Getting Started
Turning ON
Press the middle button to turn the SweetPea3 On. It takes a
few seconds for the music to queue up before it plays.
Turning OFF
The SweetPea3 will shut itself off after one minute when no
music is playing (when the display reads “Stopped”). The
player may also shut itself off while playing music, depend-
ing on the Auto-Off settings (see Auto-Off section below).
Song Selection
The display shows the number of the current song. Press the
Left or Right buttons to play the previous or the next song
respectively.
When the player reaches the end of the music list, it will
continue playing from the beginning.
Settings Menu
The settings menu has been hidden from your child to
give you control of functions such as volume and auto-off
times.
Entering the Settings Menu
Press and hold the Left and Right buttons simultaneously for
over 6 seconds. When the display reads “Volume”, release
the buttons

USER MANUAL 5
Scrolling through the Settings menu
Pressing the middle button will scroll through the Settings
menu. The order of items in the menu is:
Menu >Volume
Menu >Playlist
Menu >Pause
Menu >Auto Off
Menu >Exit
Each item in the menu is described as follows:
Volume
The current volume setting is displayed as a number be-
tween 1 and 5. A value of 5 is the loudest and 1 is the softest.
Press the left and right buttons to adjust the volume.
Press the middle button to scroll to the next menu item.
Playlist
The current playlist is displayed as a number between 1 and
3. Press the left and right buttons to change the playlist.
Press the middle button to scroll to the next menu item.
A playlist is simply a group of songs. You can create up to
three playlists on the SweetPea3.
Group songs however you like. For instance, you might put
high-energy songs in Playlist 1 and sleepy lullaby songs in
Playlist 2.
Note: empty playlists are not displayed and cannot be se-
lected. If all the songs are in one playlist only, then only
that playlist number is displayed and Left and Right button
presses do nothing.
Pause
Pause ON allows the middle button to pause/resume the
song. Pause OFF allows the middle button to start and stop
the song from the beginning. Press the left and right but-
tons to turn this feature ON or OFF.
Press the middle button to scroll to the next menu item.
Very young children may find the SweetPea3 more intuitive
with the pause feature off.
Auto Off
The current Auto Off setting is displayed (minutes). When
this feature is off, the SweetPea3 will play indefinitely.
Press the left and right buttons to adjust the Auto Off time.
Press the middle button to scroll to the next menu item.
The Auto Off feature turns the player off automatically after
playing for a set time. This can be handy in a nursery, or if
you want to conserve battery power.
Exit
Press the Left or Right buttons to exit from the Settings
menu and return to the normal mode for playing music. The
other way to exit from the Settings menu is to simply not
press any button for 10 seconds.
Press the middle button to scroll back to the top of the
Settings menu.

USER MANUAL 6
Transferring Music
The SweetPea3 appears to your computer system as a USB
hard drive. This means that you can transfer music files to
and from the SweetPea3 using Windows Explorer or any
music management software you may already have installed
on your computer.
Using Windows Explorer
Plug your SweetPea3 into the USB port of your computer
using the supplied USB cable. A screen asking what you
want Windows to do will appear. Select the Windows Ex-
plorer option and select OK. The following screen will ap-
pear. Note that only songs currently on your player will be
shown, which are not necessarily the ones which appear in
this example.
The PLAY2 and PLAY3 folders contain songs in Playlist 2 and
Playlist 3 respectively. Songs that are not in PLAY2 or PLAY3
(i.e. on the root directory of this USB drive) are in Playlist 1.
To view songs in the other playlists, double click on the fold-
ers. You can listen to any song by double clicking on it and
the default music player on your computer will open and
play the song.
To load songs from your computer onto the SweetPea3,
simply click and drag them from your computer as you
would with any other file, and drop them onto the root
directory of the USB drive (for Playlist 1) or into the folders
PLAY2 or PLAY3. You can also rearrange songs by clicking
and dragging them between folders.
Songs play in alphabetical order. To change the order, use
the rename feature in Windows Explorer to change the two
digit number in front of the song name.
Licensed music
Use Windows Media Player to transfer licensed music to your
SweetPea3. Note that the SweetPea3 does not play music
from subscription services and it does not play licensed
music purchased from iTunesTM.
Getting Songs onto your computer
Use the media player on your computer, such as Windows
Media Player, to copy songs from your CD collection to
your computer. Using Windows Media Player, simply click
on “Rip”, insert a CD and then click on the “Rip Music”
button. Refer to your media player’s online help for more
information.
You can also purchase music from many online sources, in-
cluding www.sweetpeatoyco.com. The SweetPea3 plays
WMA and MP3 files.
AC Adapter
An AC adapter can be used to avoid draining the battery
(such as in a nursery). The AC adapter does not recharge
the battery. An adapter can be purchased at www.sweet-
peatoyco.com.
