The wires in the mains lead are labelled in
accordance with the following code:
Blue neutral [N] Brown live [L] Green/
Yellow [EARTH]
Plug Fitting Details (Where Applicable).

Non-Rewireable Mains Plug.
If your appliance is supplied with a non-

should the fuse need replacing, you must use an
ASTA approved one (conforming to BS 1362 of
the same rating).
If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician who
will be pleased to do this for you.
If you need to remove the plug - disconnect it
from the mains - then cut it off of the mains

Before First Use:
Read all instructions and safety information carefully before first use. Please retain this information
for future reference.
1. Remove the appliance from the packaging.
2. Check all components are present.
3. Clean all the detachable components according to the following section of ‘CLEANING AND
CARE’. Then reassemble them completely.
4. Ensure the filter is in position. Place the carafe on the removable shelf.
5. Prior to initial use, operate the appliance for the first time without coffee, filling the carafe
with water to the maximum mark. Refer to the ‘Using Your Appliance’ section for instructions.
Repeat this process 2-3 times.
6. Your appliance is now ready for normal use.
7. Dispose of the packaging in a responsible manner.
Using Your Appliance:
NOTE: If the appliance is not turned to the OFF position but left at the coffee or steam positions, the
unit will power off automatically after 25 minutes.
Making Espresso Coffee:
CAUTION: Before pouring the water into the water tank, ensure the power cord is unplugged from
the power outlet and the steam control is in the OFF position.
1. Remove the water tank cover by turning it anti-clockwise.
2. Using the carafe, fill the water tank to above the minimum line but DO NOT exceed the
maximum capacity line.
3. Replace the tank cover by turning it clockwise until it locks into position.
4. Put the filter into the portafilter and add the required amount of coffee powder, then press the
coffee powder tightly with the tamper.
NOTE: The maximum capacity the carafe will hold is 4 shots of espresso.
NOTE:Always use a coarse coffee powder suitable for these appliances. Fine coffee powder is not
suitable.
5. Make sure the portafilter notches align with the grooves in the appliance, then insert the
portafilter into the ‘INSERT’ position. Fix the portafilter into the appliance firmly by turning
it anti-clockwise until it is locked in the ‘LOCK’ position.
6. Place the carafe on the drip tray.
7. Plug the power cord into the mains outlet (ensure that the control is set to the OFF
position).
8. Turn the steam control to the position. The indicator will illuminate. Wait for
approximately 2 minutes, when coffee will begin to flow out.
CAUTION: Do not leave the coffee maker unattended whilst in operation.
9. Once the desired amount of coffee is made, turn the steam control to the position
to release the residual steam pressure in the tank. The indicator light will go off and the
appliance will stop. The coffee is now ready.
10. Remove the carafe and turn the steam control knob to the position.
CAUTION: When pouring, be careful not to angle the carafe beyond a safe angle. We recommend
the inclination is of no more than 45 degrees from the vertical position. Pour the coffee slowly,
otherwise the coffee may splash out and cause scalding.
11. Before removing the filter or opening the water tank cover, make sure the residual steam
pressure in the tank has been released. With the steam control at the position and once
pressure has released and the unit has cooled down the filter can be removed and the water
tank cover opened. To open the portafilter, turn it clockwise, remove the filter and empty
the coffee residue out by pressing the press bar. Once fully cooled, rinse under running
water. When reassembling the filter turn over the press bar to the original position.

7
Frothing Milk/ Making Cappuccino:
To achieve a cup of cappuccino, top up a cup of espresso with frothing milk.
1. Prepare an espresso, following the instructions in the “Making Espresso Coffee” section.
2. Fill a jug with the desired amount of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared.
NOTE: Use whole milk at refrigerator temperature (not hot).
NOTE: In choosing the size of jug, it is recommend the diameter is not less than 70±5mm. Ensure
also that the height of the jug is sucient, as the milk will increase in volume.
3. Turn the steam control to the position. The indicator light will illuminate.
4. Insert the steam frother device into the milk to about two centimetres. After about 2 minutes,
steam will be emitted from the frothing device. Slowly move the jug around and up and down
to create frothy milk.
NOTE: Use ≤200ml water to create steam. Too much water will create insucient steam, and there
will be too much water content in the frothing milk.
5. Once the milk is suciently frothy turn the steam control to the OFF position to stop the
frothing process.
6. Remove the jug and allow the release of the residual steam in the tank.
NOTE: Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after steam stops emitting. Take care
to prevent scalding.
NOTE: Refer to step 11 “Making Espresso Coffee” regarding releasing the steam pressure and
opening the tank and funnel.
7. Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso, to create a cappuccino. Sweeten to taste and
if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder.
NOTE: To prevent the next batch of coffee brewed in the unit from tasting and smelling burnt, allow
it to cool down fully before next use.
Hints For Great Tasting Coffee:
1. A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee
maker as specified in the ‘Cleaning and Care’ section. Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee
maker.
2. Store unused coffee powder in a cool, dry place. After opening a packet of coffee powder reseal
it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
3. For an optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before
brewing.
4. Do not reuse coffee powder since this will greatly reduce the coffee flavour. Reheating coffee is
not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavour immediately after brewing.
5. Clean the coffee maker when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface
of brewed, black coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the coffee powder.
6. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.

Can I put the carafe in
the microwave? No. NEVER put the carafe in the microwave or on a hotplate.
