Description
The SY038 is a versatile amplifier accepting signals from a range of wheatstone bri ge
type sensors.eg; loa cells, pressure sensors, torque trans ucers an some
accelerometers. It is enclose in a compact DIN rail mounting case.
The amplifier has switch selectable full scale input sensitivities, from 0.25 to 4.4mV/V. This
covers the vast majority of available loa cells. It has the ability to rive up to 4 x 350 ohm
loa cells, or 2 x 120 ohm loa cells.
The SY038 can be or ere to run off a range of power supplies. Options are 17 – 30VDC,
110 – 240VAC or an automotive option of 10-16VDC

Features
i. The loa cell amplifier has switches use to select mV/V from 0.25 to 4.4mV/V in 16
steps (Double sensitivity HS version also available ,see figure 2)
ii. Amplifier has very high stability an accuracy on voltage an current out
iii. Unit is protecte against reverse polarity connection as well as having a very high
immunity to interference
iv. Unit is supplie as stan ar in a compact DIN rail mount case
Typical applications
The SY038 can be use with a maximum of 4 x 350Ω loa cells, an epen ing on the
application a 4-20mA output or +/-10V output signal will be obtaine . In or er to suit user
requirements the unit can be set up for any input as illustrate in fig. 2 using switches on
the reverse of the unit.
To get a bipolar output from a current version you can set the zero as 12mA so the max
negative value from the loa cell will be 4mA an the max positive value will be 20mA. To
achieve this the scaling switches will nee to be change as the full scale range will be
ouble that of the unipolar setup. For example, if you ha it set for 0 – 2mV/V, the bipolar
version woul be +/- 2mV/V, ie 4mV/V.

** To access the switches, lever off the cover of the amplifier (with the CE marking) from
the bottom right corner using a flat hea screw river.
nstallation
Before installation check that the unit is secure an not amage an that the
environment specifications for the pro uct are as in icate in the manual.
For the installation take into consideration the following:
I. Ensure the component is stable on installation an easy access to the component
II. Avoi contact with water or flui s for the safety of the unit. SY038 can be operate
in any in ustrial environment provi e the following limits are not excee e .

Troubleshooting
Unit connecte to the loa cell but the output is going in the wrong irection.
Solution: Switch the connection of the signal wires.
Can't quite achieve require output.
Solution: Try the range on either si e by changing the switch settings. Alternatively
remove cover with connection etails & trim excitation voltage up or own to a just
max or min output using the trim pot in the bottom right corner.
