SUCCESSFUL EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIRES THE OWNER TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATION, AS WELL AS FOR
SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE. WHEN APPLICABLE, OPERATIONAL ITEMS ARE ADDRESSED TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL POSSIBLE
BY THE DEALER AND BOURGAULT. HOWEVER, SOME FUNCTIONAL ITEMS ARE BEST VERIFIED IN THE FIELD AND THEREFORE
IT IS ULTIMATELY THE OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT OPERATIONAL ITEMS ARE VERIFIED AT START UP AND AT
APPROPRIATE TIME INTERVALS.
BELOW IS A BASIC OPERATIONAL CHECKLIST TO BE USED TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL SEEDING SYSTEM ISSUES.
• ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS BEING DELIVERED TO THE CORRECT SEED AND FERTILIZER OPENER OUTLETS, SPECIFICALLY:
• THE SECONDARY MANIFOLDS ARE CONNECTED TO THE CORRECT PRIMARY MANIFOLD PORT,
• SEED IS DIRECTED TO SEED OPENERS AND FERTILIZER TO FERTILIZER OPENERS.
• WHEN EQUIPPED WITH AUTO SECTION CONTROL (ASC), VERIFY THE FOLLOWING CRITICAL ITEMS:
• THE ASC SYSTEM PHYSICALLY SHUTS-OFF THE SAME LOCATION ON THE DRILL AS THE LOCATION INDICATED ON THE MONITOR,
• THE ASC ON AND OFF TIMINGS IS VERIFIED, FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN MISSES AND/OR OVERLAP,
• THE ASC CONTROL MODE (% OF OVERLAP PER SECTION) IS FIELD TESTED, FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN MISSES AND/OR
OVERLAP.
• VERIFY THE DEPTH OF ALL SEED OPENERS AND ALL FERTILIZER OPENERS ARE CHECKED AND SET TO PROVIDE PROPER PRODUCT
PLACEMENT (WHENEVER PACKING FORCE AND/OR SOIL CONDITIONS CHANGE).
• ENSURE THE PACKING FORCE IS SET TO DELIVER APPROPRIATE LEVELS OF SEED TO SOIL CONTACT AND SOIL COMPACTION.
• VERIFY THAT OPERATION SPEED IS MONITORED. (EXCESSIVE SOIL MOVEMENT (STEPPING) WILL RESULT IF EXCESSIVE GROUND SPEED
OCCURS FOR THE GIVEN; SOIL CONDITIONS, SEED AND FERTILIZER OPENER SELECTION AND DEPTH).
• VERIFY CALIBRATION OF THE AIR SEEDER IS PROPERLY PERFORMED TO ENSURE ACCURATE APPLICATION RATES ARE ACHIEVED FOR
EACH OF THE PRODUCTS BEING APPLIED.
• ENSURE FAN SPEED(S) ARE CORRECTLY SET BY:
• CLOSELY FOLLOWING THE FAN SPEED SETTING PROCEDURE AND REFERENCING THE APPROPRIATE CHARTS,
• AND ACHIEVING CLEANOUT TIME OF LESS THAN 4 SECONDS.
NOTE: FAILURE TO CORRECTLY SET FAN SPEED MAY RESULT IN UNEVEN DISTRIBUTION, PLUGGING AND/OR PREMATURE
HOSE WEAR.
• MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE AIR SEEDER TANK PRESSURIZES PROPERLY AND IS FREE OF AIR LEAKS.
• WHEN EQUIPPED WITH A LIQUID APPLICATION SYSTEM VERIFY:
• THE LIQUID FILTERS, MANIFOLDS, DISTRIBUTION HOSES AND NOZZLES (WHERE FITTED) ARE OPERATING AT THE CORRECT SYSTEM
PRESSURE, FREE FROM LEAKS, RESTRICTIONS AND DAMAGE,
• THE LIQUID TANK IS SEALED, THE BREATHER TUBE UNRESTRICTED AND THE OVERFLOW MANAGEMENT VALVE (WHERE FITTED) IS
OPEN DURING FILL AND CLOSED DURING USE,
• THE UNIT IS THOROUGHLY FLUSHED BEFORE WING-FOLD, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE.
AS THE OWNER, I ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PERFORMANCE RELATED ISSUES AS A RESULT OF NOT ADHERING
TO THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE (WHERE APPLICABLE) OR NOT ADHERING TO OTHER PROCEDURES CONSIDERED INHERENT FOR
BASIC EQUIPMENT OPERATION AS OUTLINED IN THE APPLICABLE OPERATOR’S MANUAL.

console.
The system is a powerful tool that will provide a
wide range of options to the operator.

as reference only. If your tractor is equipped with
non-Topcon guidance equipment, then the auto
steering will be a part of that system and the X35
console will be used for mapping purposes only.

Information
1.1 Introduction
Important
It is important that you do not change settings or
operate buttons on the X35 console with anyone
working on or around the seeding unit. Certain
functions of the console operate components on the
machine which can cause serious injury or death.
1.1.1 Software Version
The system can be upgraded as new features are
added. To check what version of the software is
installed, select the System Information button on
the left side of the screen, refer to Figure 1.1.
Check with the dealer if a new version is available
for update. Contact Bourgault Service for more
information.

1.2.1 USB Wi-Fi Antenna
The Wi-Fi antenna connects into the USB port on
the X35 console. This can generate a local hotspot
or connect to the internet through a hotspot.
This can be used for remote control of functions
through a smartphone or tablet, or can be used for
remote support.
The X35 console is a Linux based computer
system contained within an ABS housing. The
console has no internal moving parts and the
housing is designed to ensure long life in even the
toughest conditions.
The console has a 13.5" LCD touch screen display.
The back panel of the X35 Console has a few
connection ports, refer to Figure 1.3.
1. Two CAN ports which are used for harness
connections;
2. The ethernet port allows connection to the
CL55 module for the optional I2I feature;
3. A USB port can be used to connect a
thumbdrive or any other Topcon supported
USB devices.
a. Using a USB memory stick, you can
transfer files from your console to the USB
memory stick or import specific files from
USB memory to your console.
b. There is a 2nd USB port on the X35
harness to allow hooking up multiple
devices.
4. Two camera ports used to connect cameras.

1.3 Keypad
The same keypad is used in-cab and on the frame
(tank mounted) of the air seeder.
The in-cab keypad connects to a 9-pin AMP
connection in the tractor cab.
The tank mounted keypad is installed on the frame
to control the meters when in calibration mode. It
is also used to run meters to check runs when the
unit is stationary.
The keypad:
1. Will control up to 8 tanks;
2. Is an alternate means of controlling the air
seeder to the console touch screen;
3. Has an in-cab keypad, that can be placed near
tractor controls for easy access;
