ONLY. Use in a non-Emerald ICE environment could result in an electrical short cir-
cuit when the telephone wiring is set up to provide other telephone service and a
Emerald ICE Cordless Telephone System is plugged into the wiring.
Use
WhenusinganEmeraldICECordlessTelephoneSystem,thefollowingsafetyprecautions
shouldalwaysbefollowedtoreducetheriskoffire,electricshockandinjurytoyourself
and/orothers.
•Readandunderstandallinstructions.
•Followallwarningsandinstructionsfortheterminal.
•Thisterminalcanbehazardousifimmersedinwater.Toavoidthepossibilityofelec‐
tricshock,donotuseitifyouarewet.Ifyouaccidentallydroptheterminalinto
water,donotretrieveituntilyouhavefirstunpluggedthelinecordfromthemodular
jack.Then,callservicepersonneltoaskaboutareplacement.
•Avoidusingtheterminalduringelectricalstormsinyourimmediatearea.Thereisa
riskofelectricshockfromlightning.Extremelyimportantcallsshouldonlybemade
andshouldbebrief.Eventhoughprotectivemeasuresmayhavebeeninstalledto
limitelectricalsurgescausedbylightningfromenteringyourbusiness,absolutepro‐

•Ifyoususpectanaturalgasleak,reportitimmediately,butuseaterminalawayfrom
theareainquestion.Theterminal’selectricalcontactscouldgenerateatinyspark.
Whileunlikely,itispossiblethatthissparkcouldigniteaheavyconcentrationofgas.

CordlessTelephoneSystemshavenouserserviceableparts.Openingorremovingcovers
mayexposeyoutohazardousvoltages.Incorrectreassemblymaycauseelectricshock
whentheterminalissubsequentlyused.
CleaningandService
Beforecleaning,removethebatteryfromthebackofthecordlesshandset.Donotuseliq‐
uidoraerosolcleaners.Useadampclothforcleaning.

TheEmeraldICECordlessTelephoneSetconnectstoandfunctionscompletelywiththeEmer‐
aldICEphonesystemtoprovidepowerfulandconvenientcordlessfunctionsforthebusi‐
nessuser.
ThesetincludesacordlessHandsetwitharechargeablebatteryandachargingunitanda
BaseUnitusedtoconnectwiththeEmeraldICESystem.
CAUTION: The Base Unit is a digital device and must be connected with digital ports on the
system or damage to the Base Unit could occur.
NOTE: The Base Unit does not require an AC power source. Power is received from the Emer-
ald ICE KSU via Port #1.

1. NormalOperation:LEDFlashes[Normally]:500mson,500msoff,repeatedly.InNor‐
malmode,theusercanmake/receiveacallbytheHandsetunitthroughthebaseunit.
2. BaseInTransitionMode:LEDFlash[Slowly]:1000mson,1000msoff,repeatedly.Inthe
Transitionmode,theuserchangestheDIPswitchesstatus.Thesystemwillwaitfor5
secondstoensurecorrectoperation.
3. BaseInRegister/De‐RegisterMode:LEDFlash[Fast]:125mson,125msoff,repeatedly.
AfterauserchangesDIPswitchesstatusfor5seconds,thebaseenterstheregisterand/
orde‐registermode.Theusercanregister/de‐registertheHandsettothebase.Both
RegistrationandDe‐Registrationmustbeperformedwithinthe20‐secondwindowin
whichtheLEDflashesinFastmode.
NOTE: The LED will flash fast for 20 seconds before returning to a slow flash.
