Thomas&Betts AFM-FAS Series User manual

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
(Floor Box)
STEP 1
Orient AFM-FAS Series Floor Box so that the knock out (K.O.)
plates are aligned with the Conduit Space of the Raised Floor
Panel. The Retainer Clips must be flush against the side of the
floor box prior to placing the box into the floor. This is to ensure
the floor box is centered inside the raised floor panel (see Fig. A).
AFM-FAS Series Floor Boxes are to be used with AFM-FAS-C-BLK (black) or AFM-FAS-C-GRY (gray) Covers
(4) 2” x 1” Knock Outs
(K.O.’s) for Data Cables
STEP 2
All four Mounting Tabs must be flat against the top surface of
Raised Floor Panel. Locate both Retainer Clips (see Fig. B). Once
the floor box is in place, use a screwdriver to secure Retainer
Clips by tightening the Screw located on top of the Mounting Tab
clockwise to secure the Retaining Clip (see Fig.B). The Floor Box
should not be able to move once secured properly.

Connector Plate (Figure C.1) from inside of Floor Box by
removing screw and lifting Plate out of slot.
AFM-FAS-B
Remove the knock-out(s) as required from the 1/2 K.O. Plate
(see Figure C). If K.O. Plate is bent, straighten before installing
conduit. Pull conduit through the openings in Floor Box and
Plate, and install using appropriate conduit fitting. Reinstall
the Plate to the Floor Box.
AFM-FAS-B-CII
Use the 10-Pin Modular Connector Plate(s) (see Figure C.1).
Install Connector (not shown) to Plate. Reinstall the Plate to
the Floor Box.
NOTE: A Blank Plate is provided for applications where only
one side of the Floor Box is activated.
STEP 4
OPTION A: Electrical Power Only
Connect wires to the electrical device(s) and mount to the
appropriate Device Panel (see Fig. D). When mounting an
additional device, remove the Device Knockout.
OPTION B: Data Only
Remove 1/2 K.O. Plate or 10-Pin Modular Connector Plate,

STEP 5 (Option C -Electrical and Data)
Install the Voltage-divider (AFM-FAS-DIV) in the marked location
of the Floor Box (see Figures E.1 and E.2). Electrical power
will be on side where the 1/2 K.O. Plate or 10-Pin Modular
Connector Plate is mounted. The oval knockout on the other
side of the Voltage-divider should be removed to allow passage
of data cable. Make certain back edge of Voltage-divider is up
against inside vertical wall of Floor Box. The Device Panel (not
shown) will secure the Voltage-Divider in place.
Optional Wire Tunnel, AFM-FAS-WT (sold separately) can be
used to extend power to the other Device Panel on opposite
side of Floor Box (see Step 6).
STEP 6 (Option C-Electrical and Data)
Use Wire Tunnel, AFM-FAS-WT, under one of the following
conditions (see Figure G):
A. Extending power from one Device Panel to the other
Device Panel on other side of Floor Box.
B. Power Device is not accessible to 1/2 K.O. Plate or
10-Pin Modular Connector Plate because of the
Voltage-divider.
Remove the knockouts for the Wire Tunnel from the Device
Panels (see Figure F.1). Place electrical wires under Wire
Tunnel and install as shown in the figure. Secure in place
using the Device Panels (see Figure F.2).
