Requirements
Kenwood AUX Ready Radio
Introduction
Just because you own an older radio does not mean you have to settle for old
technology. The IP-KNW allows users to connect and play their Apple 30-pin
dock devices to Kenwood AUX Ready radios. The iP-KNW adapter updates all
1999-Up Kenwood Aux ready radios to also play and charge Apple 30-pin
devices including iPods, iPhones and Tablets. Installing this adapter requires
sacrificing the Kenwood CD changer or any other Kenwood accessory, but with
the storage capacity of these new devices sacrificing the CD changer should be
an easy decision.
Installation
1. Remove radio from dashboard to gain access to the connector.
2. To remove please follow the specific radio instruction manual (some
require special removal keys not included).
3. With radio removed disconnect any accessory connected to 13-pin port
(See Fig. 1)
Warning: Disconnected device will no longer function. Kenwood KCA-S220A
switcher required for Kenwood radios to support two simultaneous
connections.

Frequently asked questions & troubleshooting
1. Which Kenwood radios are compatible with the IP-KNW?
Ever since 1999 Kenwood began adding auxiliary functionality to some but
not all radios. They are a few things you can check to verify compatibility:
a. First, verify radio has a 13-pin connector
b. Check that “AUX INPUT” is listed in “Switching mode” or “Selecting the
source” section of radio manual (See Fig. 3)
c. Check if radio manual list compatibility with Kenwood KCA-S210A or CA-
C1Ax accessories
2. My Kenwood radio has a 13-pin connector, does this mean it is
compatible with the IP-KNW?
NO! The 13-pin connector does not mean the IP-KNW is compatible. In
addition to 13-pin port, radio must be “AUX Ready”and meet requirements
in question #1.
3. Does the IP-KNW display text on Kenwood radios?
NO! The IP-KNW will not display text on radio screen.
4. Will I be able to control Apple device from Kenwood radio?
NO! it is not possible to control Apple device from radio buttons. Use apple
device built-in control to access music files and display
