Installation Instructions
Step 1 –Choice of two applications
The Edge of Dock Leveller can be installed in two ways:
a) Wall mounted directly against a loading dock (See Fig 1.1 and Fig 1.2).
For this purpose, the dock must be provided with a mounting edge at the front
consisting of an angled section measuring at least 100mm x 100mm with anchors
spaced at 150mm centres.

b) The leveller can be installed directly into a dock pit (see Fig 1.3). This pit must be
equipped with a protective edge consisting of a similar 100mm x 100mm angled
section with anchors at 150mm centre to centre.

Step 2 –Installation
•Place anchors as specified in Fig 1.2.
•The Edge of Dock Leveller is supplied completely assembled.
•Remove the steel strips.
•Place the leveller on the pit edge by using a forklift and hoisting strap.
•Weld into place.
•Place the leveller in a vertical position and secure it in this position using the
operating hand lever (see Fig 2.1).
•Fit the rubber bumpers. If the dock is provided with a pit, then the bumpers are
fitted directly to the front by anchor bolts. If the dock face has a steel mounting
edge, the bumpers are provided with steel supports. Fit the supports to the front
of the dock with anchor bolts placed at the bottom and weld the supports to the
top of the dock edge.
•Brush all welds clean and apply a primer and finishing coat.
•Fasten the holder for the operating lever at an appropriate spot for operators.

Operating Instructions
•PLEASE NOTE: The leveller should only be used for the purposes for which it is
intended, i.e. the loading and unloading of trucks with the aid of forklifts or pallet
trucks. The leveller shall not be operated above its rated load and permitted
gradient. Never operate the leveller when persons or goods are on it or in front of
it. Do not use the leveller before it has been fully extended and the lip is sufficiently
supported by the floor of the truck. Do not use the leveller if the truck floor is too
low or too high for sufficient support. Ensure the truck is secured before loading or
unloading, to prevent premature departure.
Procedure
•Align the truck correctly with the leveller and open the doors (Fig 3.1).
•If the truck is full and there is no place to accommodate the lip, remove the items
at the rear while the lip is still in stored position (Fig.3.2)
•Take the operating lever from the holder on the leveller and place it in the hole in
the top plate (Fig 3.3).
•Securely hold the lever with both hands and move it towards the floor until the lip-
lifter engages (Fig 3.4).
•Bring the operating lever up again and the top plate is lowered (Fig 3.5). The lip
extends and will rest on the truck floor (Fig 3.6).
•Take the operating lever out of hole and place it in the holder.
•After loading or unloading the truck, place the operating lever in the hole again and
move it towards the floor until the lip slides up and away from the truck floor (Fig
3.7).
•The leveller can now be lowered to its stored position (Fig 3.8).
•Store the operating lever in the holder.
•The truck can now depart.

General Maintenance
Your TRU-LEVEL dock leveller has been designed for heavy duty use with a minimum of
maintenance needed.
However it can be damaged if used carelessly so we recommend that you inspect your
TRU-LEVEL every 3 months for damage. If repair is needed, it is important to get it done
as soon as possible. If it is left it will only cost your company more in the long run.
Should a problem arise, refer to the “Trouble Shooting” section on next page and call a
technician. We do not recommend that you try to fix it yourself.
