NORMAS GENERALES DE SEGURIDAD
ADVERTENCIA: No intente operar esta des-
brozadora hasta que haya leido y comprendido
completamente todas las instrucciones y reglas
de seguridad contenidas en este manual, el no
cumplir con todas estas indicaciones podrían
provocar accidentes o daños personales serios.
Guarde el manual de operacion y mantengalo
a la mano para cuando lo necesite o necesite
instruir a alguien más del como utilizar la he-
rramienta.
PRECAUCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
• Para una operación segura, lea y entienda
todas las instrucciones antes de usar este pro-
ducto.
• Los gases emanados del escape contienen
monóxido de carbono, un gas tóxico sin olor
o color. La inhalación de monóxido de carbo-
no puede causar lesiones cerebrales serias o la
muerte. Nunca arranque ni accione el motor en
un área cerrada o con poca ventilación.
• Limpie el área de trabajo cada vez antes de
usar la unidad. Retire todos los objetos tales
como piedras, vidrios rotos, clavos, alambre o
cuerdas que pudiesen resultar lanzados o en-
redados en el hilo de corte o cuchilla, según
sea el caso.
• Para utlizar este producto utilice anteojos de
seguridad o gafas protectoras marcados con el
sello de cumplimiento de las normas de segu-
ridad locales.
• Use equipo de seguridad como pantalones
largos de tela gruesa, botas y guantes. No use
ropa holgada o pantalones cortos o ande des-
calzo. No se utilice joyas de ninguna clase.
• Mantenga alejadas a todas las personas,
niños y animales a una distancia mínima de 15
metros (50 pies).
• No use esta unidad cuando se encuentre fa-
tigado, enfermo o bajo los efectos del alcohol,
drogas o medicamentos.
• No utilice la unidad en condiciones decien-
tes de iluminación.
• Mantenga una postura rme y bien equili-
brada. No trate de alcanzar objetos fuera de su
alcance. Al tratar de hacerlo puede perder el
equilibrio o exponerse al contacto con super-
ficies calientes.
• Mantenga todas las partes del cuerpo aleja-
das de todas las partes móviles.
• Para evitar tocar supercies calientes, al utili-
zar esta unidad nunca coloque la parte inferior
de la misma arriba del nivel de la cintura.
• No toque las áreas alrededor del silenciador o
del cilindro de la unidad, estas partes se calien-
tan durante el funcionamiento.
• Siempre apague el motor y retire el cable de
la bujía antes de realizar cualquier ajuste o re-
paraciones, excepto para los ajustes del carbu-
rador.
• Inspeccione la unidad antes de usarla para
verificar que no haya tornillos flojos, fugas de
combustible, etc. Reemplace toda pieza daña-
das antes de utilizar la unidad.
• El cabezal del hilo, gira durante los ajustes
del carburador.
TOME EN CUENTA LO SIGUIENTE: Algunos
informes médicos indican que, en algunas per-
sonas, las vibraciones de las herramientas ma-
nuales pueden contribuir a una afección mé-
dica llamada síndrome de Raynaud. Entre los
posibles síntomas está el hormigueo, el entu-
mecimiento y la palidez de los dedos, sínto-
mas presentes normalmente con la exposición
al frío. Se cree que los factores hereditarios, la
exposición al frío y a la humedad, la dieta, el
fumar y las prácticas de trabajo contribuyen al
desarrollo de estos síntomas. Actualmente se
desconoce qué tipo de vibraciones o cuánto
tiempo de exposición a las mismas, si tal es el
caso, pueden contribuir a la mencionada afec-
ción. Hay medidas de precaución que puede
tomar el operador para reducir posiblemente
los efectos de la vibración:
a) Mantenga caliente el cuerpo en tiempos
de frío. Al utilizar la unidad use guantes para
mantener calientes las manos y las muñecas.
Los informes médicos indican que el clima frío
es un factor importante que contribuye al sín-
drome de Raynaud.
b) Después de cada período de operación de la
unidad, haga ejercicio para aumentar la circu-
lación de la sangre.
c) Tome descansos frecuentes durante el traba-
jo. Limite la cantidad de exposición al día.
d) Mantenga la herramienta bien cuidada, con
los elementos de sujeción debidamente apre-

