DCU22x Series and DCC1x45 Series
USB 2.0 Camera
Thank you for buying a DCx Series camera. On this “Getting started” flyer you can see
how easy it is to install a DCx Series camera. The CD should start automatically. If not,
please start the “Autorun.exe” file on the CD. After the installation start “camera info” or
the “camera viewer” in the samples folder to check the connection.

1Introduction
1.1 Safety Information
The product must be connected, taken into operation and maintained only by appropriately qualified
personnel.
The error-free and safe operation of this product can only be ensured if it is properly transported,
stored, set up and assembled, and operated and maintained with due care.

2General Information
2.1 At a glance
This manual describes the hardware operation of the DCx series USB 2.0 camera.
The DCx camera family uses CCD sensors using the global shutter method as well as CMOS
sensors with rolling shutter.
The resolution of the DCx cameras varies from 1024 x 768 pixels (XGA) to 1280 x 1024 pixels
(SXGA). Thanks to the rugged metal housing and the small constructional design, the cameras are
perfectly suited for use in industrial and medical applications.
DCx cameras are available as both monochrome and color cameras.The images are digitised in the
camera and transmitted to a PC via the standard USB2.0 interface. An additional frame grabber is
not necessary.The USB2.0 interface is now available in every current PC and notebook/laptop and
provides a band width of 480 Mbit. DCU cameras are fully Plug & Play. The camera is connected by
just a single cable. Image and control data and power supply from the PC is transmitted through this
cable. A separate power supply is not necessary.
A Software Development Kit (SDK) is provided with DCU cameras to allow their integration into own
programs under Windows 2000 and XP (32 bit), Windows Vista and Windows7 (32 and 64 bit) and
LINUX. All information about programming can be found in the Software Development Kit section
of this manual.

information, which is possibly not contained in the printed edition of the manual.
