1. Satellite Support Process
In order to assist in getting your satellite signal up and running as quickly as
possible please ensure that you read, understand and action the items below
before proceeding further with the manual:
1. Ensure that the television / projector and decoder are all
plugged into an AC power source, and the power source is
switched on.
2. Check that the remote control batteries are inserted correctly
into the battery compartment.
3. Ensure that you television is correctly tuned to the decoder and
either a picture of the TEN channel is displayed or the decoder
screen with the error message being displayed.
4. Once all of the above is completed and correct please refer to
the manual below and follow the steps required in order to get
your decoder properly installed.
5. Once you have plugged in your new decoder, it can take up to one
hour for your new decoder and the satellite to pair and activate. At
regular intervals the satellite transmits a code to decoders which allow
the decoder to unlock the encoded signal. It may take up to one hour
before decoder receives this signal from the satellite. Please allow
sufficient time for this process to take place.
If you are having trouble with connecting your decoder
you will need to refer to your local installer first to assist
with getting the decoder connected. If you are unsure
of who your installer is please refer to your Regional
Manager for further assistance.
6. If the local installer is unable to assist further they will contact the
TEN Technical Support team for further assistance. Please do not
contact the satellite provider directly as you will be referred back
to the TEN Technical Support team.
7. If you have followed the installation instructions below and you
are still not able to view the Teach Every Nation (TEN) channel on
channel 710, please follow step (a) and (b)below. This will assist
us in resolving the issue.
a. Take a photo of the television so we can see precisely
what is on the screen, including the channel number.
b. Send an email with the listed information to
information:
i. Church / Site Name
ii. Church / Site Address
iii. Dean Name and Surname
iv. Dean Cell Phone Number

4
v. Decoder CAS ID
vi. Smart Card Number
vii. Dish Size (60 cm/80 cm/90 cm)
Please setup and test your decoder connection at least
a week before the broadcast occurs to ensure that any
issues can be addressed beforehand.
8. Note that heavy storms and severe wind can affect signal quality
and strength. Please test the decoder when the weather is
normal.
9. The decoder is the property of TEN is to be used for the sole
purpose of the Teach Every Nation broadcasts. Therefore the
only channels viewable are those that TEN has selected and all
other channels will be blocked.
10.No PIN codes for decoders will be supplied to any installers or
deans. Should the decoder be faulty or incorrectly setup the
decoder must be swapped out and returned to TEN. A
replacement decoder will be provided.
Do’s and Don’ts
If you are using a generator use a step down to regulate the
voltage. This will reduce the risk of the decoder getting
burned / damaged.
Once the installer has aligned the dish properly avoid
moving or tampering with the alignment as this will affect
signal quality.
Where possible make use of a qualified installer to make
adjustments where necessary.

decoder and television and depend on whether you are using RCA or RF
cables. Once this has been removed you are ready to move on to the next
step.

3. Troubleshooting
There are several factors that can affect a quality signal being received.
Some of these, as previously mentioned, could be weather or incorrect
alignment of the satellite dish. Listed below are some examples of issues that
could be experienced if you have completed the installation process and no
broadcast is displayed.
The Smartcard is Not Registered
The following message will be shown if the smart card and decoder have not
been paired. In this case please follow the process as described in the
Introduction section on page 2.
The SmartCard Has Expired
If you are receiving an error message that says your SmartCard has expired, it
means that your decoder has not been connected to the satellite for at least
30 days. In order to rectify this leave you decoder switched on and
connected to the satellite dish for at least 8 hours. The decoder and
SmartCard will register onto the satellite network automatically and a signal
will be received shortly.
It is important that to ensure that your connection stays
active that you connect your decoder at least once
every thirty days. This will ensure the satellite network
keeps your connection active.

15
Signal is Not Available
This error message displays when the signal is not being received by the
decoder. This could be as a result of bad weather or bad cable connections.
Please check the cable connections to ensure there is proper contact with
the cable and the receiver.
However, if the weather is normal the satellite dish will need to be aligned
with the Intel Sat 20 satellite and the Freevision transponder. If you are unable
to adjust the satellite you will need to request a professional installer to assist.
Picture is Visible but No Sound
First off ensure that the volume is up on both your decoder and the television.
If you are receiving a picture but cannot hear any sound you need to refer to
your installation / setup guide for your television. The television needs to be set
to PAL system. In some televisions this is also referred to as “I” system. Once
adjusted your volume levels need to be checked on the decoder and
television and you should be receiving clear audio.

16
4. Adjusting the Aspect Ratio
The video that is broadcast is originally setup for televisions with an aspect
ratio of 16:9. Most televisions nowadays have this setting readily available and
are set for it.
However, the older televisions operate with an aspect ratio of 4:3, which
produces a shorter and broader picture. You can adjust this via the television
and decoder. For the adjustment via television you will need to refer to your
television instruction manual. The process below will help you to adjust the
aspect ratio on the decoder.
Push the menu button on the decoder remote, located above the P+ button
on the left handle side of the remote. A menu will appear as per the below
picture. Use the arrows to scroll down to the Settings option and push the OK
button in the centre of the remote.

TEN Dean Installation Guide 20150203.docx
17
Upon selecting OK a new menu will appear as displayed below. Use the
arrow keys to move the selection bar to the „TV Display‟ option and once
again push the OK button located in the middle of the remote control.
A new menu will appear as displayed below, with display information listed in
the box to the right. You will see here what your aspect ratio setting is. In the
example below it is set to 4:3. Use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the
„Format‟ menu option and click OK

18
You will see a selection to change the aspect ratio as below. Use the arrow
buttons to select the appropriate option and push OK. This will save and
adjust the aspect ratio accordingly.