tados y siempre cambiando las piezas desgas-
tadas. Si sufre alguno de los síntomas de esta
afección médica, inmediatamente suspenda el
uso de la herramienta y consulte a su médico
con respecto a estos síntomas.
PRECAUCIONES DE REABASTECIMIENTO Y MA-
NEJO DE COMBUSTIBLE
• La gasolina es altamente inamable y puede
ser explosiva bajo ciertas circunstancias, crean-
do condiciones potenciales que produzcan
quemaduras graves. Cuando vaya a reabaste-
cer de combustible, realice mantenimiento,
drenar la gasolina y/o cuando vaya a ajustar el
carburador: Detenga el motor y permita que se
enfríe antes de abastecer. NO fume cerca del
área de reabastecimiento.
• Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada
y no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que
no haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún
tipo de aparato.
• NO sobrellene el depósito de combustible de
manera que esté por encima del indicador de
nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el depósito, el calor
puede producir que el combustible se expanda
y que se derrame. Limpie inmediatamente la
gasolina derramada.
• Los motores pueden calentarse extremada-
mente durante su operación normal.
· Para evitar el peligro del incendio: Coloque
el motor a una distancia mínima de 1 m (3 ,3
pies) de edificios, obstrucciones y otros objetos
inflamables.
- NO coloque objetos inflamables cerca del
motor.
- NO exponga materiales inflamables cerca del
escape del motor.
• Para evitar choques eléctricos, NO toque las
bujías, los tapones o el cable de la bujía duran-
te la operación.
• Para evitar quemaduras, NO toque el motor
ni el escape. El motor se sobrecalienta durante
su funcionamiento.
REGLAS DE SEGURIDAD ESPECÍFICAS PARA EL
USO DE LA DESBROZADORA
• Cambie el cabezal del hilo si está agrietado,
despostillado o dañado de cualquier forma.
Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo o cuchi-
lla, según sea el caso, esté debidamente insta-
lado y firmemente asegurado. El ignorar estas
advertencias pueden causar lesiones corporales
serias.
• Asegúrese de que todas las protecciones, co-
rreas, manerales y guardas estén instalados de-
bidamente y de manera segura.
• En el cabezal de corte use únicamente hilo de
repuesto recomendado por el distribuidor. No
utilice accesorios de corte que no hayan sido
recomendados por el distribuidor o fabricante.
NOTA: La instalación de hilo de corte inadecua-
do puede producir lesiones corporales serias.
• Nunca utilice la unidad si la guarda deecto-
ra no está montada y en buenas condiciones de
funcionamiento.
• Al usar la desbrozadora , sujétela rmemen-
te por el maneral. Mantenga el cabezal del
hilo por debajo del nivel de la cintura. Nunca
corte con el cabezal del hilo a más de 76 cm
(30 pulg.) del suelo o por encima de la rodilla.

INSTALACIÓN DEL MANGO TIPO “D“
1. Para instalar el man-
go en la desbrozado-
ra, se necesitaran los
siguientes componen-
tes: mango (A y B), tor-
nillos y tuercas (Fig. 1).
2. Instale ambas partes del mango en la barra a
una distancia de 16 a 20 cm dsde el acelerador
y apriételo con los tornillos y las tuercas propor-
cionadas.
INSTALACIÓN DE LA GUARDA
ADVERTENCIA: La guarda debe estar ins-
talada (Fig. 2) para dispensar correctamente la
línea de corte y proteger operador.
La guarda cabe rmemente en el eje. Puede ser
necesario algún esfuerzo.
1. Monte el deector de pasto (B) en el soporte
del eje (C).
2. Inserte el perno (E) a través del agujero. La
cabeza del tornillo hexagonal debe encajar a
través del deflector de pasto y del eje.
3. Inserte la arandela (D) y la tuerca, apriete fir-
memente.
INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
ABASTECIMIENTO Y REABASTECIMIENTO DE
COMBUSTIBLE
IMPORTANTE: La gasolina es altamente
inflamable y puede ser explosiva bajo ciertas
circunstancias. Cuando vaya a reabastecer de
combustible, detenga el motor y permita que
se enfríe. NO fume cerca del área de reabas-
tecimiento.
Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada y
no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que no
haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún tipo
de aparato.
ATENCIÓN: Si utiliza sólo gasolina hará que el
motor se agarrote. Use la mezcla apropiada de
aceite y gasolina.
Los motores de 2 tiempos requieren una mez-
cla de aceite y gasolina. La proporción de acei-
te de motor y gasolina es de 40:1 (40 partes de
gasolina por 1 parte de aceite para motores de
2 tiempos).

porciones indicadas
anteriormente, agi-
telo bien para evitar
que los componentes estén separados. Vierta
la mezcla en el depósito de combustible.
IMPORTANTE: Mezcle únicamente la can-
tidad de combustible necesaria para trabajar.
Cada que vaya a reabastecer de combustible
realice una mezcla nueva.
El dejar una mezcla de combustible almacena-
da por largos periodos de tiempo, provoca que
el aceite se asiente. El usar este tipo de com-
bustible puede dañar la máquina.
Tipo de combustible y octanaje
Use gasolina limpia, nueva sin plomo con un
contenido de etanol de no más del 10% y un
octanaje igual o superior al indicado en la ta-
bla de abajo.

