The Dolby noise-reductionsystem is a system designed to
effectively
reducethe annoyinghigh-frequency
"hissing" noise
typically
heard from tapes if this system is not used. During
recording,the system functionsto increase the level of the
high{requency
part
of thesound,andthen,during
playback,
that
same
portion
isweakenedandreturnedtotheprevious
level.This
unit includestwo types of Dolby noise-reduction
systems,
the
DolbyB NR-typeand C NR{ype, and DolbyHX PRO headroom
extensionsystem.

Noiseis reducedto about one-third.
Use
thissystem
when
playing
back
tapesrecordedbytheDolbyB
noise-reductionsystem,such as prerecorded
musictapes,etc.
I DolbyC-typenoise-reductionsystem
Noise
is reducedto aboutone-tenth.
Use
thissystemfortherecordingand
playback
ofsoundsources
thathavea
wide
dynamic
range
and
good
tone
quality,
suchas
FM
broadcastsof liveperformances,
etc.,and
forplaying
backsuch
tapes.

Byfunctioning
to improve
themaximum
output
level
of thetape's
high{requencyrange,this systempermitsrecordings
without
a
dropof the level
of the soundsource's
high{requencyrange.In
addition,by usingthe systemin parallel
with this unit'snoise-
reduction
system,
recording
andplayback
witha greatly
extended
dynamic
rangeis possible.
