washerofthesamesizeand type.
ADD NEWOIL–Inserta
funnel(ifneeded)intothe
oil fillerpipe.Slowlyadd
thecorrectamountofoil to
thevehicle(checkthe
Owner's Manualforoil
capacitywithfilterchange).
Reinstall theoil cap.

Refertoyour
Owner's Manualforthe
recommendedengineoil.
NOTE
:
Raisethefrontofthevehicleifthedrainpandoesn’t fit
undertheengineorifyou can'treachtheoil drainplug and
filter.Properlychockthereartireswhenraising thefrontofthe
vehicle.Useafloorjackand sturdyjackstands.NEVERGET
UNDERAVEHICLESUPPORTEDONLY BYAJACK.Unless you
havetheproperequipmentand tools,haveyourToyotaDealer
Service Departmentchangetheoil and filter.

REMOVE OILFILLERCAP.LOCATE
THEOILDRAINPLUG UNDER
THEENGINE–Position theoil
drainpanunderthedrainplug,
thenremovetheplug slowlyusing
thepropermetricsocket.Allow
theoil todrainfor4-6minutes.
!WARNING
:
Theengineoil will
behot.Avoidskincontactwith
theusedengineoil.
NOTE
:
RefertoyourOwner's
Manualfortherecommended
engineoil type.

REPLACE THEOILDRAINPLUG ANDTIGHTENSECURELY
BUTDO
NOT
OVER-TIGHTEN–Threadthedrainplug byhand
firsttoavoidcross threading.

CHANGETHEOILFILTER–
Position theoil drainpan
underthefilter,thenslowly
removethefilterusing the
filterwrench
(counterclockwise).
!WARNING
:
Since thefilter
containshotoil,usearagor
papertowelifthefilteristoo
hottothetouch.After
removal,turnthefilterupside
downand drainthe
remaining oil intothedrain
panfor5-10 minutes.Place
theusedfilterintoaplastic
bagand zipitclosed.Wipe
up anyoil spillson thesideof
theengine.
NOTE
:
Verify theoldgasketis
removedand notstucktothe
engine.

INSTALL THENEWFILTER–
Cleanthefiltergasket
contactsurface on the
engine.Checkthegasket
seating byrotating thegasket
inthefilterbase.Donot
install unless thegasketis
fullyseated.Useafingerto
wipecleanoil on thefilter
gasket,theninstall and
tightenthefilteruntil the
gasketcontactstheseatofthefiltermount.Tighten(clockwise)
anadditional3/4turn.DO
NOT
OVER-TIGHTEN
.

CHECK FORLEAKAGE–Makesureeverything hasbeen
removedfromtheenginecompartmentand underthe
vehicle.Starttheengineand run itforthree minutes.
Thelowoil warning lightmaygo ONmomentarilyuntil
oil pressurebuilds.EngineOFF,removethekeyand check
forleaksfromtheoil drainplug and filter.

CHECK THEOILLEVEL–Theoil levelshouldbeatornearthe
full markon thedipstick.If slightlylow,waituntil theengineis
cool,thenrechecktheoil leveland add asnecessary.
!WARNING
:
Donotoverfill.Seriousdamageorenginefailure
mayresult.
!WARNING
:
Donotpourusedoil ontotheground orintoa
storm drainorsewer.Itisenvironmentallyunsafeand illegal.
Putusedoil intoaplasticcontainerand takeittoaservice
station,recycling centeroryourToyotaDealerService
Departmentforrecycling.USEDOILMAYCONTAINHEAVY
METALSANDISTOXIC.Place theusedfilter,soiledragsor
papertowelsintoaplasticbagand disposeofproperly.DO
NOTPUTTHEMINTOAN INCINERATORORTRASH
COMPACTOR.