ATENCIÓN: No use ningún combustible que
contenga etanol u otros oxigenantes en canti-
dad mayor a los especificados para el combus-
tible* E10 en este motor. En caso de que utilice
un combustible inadecuado, puede provocar
que el motor y el sistema de combustible se de-
teriore, o cause problemas en el arranque del
motor y/o problemas del rendimiento.
ENCENDIDO DEL MOTOR
COMBUSTIBLE
Coloque el motor sobre una superficie nivela-
da antes de añadir el combustible.
• Abra la tapa del depósito del combustible y
llene el depósito con una pre-mezcla de 40 par-
tes de gasolina por 1 de aceite.
• Vierta la mezcla lentamente para evitar que
se derrame, y así permitir que el aire salga del
depósito de combustible.
• Cierre la tapa rmemente en dirección de las
agujas del reloj.
IMPORTANTE: NO sobrellene el depósito de
combustible de manera que esté por encima
del indicador de nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el
depósito, el calor puede producir que el com-
bustible se expanda. Limpie inmediatamente la
gasolina derramada.
PUESTA EN MARCHA
NOTA: Para no sobrecargar el motor durante el
arranque y el calentamiento, ajuste el nylon de
corte a 13 cm.
ARRANQUE EN FRÍO
1. Coloque la desbrozadora en una superficie
plana y firme.
2. Mueva el interruptor a la posición ‘RUN’ de
encendido.
3. Gire la válvula de lubricación en dirección de
las manecillas del reloj.
NOTA: Cuando el motor acelere, la válvula vol-
verá automáticamente a su posición normal.
IMPORTANTE: Esta válvula se debe utilizar
solamente para el arranque en frío, no lo utili-
ce para arrancar el motor caliente.
4. Esta desbrozadora
ha sido diseñada con 3
posiciones del ahoga-
dor: CERRADO ‘ ’,
MEDIO ‘ ’ y ABIER-
TO ’ ’. Mueva la pa-
lanca del ahogador a la
posición “CERRADO“.
5. Presione el gatillo de seguridad y el gatillo
del acelerador accionando la velocidad máxi-
ma.
6. Tire del arrancador retráctil (aproximada-
mente 10 cm) hasta que sienta un poco de
resistencia. Necesitará tirar del arrancador rá-
pidamente para provocar la chispa de encendi-
do. Tire del arrancador hasta 4 veces.
7. Una vez que el motor haya sido encendido,
permita que funcione en velocidad en vacío
por al menos 1 minuto.
8. Mueva el ahogador a la posición ABIERTA.
NOTA: Si el motor no arranca después de varios
intentos, consulte la sección “Solucionador de
problemas”.
NOTA: Siempre tire de la cuerda de arranque
en línea recta. Si tira de la cuerda de arran-
que en ángulo, la cuerda se rozará con el ojal.
Esta fricción hará que la cuerda se desgaste
más rápido. Siempre sostenga la empuñadura
del arrancador con firmeza cuando la cuerda
se retraiga. Nunca deje que la cuerda regrese
bruscamente desde la posición extendida, este
movimiento puede causar lesiones o deterioros
en el mecanismo del arrancador retráctil.
ARRANQUE DEL MOTOR EN CALIENTE
1. Coloque la desbrozadora en una superficie
plana y firme.
2. Mueva el interruptor a la posición de encen-
dido.
3. Sujete firmemente el mango, apriete el gati-
llo de aceleración por completo para que fun-
cione a la MÁXIMA VELOCIDAD .
4. Tire de la cuerda de arranque rápidamente
hasta que arranque el motor, pero no más de
6 veces .
5. Si el motor no arranca, vuelva a la sección de
ARRANQUE EN FRÍO antes mencionada.

PARA DETENER EL MOTOR
Suelte el gatillo del acelerador. Deje que el
motor regrese a la velocidad en vacío. Presione
y no suelte el interruptor de ALTO (STOP) hasta
que el motor se detenga.
MANEJO DE LA DESBROZADORA
ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD
1. Enganche el broche del arnés en el asa para
la misma.
2. Ajuste el arnés para dejarlo en una posición
cómoda de trabajo.
ADVERTENCIA: Siempre coloque la unidad
a su lado derecho. Si se utiliza la unidad co-
locándola en el lado izquierdo del cuerpo, el
usuario se expondrá a las superficies calientes y
la salida del escape, lo cual puede causar lesio-
nes por quemaduras.
Sujete la desbrozadora con la mano derecha en
donde se encuentra el interruptor y coloque la
mano izquierda en el mango delantero tipo
“D“. Sujete firmemente la unidad con ambas
manos durante la operación.

