TEN-TEC model 708 and 708A Comnunications Microphone.
GENERAL
TEN-TEC models 708 and 708.4. are uni-directional dynamic micropbones designcd for usc as a
oommunications station miorophone for Amateur Radio and other translnitting applioations. The
unit consists ofa metal die-aast base (plastic bottom cover) widr 3 position PTT switch wlth
momentary TX, OFF, and LOCK positions, flexible metal gooseneck, dynamic microphone
elemcnt and ball-type eJement housing. Thc element has tailored frccluency rcsponse ftom 30 Hz
to 12 kHz designed for excellent transmit a'.rdjo in SSB, AM, and FM modes
Model 708 and 708,4 are identical. The comection cable is supplied with either a 4-pin (modcl
708) or 8-pin (model 708.4) microphone connector installed. Model 708 is suitable fol use wltb
4-pin equrpped TEN-TEC transceivers models 516 Argooaut V, 535 Argonaut II, 536 Delta ll,
560 Corsair,561 Corsair II, 562 Omni-V,563 Omni-Vl, 56'1 Omni-Vl Plus' 565 Orion' 585
Paragon, 586 Paragon IL Modcl 708,4 is suitable fbr usc with the TEN-TEC model 566 Orion I1,
and many Yaesu HF tansceivers.
TNSTALLATION AND OPERATION
Attach the conncction cable to thc transceivcr microphone jack Momentary PTT operahor is
accomplished by pushing the s$'itch on the base ofthe microphone fonvard ar'vay fronr the
operalor inlo the TX position. Hold to continuc tansmitting. Release to stop. The microphone
can be locked 'on' in PTT opcration by pulling the switch on the base lowarcls the opetator
(marked on the base as LOCK). To release. press the switch fonvard to fie cctrler position'
The microphone element in the model 708/708A is always 'live' for VOX operation For VOX
operation on a TEN-TEC transceiver, aclivate the VOX circuitry and then speak into the
microphone. It is not necessary to move the PTT slider switch fo the TX or LOCK positions'
