IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Windows Operating Systems And Windows Media Players (WMPs)
TherehavebeenmanyversionsofWindowsOperatingSystemsandtheirassociatedMediaPlayersovertheyears.Inmostcasesthedefault
MediaPlayersthatshippedwiththeOperatingsystemshavebeenupgraded.Hereareourrecommendations:
THIS PLAYER WILL OPERATE WITH WINDOWS XP SP1 AND ABOVE, WINDOWS VISTA, AND THE UPCOMING WINDOWS 7.
Windows Vista: ThedefaultplayerisWMP11-therearenoissues.
Windows XP: WinXPoriginallyshippedwithWMP9.ManyusersupgradedtoWMP10.
NotallusershaveinstalledWMP11whichisthelatestversion.
This player is optimised to interface with WMP11.
WindowsXPwillsupportMP11ifServicePack2(SP2)isinstalled.Tondoutifyourver-
sionisSP2:ClickSTART.RightclickintheStartMenuandthenclickonthe‘Properties’tab
whichopens.Refertotheimageattheright.
If you do not have SP2/3 use WMP 10 (or preferably install SP2 or 3 and WMP 11) .

Getting Started
Before using the player you should charge the battery
• Makesuretheplayerisswitchedo.
• ConnectthesuppliedUSBcabletotheplayer
• PlugthecableintoafreeUSBportonthePC.
• Thecomputersystemdetects“Newhardware”andinstallsthedriver
automatically.Waitforthesystemtonishtheinstallation.
• Ifconnectionissuccessfulyouwillseetheplayerscreenontheright.
• WhentheplayerisconnectedtothePC,twodriveswillbecreatedin
“MyComputer”.RefertoPage13forfurtherinformation
• Youshouldleavetheplayerbatterytochargeforatleastsixhours.
Whiletheplayerischargingyoucanuploadlesdirectlytotheplayer
andsynchroniseyourmusicviaWindowsMediaPlayer10or11.
The player controls are disabled when it is connected to the PC!!
RESETTING THE PLAYER
Ifforanyreasontheplayerfreezesandthescreenblanksoutitwillbe
necessarytoperformthisresetprocedure.
• DisconnecttheplayerfromthePC(Refer to Page 15).
• LocatetheRESETholeontheplayer
• Placeasmallpieceofwire(theendofapaperclip)intotheholeand
pressgently.
• Thiswillresettheplayerwhichwillnowworknormally.
OK to disconnect!

Windows Media Player 11 is divided
into two panes.
Therightpanehastheimageof
yourplayer’sharddrive.
Theleftpanecarriesdetailsofall
thelesonyourPC.
Youcannowlocatethelesyou
wanttocopytotheplayerand
dragthemtotherightpane.
Youcandragacompletealbumor
selectedtracks.
When all the les have been trans-
ferred: Click‘STARTSYNC’

After the process has ended:
A message appears in the Right
pane asking you if you want to Sync
more les or disconnect the player.
You can now disconnect the player
and close WMP 11.
NOTE: On rare occasions WMP will
not synchronise an apparently
playable le. If this happens the
le will be marked with a red cross.
Manually uploading the le may
prove successful.
NOTE: Rights protected (DRM) les
will not be uploaded to the player.

Auto Synchronising Playlists
You can make up a personal-
ised playlist in WMP 11 and
sync it to the player:
Makeupaplaylist/s
1: Rightclicktheplayericon
2: Clickon“SetUpSync”
3: Tickthe“AutoSync”box
4: Selecttheplaylist/s
5:Add/removetheplaylist/s
6:Click“Finish”
The selected playlists will be
added to the player.
When synchronising has
ended you can disconnect the
player from the PC if you wish.

When you connect
to the PC for the
rst time
If you like you can click
on the le and play it
on your PC using your
default Media Player.
When you rst connect the player to the PC the player establishes the ve folders shown in Fig 2.
Your music is contained in the folder called “Music” and organised by artist name. If the artist has
recorded several albums those albums will appear in the Artist Folder.
The songs are contained in the individual Album folder
The Artists and albums are identied by WMP automatically .
DO NOT alter the contents or rename these folders except to add lyrics to the songs (See Page 21).
If you wish to delete any song from the “Music” folder do it via WMP - see Page 45-46

If you wish you can create a folder (say holiday) which contains
dierent le types for ready reference.

Operation
SWITCHING ON AND OFF
Allowtheplayertofullycharge.Chargingtimesdependontheamountofresidual
chargeinthebattery.
ConnecttheearphonestotheHEADPHONEsocketorusetheinternalloudspeaker
asyouprefer.
To Switch the player on:
• PressandholdthePOWERkey.Thewelcomescreenactivates.
When you rst switch on:theplayerwillgointoMusic Playmode.
In normal use:whenyouswitchontheplayerwillgotothemodeitwasinwhen
youswitchedito.
To Switch the player o:
• Pressandholdthe button.
NOTE: There is no auto switch-o on this player. If you are not going to use the
player for a period of time, ensure it is switched o to conserve battery life.
LOCK MODE
The purpose of Key Lock is to stop ac-
cidental operation of the keys during
playback.
The Lock function is embedded in the
system software.
AfterapredeterminedtimetheLOCK
functionwillautomaticallylockthe
playerkeys.
WhenKeylockisonyoucannotoper-
atetheplayer.
To release the lock:
• Pressandholdthe button.
Note: You can set the lock time in
System Settings, or disable it if you
prefer- See Page 38

Player Modes
When you rst turn on the player, the main menu appears.
(In normal use the player will return to the last used menu when switched on)
Your player has the following modes:
Pressthe keytomovedownthemodes.Repeat-
edlypressthekeytocycleallthemodes.
Pressthe keytomoveupthemodes.Repeat-
edlypressthekeytocycleallthemodes.
When you reach the desired mode:
Pressthe keytoenterthemode.
To return to the main menu from any mode:
Pressthe button(repeatedlyifneeded)
SD Card mode: This appears only when an SD card
is inserted into the SD card socket on the player.
Now Playing/Last played mode will not appear
after the player is updated.
Music: Play MP3, WMA, WAV and other supported song formats
Video: Watch MP4, FLV and other supported video les
Pictures: View JPGs and other supported images
Radio: Listen to and record FM Radio
Calendar: View (and change) the current Calendar date
Recordings: Make Voice recordings. Play Voice and Radio recordings
Text Reader: View text messages and e-books (in .TXT format)
Folder View: Browse all folders on the player; view and play the contents
Settings: Access and change system settings
Sd card: View and play all supported les stored on the SD card
Now Playing/Last Played: Return to and play the current/last played le