dera. Siempre utilice
la desbrozadora a la
máxima aceleración.
Corte la hierba alta
desde la parte supe-
rior hacia abajo.
Esto evitará que la hierba se enrolle alrededor
de la base del eje y del cabezal del hilo, ya que
pudiera causar daño por calentamiento excesi-
vo. Si la hierba se enrolla alrededor del cabezal
del hilo, APAGUE EL MOTOR, desconecte el ca-
ble de la bujía y desprenda la hierba.
El recorte prolongado con el acelerador par-
cialmente abierto produce goteo de aceite por
el silenciador.
PARA AVANZAR EL HILO DE CORTE
El avance del hilo se con-
trola golpeando levemente
el cabezal del hilo contra
el pasto mientras el motor
funciona a la máxima ace-
leración.
1. Haga funcionar el motor a la máxima ace-
leración.
2. Golpee el retén del carrete sobre el suelo
para hacer avanzar el hilo. El hilo avanzará
cada vez que golpea sobre el suelo el retén del
carrete. No mantenga presionado el retén del
carrete sobre el suelo.
NOTA: La cuchilla montada en la guarda, corta
el hilo a la longitud correcta.
NOTA: Si el hilo se gasta hasta quedar muy cor-
to quizá no pueda avanzar el hilo tras golpear
el cabezal contra el suelo. Si así fuera, apague
el motor y avance manualmente el hilo.
RECOMENDACIONES DURANTE EL USO DE LA
DESBROZADORA
• Mantenga la desbrozadora inclinada hacia el
área de corte; la sección más cercana al suelo es
la mejor área de corte.
• La desbrozadora de eje curvo corta cuando se
pasa la unidad de derecha a izquierda. De esta
manera se evita el lanzamiento de desechos
hacia el operador. Evite cortar en el área peli-
grosa la cual es la que se encuentra mas cerca
de la guarda protectora.
• Use la punta del hilo para efectuar el recorte;
no fuerce el cabezal del hilo hacia la hierba sin
cortar.
• Las cercas de alambre, de estacas y metálicas
pueden causar desgaste adicional en el hilo,
incluso su ruptura. Los muros de piedra y de la-
drillo, los cordones y la madera pueden gastar
rápidamente el hilo.
• Evite tocar árboles y arbustos. La corteza de
los árboles, las molduras de madera, los reves-
timientos de las paredes y los postes de las cercas
pueden resultar dañados fácilmente por el hilo.
CUCHILLA DE CORTE DEL HILO DE LA GUARDA
Esta desbrozadora está equipada con una cu-
chilla de corte del hilo instalada en la guarda
protectora.
Para mejores resul-
tados en el recorte,
avance el hilo hasta
que la cuchilla lo corte
a la longitud apropia-
da.
Avance el hilo siempre que escuche que el mo-
tor está funcionando más rápido de lo normal,
o cuando disminuya la eficiencia del corte. Esto

mantendrá un mejor desempeño y mantendrá
el hilo a la suficiente longitud para avanzar
apropiadamente.
MANTENIMIENTO
IMPORTANTE: ANTES DE USAR LA MÁQUI-
NA, REALIZAR MANTENIMIENTO O CAMBIO
DE ACCESORIO, LEA LA “TABLA DE MANTENI-
MIENTO PERIÓDICO” EN LA PÁGINA 16.
ADVERTENCIA: Use únicamente piezas de
repuesto, accesorios y aditamentos genuinos
del fabricante o distribuidor. El hacer caso omi-
so de esta advertencia puede causar posibles
lesiones, un desempeño deficiente de la uni-
dad o la anulación de la garantía.
REEMPLAZO DEL CARRETE
1. Gire la perilla del
retén en sentido con-
trario a las manecillas
del reloj y retírela.
2. Retire el carrete vacío del cabezal del hilo.
Mantenga el resorte acoplado al carrete.
3. Quite el sobrante de nylon del soporte.
4. Enganche uno de
los extremos del nylon
en el cabezal y enro-
llelo, asegúrese de
que se capturen los
dos hilos en las ranu-
ras opuestas entre sí
en el nuevo carrete.
Asegúrese de que los extremos de cada hilo
sobresalgan aproximadamente 15 cm de cada
orificio.
5. Pase los hilos por los ojillos en el cabezal del
hilo. Empuje cuidadosamente el carrete en el
cabezal del hilo (tire levemente de los hilos ha-
cia afuera si es necesario). Al colocar el carrete
en el cabezal del hilo, sujete los hilos y tire de
ellos con fuerza para desengancharlos de las
ranuras en el carrete.
6. Presione y gire a la izquierda el carrete hasta
que tope. Sujete el carrete y gírelo levemente a
la derecha. Suelte el carrete. El carrete debe es-
tar asegurado en el cabezal del hilo. De lo con-
trario, sujételo y gírelo hasta que enganche.
7. Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el
retén del carrete estén instalados en el eje de
impulsión.
8. Vuelva a tirar de los hilos para girar el carre-
te a la posición de corte. Presione el retén del
carrete a la vez que tira del hilo o hilos, para
avanzar manualmente el hilo y para verificar el
ensamblaje correcto del cabezal del hilo.
9. Asegúrese de recortar los extremos de los
hilos para dejarlo a 13 cm antes del encendido.
LIMPIEZA DEL ORIFICIO DE ESCAPE Y DEL SI-
LENCIADOR
Dependiendo del tipo de combustible, el tipo y
la cantidad de aceite utilizado, o las condicio-
nes de funcionamiento particulares, el orificio
de escape y el silenciador pueden resultar obs-
truidos con depósitos de carbón. Contacte a un
centro de servicio autorizado para que le ayu-
de a realizar el mantenimiento y que su unidad
funcione a la potencia inicial.
BUJÍA
Es necesario limpiar o reemplazar la bujía cada
25 horas o anualmente para asegurarse del
buen funcionamiento de la unidad.
Instrucciones para la limpieza: Desconecte la
bujía y retírela de la unidad.
1. Rocíe la bujía con un limpiador de alta cali-
dad para eliminar depósitos de carbón.
2. Límpielo suavemente con un cepillo de cer-
das de alambre.
3. Instale la bujía, nuevo o recién limpiado, y
vuelva a armarlo antes de la operación.
NOTA: Antes de instalarlo, compruebe que la
abertura del electrodo esté entre 0,6 y 0,7 mm.
Apriete la bujía de 12 a 15 N.m (105-130 pul-
gada libras).
REEMPLAZO Y LIMPIEZA DEL FILTRO DE AIRE
Para obtener un desempeño apropiado y una
larga vida útil de la unidad, mantenga limpio
el filtro de aire.
1. Retire la tapa del filtro
de aire con el dedo pulgar,
empuje el pestillo hacia
abajo y tire con cuidado
de la tapa.
2. Retire el filtro y límpielo
con agua jabonosa tibia.
Enjuáguelo y déjelo secar
completamente.
Para obtener un desempeño óptimo de la uni-
dad, reemplácelo anualmente.
3. Vuelva a instalar el filtro.

