2. Introduction
The Transtector MDD Series Ethernet Isolators create an electrical barrier
that allows for high-speed bi-directional data to pass. They have been
designed for compliance with the European Medical Device Directive
EN60601-1 general requirements for safety. When properly installed,
these products provide electrical isolation between vital equipment and
areas where electrical power conductors could accidentally contact
the network cable. The user is responsible to ensure all requirements
that apply to their particular application are also met. Ethernet Cable &
Connector Note: To support adequate electrical isolation for safety, these
products are designed to be connected with unshielded twisted pair cable
types Cat5, 5e, 6, 6A. Extra care must be taken if a shielded cable is used.
3. Installation
a. Turn o󰀨 the connected equipment if possible. If it is NOT possible to
turn o󰀨 the connected equipment, be sure to handle only one connector
at a time.
b. Connect the Cat 5, 5e, 6, 6A Ethernet cable from the network to the
RJ45 jack on the isolator labelled ‘To Network Port’.
c. Connect the Cat 5, 5e, 6, 6A Ethernet cable from the local equipment
to the RJ45 jack on the isolator labelled ‘To Local Port’.
d. Ensure that the network connection is restored and data tra󰀩c ows
as expected.
e. The installation is complete
