T hank you for choosing the SunnCamp Strand 390 Plus Awning. Before a tempting to fit this awning to your caravan, please ensure you have fully read and understood this instruction
sheet. Should there be anything that is unclear to you, then please refer to your supplier for additional instruction. If you follow these instructions when erecting and dismantling, packing and
storing then you should enjoy many years of trouble free use.

Awning Flysheet 1
It is essential that you check that all parts listed above are present BEFORE leaving home. It is also
strongly recommended to have a trial set up at home prior to proper use. Failure to do so could affect
your warranty. If any part is missing, contact your SunnCamp retailer for advice.
BEFORE YOU START
Unpack all the parts of your awning and
ensure that everything is present. Make
sure that the carry bag is put away
somewhere safe.
POLES
All poles are in sections which are pre linked
together, take each pole in turn and slot the
sections together. Shock corded fibreglass
roof poles - Insert the fibreglass section fully
into the steel ferrule.
Adjustable steel leg poles/rear support
poles/roof support poles - Ensure that the
swaged sections of these steel poles are
fully inserted up to their wider shoulder.
These steel poles are in two pieces, slide
the adjustable end section onto the main
pole with the Quick Lock Bracket open.
FLYSHEET
Unfold the awning’s flysheet and locate the
rear edge fitted with beading strip. Slide the
beaded rear edge into the caravan’s awning
channel and position as required. Take a
fibreglass pole, one end is fitted with a
plastic ‘bung’. Insert the pole, bung end first,
into one of the flysheet’s external sleeves.
The pole’s end should locate firmly into the
reinforced pocket at the top of the awning’s
roof. Next take a steel leg (with the angle at
the top) and insert the exposed end of the
fibreglass roof pole, the other end of the leg
should locate onto a ‘ring & pin’ at the base
of the awning (release the Quick Lock
Bracket when locating the pole end onto the
pin, then extend the pole to tension and
close the Quick Lock Bracket’s lever firmly).
The ring to which the pin is attached is fitted
to the awning by means of an adjustable
webbing strap, this can be loosened to make
fitting of the pole easy and then fully
tensioned to ensure a tight fit (this ring is
also used later as one of the pegging points
for the awning).Once the pole is in place
attach the flysheet’s fitted ‘C’ clips down it’s
length. Repeat this process with the
remaining three sets of poles. Bring the
awning to an upright position by pegging the
corner guy lines, these may need to be re-
pegged at a later stage.

ROOF SUPPORT POLES
To aid the awning’s rigidity it is supplied with
two steel Roof Support Bars, these are
adjustable in length. Firstly loosen the
‘Quick Lock Bracket’ using the simple lever
action and from inside the awning insert the
flattened end of the pole’s fixed length into
the webbing retainer pocket at one side of
the awning. Lift the pole up and extend so
that the adjustable section’s flattened end
can slide into the retaining pocket at the
opposite side, bring the pole under tension
and secure by pressing the Quick Lock
Bracket’s lever fully down. Once in place tie
the two ribbons and fasten the velcro*in the
middle of the awning around the pole to hold
it in place to prevent any sagging. Repeat
this process with the second Roof Support
Pole.
PEGGING
You can now start to peg your awning out.
All pegging points MUST be used whatever
the weather condition. Pegs should always
be inserted at a 45 degree angle, pointing
away from the awning, for greatest strength.
Please note that the awning is fitted with
‘Ladder Band’ pegging points to allow height
variation. Always peg at a point on the ladder
that applies tension to the flysheet but do not
over stress. The ladder bands are a
perishable component of your awning and
should you need replacements, are available
to purchase from your dealer. Start by
pegging the ladder bands at the two points
closest to the caravan ensuring that the line
of the side walls are vertical and close to the
caravan’s side to achieve a snug fit. Next
peg the two front corners keeping a straight
line, achieving tension in all three walls of the
awning. Finally peg all remaining points
around the awning including those inside
where the flysheet returns along the wall of
the caravan. Never use your foot to push a
peg into the ground, always use a suitable
mallet/hammer for the type of peg being
used.
GUY ROPES
All guy ropes must be secured, each with it’s
own peg at a suitable distance from the
awning. Tighten each guy rope equally using
the sliding guy line runner to bring the
flysheet into shape and under tension. Do
NOT over tighten! Remember that the guy
ropes pegged at the beginning of the
process may now need repositioning to
achieve the best results. Having completed
the pegging and guying process, the flysheet
should now be tight and under tension.
FRONT CANOPY
Insert the canopy support pole into the
sleeve which runs around the front edge of
the canopy. The ends of the canopy support
pole fit into the eyelets on the webbing straps
at either side of the canopy.
ADJUSTABLE REAR WEATHER PAD
POLES
The two rear vertical support poles fit into
reinforced pockets at the top rear corners of
the awning. Extend the pole and tension with
the lever action Quick Lock Brackets to
create a seal between the rear pads and the
caravan wall. Secure to the flysheet with the
velcro fastenings