4. Para volver a colocar la tapa del filtro de
aire.
ALMACENAMIENTO
ALMACENAMIENTO (MENOS DE 1 MES)
1. Limpie todo material extraño de la desbro-
zadora. Guárdelo en un lugar bien ventilado
fuera del alcance de los niños. Mantengalo ale-
jado de agentes corrosivos tales como produc-
tos químicos de jardinería y sales de deshiele.
2. Cumplir con todas las normas locales para el
almacenamiento y manejo seguro de la gasoli-
na. El combustible de sobra debe ser utilizado
en otros equipos con motores de 2 tiempos.
ALMACENAMIENTO (1 MES O MÁS)
1. Drene todo el combustible del tanque en
un recipiente para gasolina. Haga funcionar el

Está ahogado el motor. Retire la bujía, gire la
desbrozadora de manera que el orificio de la
bujía apunte hacia el piso. Coloque la palanca
del ahogador en la posición de funcionamien-
to y tire de la cuerda de arranque de 10 a 15
veces. De esta manera se elimina el exceso de
combustible del motor. Limpie la bujía y vuelva

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING: Do not attempt to operate this
trimmer until you thoroughly read and com-
pletely understand all instructions, safety rules,
etc. contained in this manual. Failure to comply
can result in accidents involving fire, electric
shock, or serious personal injury.
Save operator’s manual and review frequently
for continuing safe operation, and instructing
others who may use this tool.
READ ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• For safe operation, read and understand all
instructions before using the trimmer. Follow
all safety instructions. Failure to follow all safe-
ty instructions listed below, can result in seri-
ous personal injury.
• Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a
colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Inhaling car-
bon monoxide can cause serious brain injury or
death.
• Clear the work area before each use. Remove
all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails,
wire, or string which can be thrown or become
entangled in the string head.
• Wear full eye and hearing protection while
operating this unit.
• Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves.
Do not wear loose tting clothing, short pants,
jewelry of any kind, or go barefoot.
• Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at
least 15 m (50 ft.) away.
• Do not operate this unit when you are tired,
ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or
medication.
• Do not operate in poor lighting.
• Keep rm footing and balance. Do not over-
reach. Overreaching can result in loss of bal-
ance or exposure to hot surfaces.
• Keep all parts of your body away from any
moving part.
• Do not touch areas around the mufer or cyl-
inder of the trimmer, these parts get hot from
operation.
• Always stop the engine and remove the spark
plug wire before making any adjustments or
repairs except for carburetor adjustments.
• Inspect the unit before each use for loose
fasteners, fuel leaks, etc. Replace any damaged
parts before use.
• The string head will rotate during carburetor
adjustments.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION: It has been re-
ported that vibrations from hand-held tools
may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s
Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms
may include tingling, numbness and blanch-
ing of the fingers, usually apparent upon ex-
posure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to
cold and dampness, diet, smoking and work
practices are all thought to contribute to the
development of these symptoms. It is presently
unknown what, if any, vibrations or extent
of exposure may contribute to the condition.
There are measures that can be taken by the
operator to possibly reduce the effects of vi-
bration:
a) Keep your body warm in cold weather.
When operating the unit wear gloves to keep
the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that
cold weather is a major factor contributing to
Raynaud’s Syndrome.
b) After each period of operation, exercise to
increase blood circulation.
c) Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount
of exposure per day.
d) Keep the tool well maintained, fasteners
tightened and worn parts replaced.
If you experience any of the symptoms of this
condition, immediately discontinue use and
see your physician about these symptoms.
CAUTIONS FOR FUEL AND REFUEL HANDLING
• Gasoline is extremely ammable and can be
explosive under certain conditions, creating
the potential for serious burns. When refuel-
ing, servicing fuel system, draining gasoline
and/or adjusting the carburetor:
Stop engine and allow it to cool before refuel-
ing. DO NOT smoke.
• Make sure the area is well-ventilated and
free from any source of flame or sparks, includ-
ing the pilot light of any appliance.
• DO NOT ll the tank so the fuel level rises
into the filler neck or level surface of level
gauge. If the tank is overfilled, heat may cause
the fuel to expand and overow through the
vents in the tank cap. Wipe off any spilled gas-
oline immediately.

