Normas de utilización de las baterías de GEL Tecatel
IMPORTANTE : Lea este manual con mucha atención antes de instalar y poner en funcionamiento la batería.
1. Normativa de seguridad
Las baterías de GEL Tecatel almacenan energía química durante la operación de carga y la devuelven en la operación de
descarga en forma de energía eléctrica para su utilización en múltiples aplicaciones. Esta operación se repite constantemente
en su vida útil y tanto la instalación como el mantenimiento y señalización se deben realizar siempre en base a la normativa
vigente .
2. Equipo necesario para manipulación de la batería.
Gafas de protección, guantes, protector para terminales, unidad de descarga y voltímetro.
3. Seguridad
• Utilice gafas protectoras y guantes al trabajar con la batería.
• No fume, ni cree ambiente con chispas cerca de la batería.
• Utilice herramientas con agarradera aislante para conectar las baterías.
• En caso de derrame evite el contacto del electrolito con la piel.
• Revise todas las conexiones de los terminales antes de ponerla en funcionamiento. Las conexiones deben quedar
debidamente apretadas. Si están demasiado apretadas o demasiado flojas pueden quebrarse, fundirse o quemarse.
• Coloque las baterías en soportes específicos para ello.
• Coloque y cargue la batería en un lugar bien ventilado.
• No manipule la batería en su interior.
4. Conexión de las baterías
Los cables de las baterías deben ser de la sección adecuada para que puedan soportar la carga durante el servicio.
Es recomendable que todos los cables que se conecten en los grupos de baterías (serie-paralelo) sean de la misma longitud.
Apriete las conexiones de los cables a los terminales de las baterías asegurando que tengan un buen contacto. Si la
conexión al terminal no se aprieta correctamente, corre el riesgo de que el terminal se rompa o se funda causando que las
conexiones se aflojen, con la posibilidad de causar un incendio.
Es importante mantener las conexiones de los terminales de las baterías limpias. Aplique una capa de vaselina filada o grasa
para terminales de baterías.
5. Ventilación
Las baterías de GEL, aunque no liberan gas en el proceso de carga, es necesario instalarlas en un lugar suficientemente
ventilado.
6. Colocación
Aunque las baterías de GEL no derraman liquido, Colocar las baterias siempre en posición vertical.
7. Mantenimiento preventivo
• Revise la apariencia exterior de la batería; la parte superior y las conexiones deben estar limpias, libres de polvo y
corrosión, y mantenga limpio y seco el lugar en el que se instalen las baterías.
• Si se produce algún derrame de GEL de la batería, se deberá proceder a su desconexión inmediata por seguridad.
8. Almacenamiento
• Asegúrese de que las baterías están cargadas en caso de almacenamiento temporal.
•Almacene las baterías en un lugar limpio, seco y protegido de humedades y polvos.
•Las baterías se auto-descargan gradualmente mientras están almacenadas. Monitoree su voltaje periódicamente.
• Cuando saque las baterías de su almacenamiento, vuelva a cargarlas.
9. Carga de la batería
Es importante cargar la batería de manera adecuada y siguiendo las características de la hoja técnica para optimizar su
rendimiento. Cargarla de más o de menos puede reducir significativamente la vida útil de la batería. Para ello programe
adecuadamente el cargador que vaya a utilizar.
• Asegúrese de que el cargador esté en el programa correcto para la batería que vaya a utilizar
• La batería se debe cargar por completo después de cada uso.
• La batería no tiene efecto de memoria, no necesitan descargarse por completo antes de volver a cargarla.
• Nunca cargue una batería que esté congelada.
• Evite cargar la batería a temperaturas superiores a 49 grados centígrados.
10. Optimización de la vida de las baterías
• Para la instalación, mantenimiento y almacenamiento, siga las instrucciones anteriores.
• No permita que se descargue la batería más del 80%. Este factor de seguridad eliminará la posibilidad de dañar la batería
debido a una descarga profunda y prolongada mayor de lo prevista.

IMPORTANT: Read the manual carefully before installing and operating with the battery.
1. Safety regulation
GEL batteries Tecatel harvest chemical energy during charging and return it in the download operation in the form of electrical
energy for use in multiple applications. This operation recurs constantly in his life and both the installation and maintenance and
signalling must always be based on the current legislation.
2. Tools needed for battery handling.
• Safety glasses, work gloves,terminal protectors, discharge unit and voltimeter.
3. Safety
• Use safety glasses and work gloves to work with the battery.
• Don’t smoke or create sparks near the battery.
• Use tolos with insulation handle to connect the batteries.
• Avoid contact with skin in case of spillable.
• Check the terminal connections before commisioning.
The connections must be tight.Too loose or tight connections may break, melt or burn.
• Place the batteries in specific media for this purpose.
• Place and load the battery in a well ventilated place.
• Don’t handle the battery inside.
4. Battery connections
The battery cables must be of the right size to can bear the load when operating.
It is recommended that the cables on the batteries groups (serial-parallel) be of the same length.
Tighten the cable connections to the battery terminals ensuring good contact.
If the connection to the terminal is not tightened correctly there is a risk that the terminal will break or melt causing fire to occur.
It is important to keep the terminal connections clean. Apply a coat of vaseline or protector for terminals for a correct operation
of the terminals.
5. Ventilation
GEL batteries, although they don’t release gas in charging process, it is necessary to install them in a sufficiently ventilated
place.
6. Placement
Place the batteries allways in an upright position, although GEL batteries don’t spill liquid.
7. Preventive maintenance
• Check the external appearance of the battery; the top and connections must be clean, free of dust and corrosion. Keep the
place where the batteries are installed clean and dry.
• If there is any leaking gel battery, should be to it immediate safety cut-off.
8. Storage
• Make sure that the batteries are charged in case of temporary storage.
• Store the batteries in a clean, dry place protected from moisture and dust.
• The batteries gradually self-discharge while stored.Monitor their voltage periodically.
• When you remove the batteries from their storage, recharge them.
9. Battery charge
It is important to charge the battery correctly, and following the instructions of the technical sheet to optimize its
performance. Charging more or less, can reduce battery lifetime. Program the battery charger properly.
Make sure that the charger is in the correct program.
The battery must be fully charged after each use.
The battery has no memory effect, they don’t need to be fully discharged before recharging.
Never charge a frozen battery.
Avoid charging the battery at temperatures above 49 degrees Celsius.
10. Optimizing the life of the batteries
• For installation, maintenance and storage, follow the instructions above.
• Don’t discharge the battery more tan 80 percent. This safety factor will eliminate the possibility of damaging the battery due to
a greater than expected deep discharge.
