This vehicle belongs to the utility vehicle class. Utility
vehicles have asignificantly higher rollover rate than other
types of vehicles. This vehicle will handle and maneuver
differently from an ordinary
passenger car because it is
designed
for off-road use also. In addition, this vehicle
has ahigher ground clearance and center of gravity than
that of an ordinary passenger car. This vehicle design
feature causes this type of vehicle to be more likely to

The key works in every lock.
Since the side doors and back door can
be locked without akey, you should al-
ways carry aspare key in case you acci-
dentally lock your key inside the vehicle.

your wallet, not in the
vehicle.
If you should lose your keys or if you
need additional keys, duplicates can be
made by aToyota dealer using the key
number.
We recommend you to write down the key
number and keep it in safe place.
Side doors
LOCKING WITH KEY
Turn the key towards the front
of the
vehicle to lock and towards the back to
unlock.
On vehicles with apower door lock sys-
tem, locking
the driver's door locks all the
other doors simultaneously. To unlock all
the doors simultaneously, unlock
the driv-
er's door. The back door will also be con-
trolled at the same time.

prevent the driver and passengers
from being thrown out from

Power windows
The windows can be operated with the
switch on each side door.
The power windows work when the ignition
switch is in the "ON" position.
OPERATING THE DRIVER'S WINDOW
Use
the switch on the driver's door.
Normal operation: The window moves as
long as you hold
the switch.
To open: Lightly push down the switch.
To close: Pull up the switch.

Automatic operation (to open only):
Push the switch completely down and then
release it. The window will fUlly open.
To
stop the window partway, lightly pull the
switch up and then release it.
For driver's use
Power windows
The windows can be operated with the
switch on each side door.
The power windows work when the ignition

lock the vent windows as well as the

& CAUTION
To avoid serious personal injury, you
must do the following.
• Always make sure the heads, hands
and other parts of the bodies of all
occupants are kept completely in-
side the vehicle before you close
the power windows. If someone's
neck, head or hands gets caught in
a closing window, it could result in
a serious injury. When anyone
closes the power windows, be sure
that they operate the windows safe-
ly.
•
When small children are in the ve-
hicle, never let them use the power
window switches without supervi-
sion. Use the "WINDOW LOCK"
switch to prevent them from making
unexpected use of the switches.
•Never leave small children alone in
the vehicle, especially with the igni-
tion key still inserted. They could
use the power window switches and
get trapped in a window. Unat-
tended children can become in-
volved in serious accidents.
PASSENGER'S
THEOPERATING
WINDOW
Use the switch on the passenger's
door. The driver's door also has
switches that control the passenger's
window:
The window moves as long as you hold
the switch.

When small children are in the ve-
hicle, never let them use the power
window switches without supervi-
sion. Use the "WINDOW LOCK"
switch to prevent them from making
unexpected use of the switches.
•Never leave small children alone in
the vehicle, especially with the igni-
tion key still inserted. They could
use the power window switches and
get trapped in a window. Unat-
tended children can become in-
volved in serious accidents.
