1.2 General information
This Use and Care Guide explains the basics of operating
your appliance and those safety measures that must be
followed. For complete and safe installation information,
refer to the Installation Instructions included with the
appliance.
All product manuals may be downloaded online at
www.thermador.com/us/support/owner-manuals.
INSTALLER: Please leave these instructions with this unit
for the owner.
OWNER: Please retain these instructions for future
reference. Read all safety instructions before operating
the appliance. Have the installer show you where the
electric circuit breaker is located so you know how and
where to turn off the electricity to the appliance.

▶Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch power off
at service panel and lock service panel. This will
prevent power from being switched on accidentally.
When the service panel cannot be locked, securely
fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag to the
service panel.

exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.

WARNING
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A RANGE TOP GREASE
FIRE
▶Never Leave Surface Units Unattended at High
Settings - Boilovers cause smoking and greasy
spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or
medium settings.
▶Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat.
▶Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be
allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
▶Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate
for the size of the surface element.
▶Do not flambé under the extractor hood or work with a
naked flame. When switched on, the extractor hood
draws flames into the filter. There is a risk of fire due to
deposits on the grease filter!
WARNING
Repairs should only be done by an authorized service
provider. Improper repair of your appliance may result in
risk of severe physical injury or death.
CAUTION
Grease left on filters can re-melt and move into the vent.
Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be
allowed to accumulate on fan, filters, or exhaust ducts.
¡This appliance must be properly installed and grounded
by a qualified technician. Connect only to properly
grounded supply. Refer to installation instructions for
details.
¡Have the installer show you the location of the circuit
breaker or fuse. Mark it for easy reference.
¡This appliance is intended for normal family household
use only. It is not approved for outdoor use. Use of this
product in a commercial setting or if installed outdoors
is not covered by the warranty. If you have any
questions, contact the manufacturer.
¡DO NOT store or use corrosive chemicals, vapors,
flammables, or nonfood products in or near this
appliance. It is specifically designed for use when
heating or cooking food. The use of corrosive
chemicals in heating or cleaning will damage the
appliance and could result in injury.
¡DO NOT operate this appliance if it is not working
properly or if it has been damaged. Contact a qualified
service provider.
¡DO NOT repair or replace any part of the appliance
unless specifically recommended in this manual.
¡For safety reasons and to avoid potential equipment
damage, do not hang cookware, fabrics, or other
articles from any part of the appliance.
¡Have an appropriate fire extinguisher available, nearby,
highly visible and easily accessible near the cooking
appliance.
¡Always have a working smoke detector near the
kitchen.
¡Do Not Use Water on Grease Fires - Smother fire or
flame or use dry chemical or foam-type extinguisher.
¡Whenever possible, do not operate the ventilation
system during a cooktop fire. However, do not reach
through fire to turn it off.
¡If your garments or hair catch fire, fall to the ground
immediately and roll to extinguish the flames.
¡Examine the appliance after unpacking it. In the event
of transport damage, do not plug it in.
1.4 Child safety
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety.
When children become old enough to use the appliance, it
is the responsibility of the parents or legal guardians to
ensure that they are instructed in safe practices by
qualified persons.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.

Do not allow children to use this appliance unless closely
supervised by an adult.
▶Children and pets should not be left alone or
unattended in the area where the appliance is in use.
They should never be allowed to play in its vicinity,
whether or not the appliance is in use.
Do not allow anyone to climb, stand, lean, sit, or hang on
any part of an appliance.

NOTICE:
Condensation may cause corrosion damage.
▶To prevent condensation from building up, switch on the
appliance during cooking.
If moisture gets into the controls, this may result in
damage.
▶Never clean controls with a wet cloth.
Incorrect cleaning damages the surfaces.
▶Follow the cleaning instructions.
▶Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
▶Clean stainless steel surfaces in the grain direction
only.
▶Never clean controls with stainless steel cleaners.
Condensation that flows back in may damage the
appliance.
▶The air extraction duct must be installed with a gradient
of at least 1° from the appliance.
There is a risk of surface damage if you do not peel off the
protective film.
▶Remove the protective film from all parts of the
appliance before using for the first time.

3.1 Disposal of packaging
The packaging materials are environmentally compatible
and can be recycled.
▶Sort the individual components by type and dispose of
them separately.
3.2 Saving energy
If you follow these instructions, your appliance will use
less power.
Clean or replace the filters at the specified intervals, or as
frequently as needed.
aThe effectiveness of the filters is retained.
Switch off the lighting if you no longer require it.
aWhen the lighting is switched off, it does not consume
any energy.
Put the cooking lid on.
aThe cooking vapors and condensation are reduced.
Only use the additional functions if required.
aSwitching off additional functions reduces power
consumption.

The touch keys are touch sensitive areas on the control panel. The active function or level remains illuminated.

¡Download the HomeConnect® (America) app to
remotely control your appliance, get cooking inspiration,
and access service tips and support.

¡This Use and Care Guide covers several models. Not
all features are available on all models.
5.1 Important notes
WARNING
To avoid risk of burns, turn the hood ON when cooking at
high heat or when flambéing food.
DO NOT use all heating elements or gas burners
simultaneously at high settings for a prolonged period
(max.15minutes).
If the hood is located over a gas cooktop, operate the
hood at maximum setting whenever three or more gas
burners are being used.
DO NOT operate the ventilation system during a cooktop
fire.
¡IMPORTANT: DO NOT use the cooktop, rangetop, or
range while the hood is disassembled.
¡All hoods require the choice of a remote, in-line, or
integral blower. Use only Thermador blowers with
Thermador ventilation hoods. All blower models are
sold separately. See the Ventilation Planning Guide for
recommended blowers. Contact Customer Service
foradditional options. → Page14
¡All hood models are rated for 120VAC, using a 15A or
20A circuit breaker; see Installation Guide for more
details.
¡When connected to a GFCI-protected supply,
Thermador Professional® Series hoods are suitable for
use in damp locations that are protected from outside
weather conditions and not subject to saturation with
water and other liquids, but can be subject to moderate
degrees of moisture, such as an outdoor covered patio
or lanai area. Refer to local codes, NEC/CEC, and/or
the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for additional
information.

