Introduction
First of all, many thanks for purchasing this Sweex Pretty Pink MP3-player. With this compact MP3 player you can enjoy your favourite music in MP3
and WMA formats, wherever you are.
To ensure this product operates correctly, we advise you to carefully read this manual first. If despite this manual you still experience problems during
installation or operation of this product, go to www.sweex.com and look under the heading service & support.
In order to fully enjoy the MP3 player for many years, it is important you adhere to the following:
• Do not leave the MP3 player in direct sunlight or in the direct vicinity of radiators. Avoid ambient temperatures exceeding 39°C.
• Remember that the temperature in a locked car exposed to the sun can easily reach 50°C or more.
• Do not use the MP3 player in extremely dusty or moist surroundings.
• Protect the device against powerful shocks or jolts - they may damage the internal electronics.
• Never attempt to open the device yourself - it will cause the warranty to lapse.

Prior to using the MP3 player, check if all required parts are present. The following parts must be present in the box:

• Earphones
• USB cable
• Battery
• CD-ROM with manual and drivers

Fitting the battery
The Sweex MP3 player uses a 1.5 volt AAA battery. Follow these instructions to fit the battery: remove the USB cover and slide the battery cover on
the back of the MP3 player downwards. Fit the battery and slide the battery cover back in its slot. Replace the USB cover.
Connecting the MP3 player to the computer
The Sweex MP3 player benefits from a USB 2.0 connection. This means that the MP3 player can be directly connected under Windows 2000 or
Windows XP. The Sweex MP3 player will be recognised as an additional disc drive. Within Windows, MP3 or WMA files can be easily copied to or
removed from the player. In order to use it under Windows 98SE, you must first install the driver provided. The installation of the Windows 98SE
driver is explained below. As soon as the MP3 player is connected and recognised by the computer, the text USB will appear in the display of the
MP3 player. This indicates that the MP3 player is ready for use. The computer will show an additional drive letter (see the illustration below).
The drive letter allocated to the Sweex MP3 player may deviate from the picture above.
Windows 98SE Driver installation
Important! Prior to connecting the MP3 player to the computer, install the software under Windows 98SE first.
Insert the CD-ROM supplied in the CD-ROM player. Select to install the Windows 98SE driver and follow the on-screen instructions.
In order to complete the installation, the computer must be restarted. Once the computer has been restarted, the Sweex MP3 player can be
connected and will be recognised as a separate drive under Windows 98SE.

Switching the MP3 player on and off
Press and hold the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) for 2 seconds in order to switch on the Sweex MP3 player. The text “Sweex” will
appear in the display. After 2 seconds the main menu appears detailing information on, among other things, the number of tracks, equalizer settings,
battery status and the playtime of the selected track.
To switch off the MP3 player, press and hold the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) for 2 seconds. The text “Continue holding to power off”
(Continue holding to power off) will appear in the display. Wait until the progress bar is full prior to releasing the button.
Playing music
As soon as the MP3 player is switched on, briefly press the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) in order to start playing. Other music files can
be played back by pushing the mode (mode) button to the left or right.
Briefly press the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) to pause whilst playing. Briefly press the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) once
more to resume playing.
The menu
Press the menu (menu) button in order to access it. By moving the menu (menu) button to the left or right you can scroll through the menu options.
Briefly press the menu (menu) button to choose the selected option. To leave the menu, again press and hold the button for 2 seconds. This can be
done from wherever you are in the menu.
The menu options are as follows: Music - Voice - Record - Set - Erase - About - Exit
Music = Playing back music files.
Voice = Playing back voice recordings which have been recorded by means of the Record function.
Record = Voice recording. Multiple recordings are possible.

Set = EQ - Playmode - PowerSet - Language - Backlight - Contrast - Exit
EQ = Equalizer settings:
Normal
Rock
Jazz
Classical
Pop
Playmode = Play back setting:
Normal: Files are played back in alphabetical order
Repeat track[ 1]: Continuously repeats a single music file
Repeat All[ ]: Plays back the entire music list and repeats the cycle
Shuffle [S]: Playback in random order
Shuffle Repeat[ S]: Playback in random order and repeats the cycle
PowerSave = Automatically switches off the MP3 player when no music is played in order to save battery power.
Disable: MP3 player continues to be switched on.
1min, 2min, 5min, 10min: MP3 switches off after a certain amount of time.
Background = Display illumination.
Off: Deactivated
Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Cyan, White.
Multicolor: Multiple colour option
Contrast = Display contrast level. The contrast can be adjusted by moving the menu (menu) button to the left and right.
Erase = Deleting files.
Music - All_Music - Voice - All_Voice - Exit
Press the Play/Pause button (Play/Pause button) to select Yes (Yes) or No (No). Press the mode (mode) button to choose the selected
option. The text “File deleted” (File deleted) will appear in the display.
Info = player info, storage capacity, remaining capacity.
Exit = Exit the menu.
Battery status indicator
The Sweex MP3 player uses a single 1.5 volt AAA battery. As soon as battery capacity becomes too low, the battery icon in the display will
start to blink.
Lockingbuttons
To prevent accidental activation of a button whilst playing, all buttons can be locked by means of the HOLD switch. Slide the switch to the
right to lock the buttons. The HOLD symbol appears in the top right corner of the display. Slide the switch to the left to unlock again.
A-B button
The A-B function can be used to select a fragment of a track and play it repeatedly. Follow this procedure to select a certain fragment. Whilst in
playback mode, press the A-B button to select the beginning of the fragment. Press the A-B button once more to select the end of the fragment.
Subsequently, the selected fragment will be played back repeatedly. Press the A-B button once more to cancel the repeated playing of the selected
fragment.

Recording and playback of voice
It is also possible to record speech with the Sweex MP3 player. The Sweex MP3 player features a built-in microphone to record sound. Follow this
procedure to start a sound recording:
Press the menu (menu) button in order to access it. Select the Record option. The device starts to record immediately. The display now shows the
file name (e.g.: /VOICE/V007.WAV). In the menu, select the option Voice in order to play the voice files.
Warranty
All products under the Sweex brand are warranted for a period of three years. We do not grant support or warranties for any software and/or
(rechargeable) batteries included. Warranty claims are only settled via the dealer where the product concerned was purchased.
The rightful owner has and retains title to all brand names and related rights mentioned in this manual.
