prote tion algorithm prote ts the engine from high
oolant temperature shutdowns and possible
engine damage. It will redu e the load on the
engine by temporarily redu ing refrigeration
apa ity. This lowers the engine temperature while
still allowing ontinued unit operation.
•MMoodduullaattiioonn CCoonnttrrooll:: Modulation ontrol provides
pre ise ontrol of the temperature in the argo area.
As the return air temperature begins to approa h
the setpoint, the mi ropro essor begins to lose the
ETV to redu e the apa ity. The mi ropro essor
loses the ETV more as the return air temperature
gets loser to the setpoint. When the return air
temperature is near setpoint, the ETV may lose to
its limit and the hot gas bypass valve may open.
When the return air temperature begins to move
away from the setpoint, the ETV begins to open and
the hot gas bypass valve loses (if it was open).
This provides very smooth and steady temperature
ontrol and the temperature does not os illate
above and below setpoint as mu h as it does in a
unit that does not have modulation ontrol.

The SR-3 is a mi ropro essor ontrol system designed
for a transport refrigeration system. The SR-3
integrates the following fun tions:
• Changing setpoint and operating mode
• Viewing gauge, sensor, and hourmeter readings
• Initiating Defrost y les
• Viewing and learing alarms
The mi ropro essor omponents are lo ated inside the
ontrol box, whi h is lo ated inside the lower roadside
servi e door. The mi ropro essor is onne ted to a
Human Ma hine Interfa e (HMI) Control Panel. It is
used to operate the unit. The HMI ontrol panel is
mounted on the fa e of the ontrol box. It is learly
visible through an opening in the lower roadside
servi e door.

When CYCLE-SENTRY Mode is sele ted, the unit will
start and stop automati ally to maintain setpoint, keep
the engine warm, and the battery harged. When
Continuous Mode is sele ted, the unit starts
automati ally and runs ontinuously to maintain
setpoint and provide onstant airflow.
NNoottee The SR-3 Controller provides a wide range of
control and programming flexibility. However,
pre-programming of the unit controller may
prohibit operation in certain temperature ranges
within some modes and may also prohibit
certain modes of operation. Refer to the SR-3
Trailer Single Temperature SL-400e, SLX/SLXe/
SLXi Series Diagnostic Manual TK 56487 for
information about controller programming.
In CYCLE-SENTRY, if the blo k temperature falls below
30 F (-1 C), the engine will start and run until the blo k
temperature is above 90 F (32 C). If the battery voltage
falls to the programmed limit sele ted by CYCLE-
SENTRY Battery Voltage (typi ally 12.6 volts) and
Diesel CYCLE-SENTRY mode is sele ted, the engine
will start and run until the harge rate falls below that
programmed by CYCLE-SENTRY Amps (typi ally 2
amperes).
Features of the CYCLE-SENTRY system are:
• Offers either CYCLE-SENTRY or Continuous Run
operation.
• Controller regulated all season temperature
ontrol.
• Maintains minimum engine temperature in low
ambient onditions.
• Battery Sentry keeps batteries fully harged during
unit operation.
• Variable preheat time.
• Preheat indi ator buzzer.
Data Logging
There are two separate data loggers. The data is
downloaded through one of the data ports using a flash
drive or a PC and WinTra software.
