1.1 About PILOT X?
PILOT X is the new generation of the PILOT environmental control which has been on the market now
for more than 20 years. The devices can learn infrared signals of other remote controls and can
replace several of your existing remotes. Additionally, the PILOT X contains an Easywave radio
transmitter which can control 64 channels. There is also a WiFi interface included which is used to
configure the PILOT but also to control appliances. On top of that there is also an Bluetooth interface.
PILOT X allows you to use up to 120 voice commands. The commands can be used several times with
different functionality if they are used in different devices (menus). Each command can be configured
with a list of actions (IR, Easywave …) to create macros.
The configuration is done through a WiFi connection with the browser of any device like tablet,
smartphone or computer which is connected to the PILOT X WiFi Hotspot or in the WiFi network.
In normal use PILOT X can be controlled with voice commands which are confirmed by a playback.
Announcements like battery status are also done by playback.
1.2 Turn on/off your PILOT X
Turn on
Press the power button until LED 1 turns on red then release the button.
LED 1 and 2 start flashing alternately while PILOT X is starting. This may take up
to 40 sec.
When the flashing stops you can hear
-“PILOT ready“, if it is already configured and voice trained.
-“Please train voice“and LED 2 stays on red, if there is no voice training
stored.
There is also an announcement if the WiFi Hotspot is turned on (“Hotspot
active”) or the connection to an existing WiFi was established (“WiFi
connected”).
Turn off
Press the power button until LED 1 turns on red then release the button (3
sec.). LED 1 stays on red while PILOT X is shut down.

1.5 Power Supply
PILOT X contains a LiPO rechargeable battery which is charged automatically as soon as the charging
cable and power supply are connected.
The battery status can be played back with the status function through the keys or in the browser.
LED 1 is flashing green (100-50%), yellow (50-10%) or red (<10%). At about 5% there will be a
playback “weak battery” which is repeated every minute.
Charging time is approximately 6 hours when the battery is almost empty. Use time is about 12
hours.

2 Setup / Configuration
Configuration of a PILOT X can be done with any computer, tablet or smartphone which is connected
via WiFi with the PILOT X. The connection can be established either directly with the PILOT X Hotspot
or, if PILOT X is already connected in the same WiFi network, through this network.
On the first setup you must use the Hotpot connection which you can find in the next chapter. Other
options can be found at 4.4 WiFi Interface.
It is recommended to use the Hotspot to link the PILOT X to an existing WiFi and continue in this
connection.
2.1 PILOT X Hotspot
When PILOT X is turned on for the first time you can hear
“Hotspot active”. Now you are able to see a WiFi called “pilot”.
•Open the WiFi settings in your device
•Choose the WiFi called “pilot“
•Type in the network key “Key4Pilo“ (case sensitive).
•Open your Browser
•Go to the address line and type in the IP address 192.168.4.1, now press Enter.

-In Windows 10 you may be asked for a network pin. Click on the link “Connect with
network key“ before you continue.
-There might be message that there is no internet connection available. Please confirm
that you want to keep the WiFi connectionwith “pilot”.

2.2 Create Menus
The next step is to create the menus and commands and configure them with functions. For doing
that please choose the page “Menus“:
→
Now you can see the empty page “Menus”.
Here you can create the main menu
commands. These usually these are the
device names of the appliances.
With the click on “Menus“ you can always
change back to this page.
The link “Training“will leave the edit menu
area and leads you directly to the voice

2.4 Sequence of IR Commands –IRSeq
The sequence of IR commands is used to
dynamically collect the IR signals from
different commands without sending them
immediately. The sequence of IR signals is
then sent by another command.
Additionally, there are commands to cancel
the last command and to cancel the whole
function. A typical application for this is
collecting digits for a telephone number or
tv channel, where you need to have a
changing sequence of signals.
The first selection defines the kind of action
which also changes the options below:
„IR“: This creates a command to which an IR
signal is linked to. Under „Keyword“ you
enter the command name, for example a
digit. The linked IR signal can be chosen
from or stored in the list „IR-Remote-
Function“. Use the button „IR-Rec“ and
„Test“ to copy and test the signal (see 2.3.2
Creating IR Signals). „Description“ defines
the name of the IR signal.
With a click on you can listen to the
text-to-speech result.
„Send“ defines the command which is used
to send the collected signals.
Under „Keyword“ you enter the command
name, for example “dial”.
If you want PILOT X to change into sleep
mode automatically with this command you
can check the option “go sleeping after
command“.
With a click on you can listen to the
text-to-speech result.

User Manual PILOT X

„Cancel“ defines the command which is
used to cancel the whole function and to
clear all collected signals.
Under „Keyword“ you enter the command
name, for example “cancel”.
With a click on you can listen to the
text-to-speech result.
„Delete“defines the command which is
used to cancel the last collected command.
Under „Keyword“ you enter the command
name, for example “delete”.
With a click on you can listen to the
text-to-speech result.
All commands created in this way are
shown with a different icon and cannot be

2.5 Bluetooth –HFP
PILOT X can be paired and connected to a
mobile phone by Bluetooth to control some
functions for telephone calls. It can only
control the phone but audio is not going
through the PILOT X. You should connect a
headset (Android) or set it to always answer
in handsfree (iPhone).
This page is used to pair PILOT X with your
phone and also to configure the commands.
Pairing
Click on the button “Pairing”and PILOT X
will answer “Bluetooth is visible”.

2.6 Voice Training
You can choose to do the voice training for all commands or as single word training.
2.6.1 Training for all commands
For voice train all used commands change to the page “Training”:
→
During the voice training you will be asked to repeat all active menu commands and additionally the
commands for waking up PILOT X and setting it into sleep mode. Every time this training is started all
used commands will be asked to be trained once.
You can see the page “Training“.
changes the output volume
changes the input volume, typical
values: 45 … 60
changes the threshold when the
recording starts during voice training.
The control moves automatically with
the change of the input volume.
When you click on the icon the
control can also be set manually.
Increase it if there is some back-
ground noise while voice training.
„Start Training“ starts the voice training.
When it has been started the button label changes to “Pause Training“, where you can pause the
voice training. Then the button label changes to „Resume Training“, where you can continue. „Stop
Training“ stops the voice training.
Important: PLOT X is only ready to use when all commands have been trained!
Every time you can see „Training pending“ in orange above the “Navigation” button and LED 2 on
