Automatic transmission (if equipped)
*The vehicle must be on and the brake pedal depressed to shift from Park.
The initial shift range in “S” mode is set automatically to 5 or 4 according to vehicle
speed.
Selecting shift ranges using “S” mode restricts the upper limit of the possible gear
ranges, controls engine braking forces and prevents unnecessary upshifting.
Shift the shift lever to “S” position from “D” position.
+ : Upshift (push and release)
- : Downshift (pull and release)
Downshifting increases power going uphill, or provides engine braking downhill. For
best fuel economy during normal driving conditions, always drive with the shift lever
in the “D” position.