• Engines can become extremely hot during
normal operation.
To prevent re hazard: Keep the engine at
least 1 m (3.3 ft) away from buildings, obstruc-
tions and other flammable objects.
DO NOT place flammable objects close to the
engine.
DO NOT expose combustible materials to the
engine exhaust.
To avoid getting an electric shock, DO NOT
touch spark plugs, plug caps or spark plug
leads during engine running.
To avoid a serious burn, DO NOT touch a hot
engine or muffler. The engine becomes hot
during operation. Before you service or remove
parts, stop engine and allow the engine to
cool.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR GAS TRIMMERS
• DO NOT place hands or feet near moving or
rotating parts. Place a protective cover over
pulley, V belt or coupling.
• DO NOT run engine at excessive speeds. This
may result in injury.
• Replace string head if cracked, chipped, or
damaged in any way. Be sure the string head is
properly installed and securely fastened. Fail-
ure to do so can cause serious injury.
• Make sure all guards, straps, deectors and
handles are properly and securely attached.
• Use only the manufacturer’s replacement
string in the cutting head. Do not use any oth-
er cutting attachment.
• Never operate unit without the grass deec-
tor in place and in good condition.
• Maintain a rm grip on both handles while
trimming. Keep string head below waist level.
Never cut with the string head located over 76
cm (30 in.) or more above the ground.
• The cutting attachment should stop turning
when the engine idles because it is equipped
with a clutch. If the cutting attachment con-
tinues to turn when the engine idles, contact a
service dealer for repair.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
FUEL AND REFUELING
IMPORTANT: Gasoline is extremely flamma-
ble and can be explosive under certain condi-
tions, c reating the potential for serious burns.
Turn the ignition switch to “OFF”. Do not
smoke.
Make sure the area is well-ventilated and f ree
from any source of flame or sparks; this inc
ludes any appliance with a pilot light.
ATTENTION: Running on gasoline only will
cause the engine to seize. Use gasoline-oil mix-
ture.
2-stroke Engines requires a gasoline-oil mix-
ture. Gasoline and engine oil mixing ratio is
40:1 (Gasoline; 40, 2-stroke engine Oil; 1).
Pour the 2-stroke en-
gine oil and the gaso-
line into an appropri-
ate container with the
ratio shown above,
and shake it thor-
oughly to avoid the
separation of them.
And then, pour it into the fuel tank.
IMPORTANT: Mix only the amount needed
to work. Prepare a new mix every time you
need to refuel the fuel tank. Leaving the mix-
ture stored for long periods of time causes the
oil to seize, this can cause serious damage to
the components or the engine.
Fuel type and octane rating
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with etha-
nol volume content not more than 10% and
an octane rating equal to or higher than that
shown in the table.
ATTENTION: Do not use any fuel that contains
more ethanol or other oxygenates than speci-
fied for E10 fuel* in this engine. Damage to
the engine and fuel system, or engine starting
and/or performance problems may result from
the use of improper fuel.
* E10 means fuel containing up to 10% etha-
nol as specified by European directive.
STARTING THE ENGINE
FUELING
Level the engine before fueling.
• Open the fuel tank cap and ll the fuel tank
with 40:1 gas/oil pre-mixed fuel.
• Pour slowly to avoid “spill back” and allow
air to escape from the fuel tank.
• Close the tank cap securely by turning it
clockwise as far as it will go.
IMPORTANT: Never fill the tank so the fuel
level rises into the filler neck. If the tank is
overfilled, heat may cause the fuel to expand
and overow through the vents in the tank
cap. After refueling, make sure the fuel tank
cap is closed securely. If gasoline is spilled on
the fuel tank, wipe it off immediately.
STARTING
NOTE: To minimize load on engine during
starting and warmup, trim excess trimming
line to 13 cm.
STARTING A COLD ENGINE
1. Place trimmer on firm flat surface.
2. Move ignition switch to the “RUN (l)” posi-
tion.
3. Turn the enrichment valve clockwise.
NOTE: When the engine accelerates, valve will
automatically return to the normal position.

