de carga.
La batería está cargada a un 30%.
La batería está cargada a un 60%.
La batería está cargada por completo.
NOTA:si el botón indicador de batería no parece estar
funcionando, cargue la batería.
NOTA: inmediatamente luego del uso de la batería, el botón
indicador de batería puede mostrar una carga más baja que la
que se mostrará algunos minutos después. Las celdas de una
batería “recuperan” parte de su carga luego de que la batería
haya estado inactiva.
m¡ADVERTENCIA! Cargue la batería de iones de litio
iON+ de 24 V Sun Joe®solo con un cargador de baterías
de iones de litio iON+ de 24 V Sun Joe®. Otros tipos de
cargadores pueden causar lesiones personales y daños.
Para reducir el riesgo de un choque eléctrico, no permita que
entre agua al cargador.
Carga de la batería
1. Compruebe que el voltaje de la red sea el mismo que
el indicado en la etiqueta de especificaciones del
cargador de baterías. Luego, enchufe el cargador en un
tomacorriente CA. Deslice la batería dentro del cargador
para empezar la carga (Fig. 1).
NOTA: la luz LED verde indica un cargador encendido
o una batería completamente cargada. La luz LED roja
indica una batería cargándose.

2. Retire la batería una vez que esté cargada por completo.
NOTA: una batería totalmente descargada a temperatura
ambiente se cargará por completo en 1 hora 50 minutos.
¡IMPORTANTE! Nunca permita que la batería se
descargue por completo ya que esto le causará un daño
irreversible.

Ensamblado
m¡ADVERTENCIA! Un encendido accidental puede
resultar en severas lesiones personales. Siempre retire la
batería de la herramienta antes de su ensamblado.
Instalación de broca
1. Voltee el cuerpo de la barrena.
2. Inserte la broca dentro del portabrocas, luego deslice la
clavija de trabado a través de los orificios de la broca y
del portabrocas (Fig. 2).
3. Pase el pestillo de alambre sobre la clavija de trabado
para asegurarla en su lugar (Fig. 3).

Operación
m¡ADVERTENCIA! Comuníquese con su proveedor de
servicios públicos para saber acerca de líneas o tuberías bajo
tierra antes de usar esta herramienta. Para reducir el riesgo
de una explosión, nunca use la barrena cerca de una tubería
subterránea de gas o agua. El contacto con, o uso cerca
de, estas tuberías de agua o gas puede causar la ruptura de
la tubería de agua o explosión del gas, causando lesiones
personales graves o la muerte.

En caso la barrena detecte contragolpe o descarga del
motor, se apagará de forma automática para evitar lesiones
personales o daños a la herramienta.
Retire la batería y, de ser necesario, permita que el motor se
enfríe antes de reiniciar la operación.