WEATHER SKIRT
The awning is fitted with a weather skirt at
the base. Make sure this is neatly and
correctly laid and pegged out to help shed
away water from your awning.
WINDOWS
All windows are fitted with internal curtains
for privacy. When opening the curtains, they
can simply be rolled out of the way and
secured with the toggle and loop fixings.
When closed, the curtains can also be
secured in place with similar fixings.
FRONT DOORS
The awning has three front entrances, two
are single skinned and the middle door has a
secondary mesh panel allowing the door to
open to provide ventilation, whilst keeping
insects out. The solid outer door and the
inner mesh door can independently be rolled
to the side and secured with toggle and loop
fixings. The other two doors can be unzipped
and rolled up out of the way and secured in
place with toggle and loop fixings. These
doors can also be used as a canopy with the
addition of Canopy Pole Sets which are
available from your SunnCamp dealer as an
optional accessory. When closing any of the
doors ensure that the the zips are fully
secured and the protective flap is in place
and secured by the velcro tabs to prevent
water ingress. When not in use doors should
be fully pegged.
SIDE PANELS
Both awning sides have zip-out panels. The
panels can be used as a door which can be
rolled back and secured with toggle and loop
fixings.
WARRANTY
Your new SunnCamp awning is covered by the Manufacturer’s Warranty against any manufacturing defect for a twelve month period from the date of
purchase. During this period the Company undertakes to replace or repair, free of charge, any defect which the Company considers to be due to faulty
workmanship or material. Please ensure you retain your receipts and proof of purchase for this period.
The following items are NOT COVERED by the products Manufacturers Warranty;
•General wear and tear.
•Defects arising from neglect, misuse or unauthorized modifications.
•Damage caused by storms, winds or other inclement weather conditions.
•Damage caused by abuse, misuse or other similar damage caused by, or as a result of, failure to follow storage or erection instructions.
•Moisture appearing on the inside of the flysheet, this is caused by condensation and is not a leak.
•Leakage through the seams of the tent due to excessive abrasion and damage to the seam sealant tape.
•Seams coming apart as a result of over tensioning.
•Broken or damaged zips/buckles caused by undue force, jamming or incorrect pegging.
•Damaged carry bag if due to being overloaded, incorrect packing of tent or general misuse.
•ALL pole breakages – these are a perishable part of your tent and are regarded as ‘Fair wear and tear’. They are normally due to undue stress in
the erection or dismantling procedures.
•Collateral damage arising from a pole breakage (such as ripped pole sleeve or flysheet)
•Damage caused by the incorrect pitching or dismantling of the tent/awning.
•Any damage sustained due to cooking inside the tent/awning.
•Damage caused due to UV degradation.
•Unauthorised alterations, additions or repairs.
•Transportation or shipment costs to and from the Manufacturer or their recognised agents, for repair or assessment against a warranty claim.
•Awnings/tents used on permanent sites or displays or commercial use by rental companies.
THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS
The Manufacturer and/or their recognised agents, directors, employees or insurers will not be held liable for consequential or other damages, losses or
expenses in connection with or by reason of or the inability to use the awning for any purpose.
NOTE; Any claim(s) arising due to missing parts or faulty goods MUST be made before use. The manufacturer will not be responsible for any claims
regarding missing parts or faulty items where the product has not been checked by the user prior to use.
In the event of a faulty extension being returned, it must be sent in a completely dry and clean condition. Failure to do so will affect your warranty.
ANNEXES
To fit, fully remove the zip-out side panels
and zip-in an optional Bedroom Annexe
(complete with inner tent) or an Entry Porch
(with integral canopy). These annexes are
compatible with both sides of the awning.
GROUNDSHEET
This awning is not supplied with a
groundsheet. There is an optional, made to
measure, breathable PE groundsheet/
underlay and breathable awning carpet for
this awning available from your SunnCamp
dealer.
DISMANTLING
When taking the awning down simply
reverse the set up procedure. Ensure that
you take all parts with you and that they are
clean and dry. Place the poles and pegs in
the bags provided before packing the awning
away in it’s carry bag. Please also to refer to,
and take notice of, the ‘Care’ section on this
page.
SAFETY
It is always advisable when camping to have
a ‘Fire Bucket’ filled with water in case of
emergencies. Please be aware that your
awning is flame retardant but NOT fire proof.
Do not smoke, cook or use a naked flame in
or near this awning.
VENTILATION
Try to keep your awning well ventilated to
reduce condensation. Moisture collecting on
the inside of the flysheet is condensation and
NOT a sign of leakage.
SEAMS
All the main seams of this awning are hot air
taped to help reduce leaking. Any other
seams, or where taping has become
damaged, should be treated with a seam
sealant.
CARE
Should you have to pack the product away
when wet or damp, the awning and all parts
(including guy ropes) MUST be dried out fully
as soon as possible and not left packed wet
for an extended period. Failure to do so will
result in damage to your awning which is not
covered under your warranty. The flysheet
should only be cleaned using fresh clean
water and a clean cloth. Do not use
detergents or chemical cleaners as these will
affect the waterproofing of your awning.
Repairs to the awning should only be made
by SunnCamp’s recommended agents.
Repairs made by an unauthorized third party
will make the manufacturer’s warranty void.
UV DETERIORATION
Prolonged exposure to UV can weaken the
flysheet’s fabric and reduce the awnings life.
If possible try and camp in shaded areas.
CARBON MONOXIDE
It is important to remember that carbon
monoxide can kill. Your awning is of course
well ventilated and does not feature a sewn
in groundsheet, however still NEVER use a
fuel-burning appliance inside your awning.
Even a warm barbecue can be lethal.