IMPORTANT: This enriched valve only when
the engine is cold at the start, hot-start is not
required for this operation.

5. Grip handle firmly;
depress safety trigger & throttle trigger to
FULL THROTTLE position.
6. Pull the recoil starter grip slowly to engage
the starter (at approximately 10 cm), then
give a short, quick pull. A smooth rapid pull is
required for a strong spark. Pull starter rope
briskly 4 times.
7. Once engine starts, allow to run idle for ten
seconds.
8. Move the choke to OPEN position.
NOTE: lf engine fails to start after repeated at-
tempts, refer to ‘troubleshooting’ section.
NOTE: Always pull starter rope straight out.
Pulling starter at an angle will cause rope to
rub against the eyelet. This friction will cause
the rope to fray and wear more quickly. Always
hold starter handle when rope retracts. Never
allow rope to snap back from extended posi-
tion. This could cause rope to snag or fray and
also damage the starter assembly.
WARM ENGINE START
1. Place trimmer on firm flat surface.
2. Move ignition switch to the “RUN (l)” position.
3. Grip handle firmly, squeeze throttle trigger
to FULL THROTTLE position.
4. Pull starter rope briskly until engine starts,
but no more than 6 times.
5. If engine does not start, please operate
“STARTING A COLD ENGINE” again.
TO STOP ENGINE
Release throttle trigger. Let engine return to
idle. Push and hold ignition stop switch until
engine stops.
OPERATING THE TRIMMER
SAFETY HARNESS
1. Attach the headgear clip on the handle of
the shaft.
2. Adjust the harness to place it in a comfort-
able position.
WARNING: Always place the motor head to
your right side. If you place the trimmer motor
on your left side, you will be exposed to the
motor heat and muffler outlet, this can cause
posible serious injury.
Hold the trimmer with the right hand on the
rear handle and the left hand on the front “D“
handle. Keep a rm grip with both hands while
in operation. Trimmer should be held at a com-
fortable position with the rear handle about
hip height.
Always operate trim-
mer at full throttle.
Cut tall grass from the
top down. This will
prevent grass from
wrapping around
the driveshaft hous-
ing and string head
which may cause dam-
age from overheat-
ing. If grass becomes
wrapped around the
string head, stop the engine, disconnect the
spark plug wire, and remove the grass. Pro-
longed cutting at partial throttle will result in
oil dripping from the muffler.
ADVANCING THE STRING
String advance is con-
trolled by tapping
string head on grass
while running engine
at full throttle.
1. Run engine at full
throttle.
2. Tap string head on ground to advance string.
String advances each time the head is tapped.
3. Several taps may be required until string
strikes the cut off blade.
4. Resume trimming.
NOTE: If the string is worn too short you may
not be able to advance the string by tapping
it on the ground. If so, STOP THE ENGINE, and
manually advance the string.
CUTTING TIPS
• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area be-
ing cut; the section closest to the ground is the
best cutting area.

• Do not cut in dangerous cutting area.
• Use the tip of string to do the cutting; do not
force string head into uncut grass.
• Wire and picket fences cause extra string
wear, even breakage. Stone and brick walls,
curbs, and wood may wear string rapidly.
• Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood
moldings, siding, and fence posts can easily be
damaged by the string.
GRASS DEFLECTOR LINE TRIMMING CUTOFF
BLADE
This trimmer is equipped with a line trimming
cut-off blade on the grass deflector.
For best cutting, ad-
vance string until it is
trimmed to length by
the cut-off blade. Ad-
vance string whenever
you hear the engine
running faster than
normal.
This will maintain best performance and keep
string long enough to advance properly.
MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT: BEFORE USING THE TRIM-
MER, CARRY OUT REGULAR MAINTENANCE
OR CHANGING ACCESSORIES, READ THE “PE-
RIODIC MAINTENANCE CHART” ON PAGE 16.
WARNING: Use only original manufac-
turer’s replacement parts, accessories and at-
tachments. Failure to do so can cause possible
injury, poor performance and may void your
warranty.
• You may make adjustments and repairs de-
scribed here. For other repairs, have the trim-
mer serviced by an authorized service dealer.
• Consequences of improper maintenance may
include excess carbon deposits resulting in loss
of performance and discharge of black oily
residue dripping from the muffler.
• Make sure all guards, straps, deectors and
handles are properly and securely attached to
avoid the risk of personal injury.
REPLACING THE NYLON THREAD
1. Hold the string
head and unscrew the
spool retainer. Turn
counterclockwise.