6.1 For better results
Follow these recommendations to achieve better
ventilation results.
¡Turn on the blower for about 5 minutes before cooking
in order to establish air currents upward through the
hood. Thus when heat, smoke, moisture, grease and
cooking odors are produced, they will be carried outside
instead of drifting into other rooms.
¡Use the lower speed levels for normal use and the
higher speed levels for strong odors or fumes.
¡Drafts across the range or cooktop will reduce the
effectiveness of the hood. Such drafts should be
prevented when possible.
¡Ventilation is done best where the only air currents are
those created by the blower itself.
¡Regular use of the hood while cooking helps keep the
kitchen comfortable and less humid.
¡Use a rear burner when browning or pan frying meat.
¡For optimal performance, the width of the hood should
equal that of the cooktop or rangetop or exceed it by 3
inches on either side. Install these hoods only with
Thermador blowers.

6.3 Delay shut off
The hood runs on for 10minutes after pressing DELAY.
This feature can be started when the hood is turned off or
already running.
1. Press DELAY while the hood is turned OFF.
aThe blower turns on at high speed setting for
10minutes.
aAfter 10minutes the blower automatically turns off.
2. Press DELAY while the hood is turned ON.
aThe blower runs on for 10minutes at the current fan
speed. The DELAY button is illuminated.
aAfter 10minutes the blower automatically turns off.
3. To interrupt the delay shut off, press one of the fan
speed buttons or press 0 to turn the hood off.
Tip:You can set a different delay time in the settings
menu of your HomeConnect® app.
6.4 Automatic mode
With AUTO mode, the hood control monitors the amount
of heat emitted, and automatically turns the blower on or
off. The settings are automatically adjusted every
5minutes.
▶Touch AUTO to activate the automatic mode.
6.5 Clean filter reminder
After 40hours of operation, the FILTER button illuminates.
This indicates that the filters need to be cleaned.
Clean the filters as instructed in this manual.
Tip:To receive a clean filter reminder through the
HomeConnect® app, activate the feature in the settings
menu of the app. You may also review the filter saturation
within the HomeConnect® app.

Turning off clean filter reminder
▶After cleaning the filters, press and hold FILTER for
3seconds until it beeps.
aThe 40-hour period is reset and the reminder is turned
off.
6.6 LED lights
1. Press LIGHTS once to turn on the lights.
2. Press LIGHTS again to dim the lights.
3. Press LIGHTS a third time, to turn the lights off.
Tip:With the 0 –100% light slider in the HomeConnect®
app you can obtain the perfect level of light.
6.7 Control tone
▶Press and hold FILTER and LIGHTS for 3seconds to
turn the control tone off or on.
Note:You can also turn the control tone off or on in the
HomeConnect® app.

HomeConnect®
This appliance may be network-capable. Connecting your
appliance to a mobile device lets you control its functions
via the HomeConnect® app, adjust its basic settings and
monitor its operating status.
The HomeConnect® services are not available in every
country. The availability of the HomeConnect® function
depends on the availability of HomeConnect® services in
your country. You can find information on this at:
www.home-connect.com.
The HomeConnect® app guides you through the entire
registration process. Follow the instructions in the
HomeConnect® app to implement the settings.
Tips
¡Consult the HomeConnect® documents supplied.
¡Follow the instructions in the HomeConnect® app as
well.
Notes
¡Also note the safety information in this instruction
manual and ensure that it is also observed when
operating the appliance using the HomeConnect® app.
¡Operating the appliance on the appliance itself always
takes priority. It is not possible to operate the appliance
using the HomeConnect® app during this time.
¡In networked standby mode, the appliance requires a
maximum of 2watts.
¡If you need your device's MAC address to connect to
your home network, you can find this next to the rating
plate. → Page14
7.1 Setting upHomeConnect®
Requirements
¡The appliance is connected to the power supply and is
switched on.
¡You have a mobile device with a current version of the
iOS or Android operating system, e.g. a smartphone.
¡The mobile device and the appliance are within range of
your home network's WLAN signal.
1. Download the HomeConnect® app.

2. Open the HomeConnect® app and scan the following
QR code.
3. Follow the instructions in the HomeConnect® app.
7.2 Software update
Your appliance's software can be updated using the
software update function, e.g. for the purposes of
optimization, troubleshooting or security updates.
To do this, you must be a registered
HomeConnect®user, have installed the app on your
mobile device and be connected to the
HomeConnect®server.
As soon as a software update is available, you will be
informed via the HomeConnect®app and will be able to
start the software update via the app. Once the update
has been successfully downloaded, you can start installing
it via the HomeConnect®app if you are in your home
network (Wi-Fi). The HomeConnect®app informs you
once the installation is successful.
Notes
¡The software update consists of two steps.
–The first step is the download.
–The second step is the installation on your appliance.
¡You can continue to use your appliance as normal while
updates are downloading. Depending on your personal
settings in the app, software updates can also be set to
download automatically.
