I. IMPORTANTINFORMATIONSREGARDING THERECOVERYAND RECYCLING OFTHIS
ELECTRONICDEVICE
The crossed-outwheeled binsymbolbelowindicatesthatthiselectronicequipmentisintended to
be disposed inaseparatecollection and not inanunsorted municipalwaste, inordertoprovidefor
the treatmentofWEEE (WasteElectricaland ElectronicEquipment)usingbestavailablerecovery
andrecyclingtechniques.
SpecifictreatmentforWEEEisindispensableinordertoavoidthe dispersion ofpollutantsand
otherhazardoussubstancesintothe wastestream, whilerecyclingleadstoreductionof disposalof
wasteandthenegativeimpactsonenvironmentand humanhealth.Thatis,priorityisgiven to
reuseofWEEEinitscomponents, subassembliesandconsumables.
Asthefinalholder,theuserhasan importantroleincontributing toreuse,recycling andother
formsofrecoveryof WEEE andisresponsibletoreturnthiswasteinthecollectionfacilitiessetup
byECMemberStasesand tofulfill otherdutiesincompliancewithDirective2002/96/ECand local
laws.

1.OVERVIEWOFAA-10 INTERFACE
The AA-10doorphone-PBX interfaceisdesignedtomanage theexternaldoorbell ofthevast
majorityofdoorsystems(4or5wires)throughananalog trunkofthePBX.When avisitorpushes
the doorbell,AA-10makesacall tothetrunk.Thiswill be typicallymanagedbythe PBXoperator.
Thentheoperatorcanspeakwiththevisitoratthedoorbell and then openthedoorwithaDTMF
command.AA-10 isequipped witharelaytoopenthedoor,plustwoauxiliaryrelays (e.g.toturn
on externallightsortocontrolotherdevices).ManycommandscanbegiventhroughDTMF,such
as:startvoicecommunicationwiththeexternaldoorbell,electricdoororgateopening,
(de)activationofauxrelay1,(de)activationofauxrelay2etc.The deviceparameterscan be
programmed through thephoneaswell.
2.MAINCHARACTERISTICS
The mainfeaturesof AA-10are:
•Connection tomostdoorbell systems(4or5wires)
•DINrail mount, fittedwith1open-doorrelayplus2auxiliaryrelays
•Configurableactivationtimeandnumberof pulsesoftheopen-doorrelay
•Programmableusing astandardDTMFphone
•Non-volatileparametermemory(keepssettingseven whennotpowered)
•PowerandstatusLEDs
3.GENERALFUNCTIONS
Whenthe externaldoorphonebutton ispushed,the devicegeneratesautomaticallyacall tothe
PBX.AssoonasAA-10detectsthe operatoranswer,itstopsthe ringcurrentandwaitsforDTMF
commands.Inthemeanwhileitbeepsevery2seconds.Inthe“normal”modetheoperatormust
dial“1”toactivatethecommunicationwiththeexternaldoorphone.Oncethevoiceconnectionis
established,theoperatorcanactivatetheopen-doorrelaydialing“2”.
Hanging up,AA-10returnsidleand readyforanewaccess request.Itisalsopossibletoconnect
withthe externaldoorphone dialingthe suitabledigits(dependent on thePBXconfiguration).Itwill
beep every2secondsandconnectthecallertothe doorphonewhen“1”isdialed.Thisfeatureis
usefulifthereistheneedtoactivateavoiceconnectionwithoutanexplicitrequestfromthe
outside.Forexamplewhenthepresenceofaguest isdetectedusingacamera.
AA-10releasesthe call andreturnsidleifthe operatordoesnotanswerwithin45 seconds.Ifthe
operatoranswerstoacall fromAA-10notduring the workinghoursanddoesnotwanttoopenthe
doornorspeakwiththeguest, he cansimplyhangupafterhearing theAA-10tone.Antheexternal
doorphone, itwill looklikeifnobodywerepresentinside.
Calling AA-10opensthepossibilitytouseitsadditionalfeatures,inparticulartoactivatethetwo
auxiliaryrelays accordingtotheirprogramming.Theycanbeusedtoopen additionaldoorsor
gates,aswell astoturnonalampwhenit’sdark.
Bycombining the AA-10relays withotherappliances,itispossibleforexampletoactivatethe
heating/coolingsystem.
ItispossibletosetAA-10toworkin“autoconnect”mode.Inthismode,AA-10will workinthe
samewayasdescribedabove.ThedifferenceisthatwhentheoperatoranswertotheAA-10call,
thesystemimmediatelyconnectthevisitorwithhim(no “1”digitrequired,asthe “normal”mode).

4.2. Volumeadjustment
The twotrimmersonthetopside(seepicturebelow)adjust the microphoneandspeakervolume.
Mic = externaldoorphonemicrophonesensitivity
Alt = externaldoorphonespeakersensitivity
Beforeproceedingtothe installationitisadvisabletosetthe trimmerstohalfrange.Thenadjust
the Mictrimmertoobtainagoodlistening volumeatthe operatorphone,thenadjusttheAlt
trimmertoobtainagoodlisteningvolumeattheexternaldoorphone.
Inthe casethat hissesarepresent (Larseneffect)trytoreducethe Mic/Alt audiolevelbytrimmers.
Larseneffectdependsonthe externaldoorphone acousticcondition.Itmightbenecessaryto
adjustthetrimmersbeforeinstallingAA-10 on theDINrail,dependingonthepositionwhereitwill
be installed.If it isthecase, connectAA-10andadjustthetrimmersbeforemountingitonthe rail.