2. Remove the empty spool from the string
head. Keep the spring attached to the spool.
3. Remove the last of nylon threads.
4. Cut and hook the nylon inside the spool,
make sure the two strings are captured in the
slots opposite each other on the spool. Make
sure the ends of each string is extended ap-
proximately 152 mm (6 in.) beyond each slot.
5. Thread the strings
into the eyelets in the
string head. Carefully
push the spool into
the string head (gen-
tly pull the strings to
the outside if neces-
sary).
When the spool is positioned in the string
head, grasp the strings and pull sharply to re-
lease them from the slots in the spool.
6. Push down and turn the spool counterclock-
wise until it no longer turns. Hold the spool
down and rotate clockwise a small amount.
Release the spool. The spool should be locked
down in the string head. If not, hold down and
rotate until locked.
7. Make sure the string head and the spool re-
tainer are installed on the drive shaft by turn-
ing the retainer clockwise to tighten.
8. Pull the strings again to rotate the spool into
cutting position. Push the spool retainer down
while pulling on string(s) to manually advance
the string and to check for proper assembly of
the string head.
CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND MUFFLER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type
and amount of oil used, and/or your operat-
ing conditions, the exhaust port and muffler
may become blocked with carbon deposits. If
you notice a power loss with your gas powered
tool, a qualied service technician will need to
remove these deposits to restore performance.
SPARK PLUG
The spark plug must be cleaned or replaced
every 25 hours or yearly to ensure proper per-
formance of your product.
Cleaning Instructions:
• Disconnect the spark plug from the unit.
1. Spray the spark plug with a quality carbon
cleaner.

2. Gently clean using a wire brush.
3. Install the new or cleaned spark plug and re-
assemble completely before use.
NOTE: Before installing, verify that spark plug
gap is at least 025” (0,635mm). You must tight-
en to 105 to 130 inch pounds (12 to 15 N.m)
torque.
REPLACING AND CLEANING AIR FILTER
For proper performance and long life, keep air
filter clean.
1. Remove the air filter
cover by pushing down on
the latch with your thumb
while gently pulling on
the cover.
2. Remove the filter, clean
it in warm soapy water.
Rinse and let dry com-
pletely. For best perfor-
mance, replace annually.
3. Install the filter, align tabs, push in, and
make sure the latches are locked into place.
STORAGE
STORAGE (LESS THAN 1 MONTH)
1. Clean all foreign material from the trimmer.
Store it in a well-ventilated area that is inaccessi-
ble to children. Keep away from corrosive agents
such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
2. Abide by all ISO and local regulations for the
safe storage and handling of gasoline. Excess
fuel should be used up in other 2-cycle engine
powered equipment.
STORAGE (1 MONTH OR LONGER)
1. Drain all fuel from tank into a container ap-
proved for gasoline. Run engine until it stops.
2. Clean all foreign material from the trimmer.
Store it in a well-ventilated place that is inaccessi-
ble to children. Keep away from corrosive agents

TROUBLESHOOTING
ENGINE WILL NOT START
No spark. Check spark. Remove spark plug. Re-
attach the spark plug cap and lay spark plug on

metal cylinder. Pull the starter rope and watch
for spark at spark plug tip. If there is no spark,
repeat test with a new spark plug.
No fuel. Push primer bulb until bulb is full of
fuel. If bulb does not fill, primary fuel delivery
system is blocked. Contact a service dealer. If
primer bulb fills, engine may be flooded (see
next item).
Flooded engine. Remove spark plug, turn trim-
mer so spark plug hole is aimed at the ground.
Move choke lever to “RUN” and pull starter
cord 10 to 15 times. This will clear excess fuel
from engine. Clean and reinstall spark plug.
Pull starter three times with choke lever at
“RUN”. If engine does not start, move choke
lever to “CHOKE” and repeat normal starting
procedure. If engine still fails to start, repeat
procedure with a new spark plug.
ENGINE DOES NOT REACH FULL SPEED AND
EMITS EXCESSIVE SMOKE
Check oil fuel mixture. Use fresh fuel and the
correct 2-cycle oil mix.
Air filter dirty. Clean the air filter. Refer to “Re-
placing and Cleaning the Air Filter” earlier in
this manual.

el producto junto con la poliza de garantia debi-
damente firmada y sellada por el establecimiento
donde la adquirio, en cualquiera de los centros de
servicio autorizados.
Los gastos de transportación que se deriven del
cumplimiento de la garantía seran cubiertos por:

Esta garantía no será valida en los siguientes
casos:
· Cuando el producto haya sido utilizado en condi-
ciones distintas a las normales o al desgaste natu-
ral de sus partes.
· Cuando el producto no haya sido operado de
acuerdo al instructivo de uso que lo acompaña.
· Cuando el producto haya sido alterado o repara-
do por personas no autorizadas.
