Digital Steam Iron

Please follow all the precautions listed below for safety and to reduce
the risk of re, injury or electrical shock.
Read all the instructions before operating the iron and keep them for future refer-
ence. If you pass the product on to a third party, include these instructions.
Unplug the iron from the mains supply when not in use, and before emptying,
lling, or cleaning.
Do not touch the soleplate of the iron if it is hot.
Always hold the appliance by the handle.
Keep the appliance well away from surfaces and objects that can be damaged by
heat.
Ensure there is adequate room to operate the iron.
Ensure that the iron cannot fall into water.
Do not immerse the connecting cord in any liquid.
Do not let the connecting cord overhang the edge of the work surface or allow it to
touch hot surfaces or sources of heat or ame.
If any part of this appliance is damaged or malfunctions in any way, or the connect-
ing cord or mains plug is broken do not continue to use it. Seek expert assistance.
Do not use the iron if the cord insulation or conductors are visibly damaged.
Do not use the iron if water is leaking from it.
Do not leave the iron face down at any time. Stand it upright on its heel, on a level
heatproof surface.
Do not use outdoors or in damp or wet conditions.
When placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is
placed is stable.
Do not use this iron for professional laundry services.
Do NOT use this appliance for any purpose not covered by the instructions.
Use caution when turning the iron upside down, there may be hot water in the
water tank.
Use only with a purpose-built ironing board.
Observe all ironing instructions and ironing temperature dot settings given by the
garment manufacturer.These are normally on a label or labels inside the garment.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of this appli-
ance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Parents must warn children not to touch hot appliance parts.
The iron must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply
mains.
Do not use this iron if it is dropped, has visible signs of damage or is not
watertight.
Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water or steam. Exercise
care when handling this appliance!

Before using this appliance ensure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the
same as that indicated on the appliance.
The means of disconnecting this appliance from the mains supply is the mains plug.
This should be unobstructed and readily operable at all times

Unpacking Your Iron
Unpack the iron carefully. If you dispose of the packaging, do so having regard to any
recycling regulations in your area.
The packaging contains: one Tricity Steam Iron; One ller cup
If any item is missing or damaged: please contact the Tesco store where you purchased
the item, or your nearestTesco store. Please have your receipt ready when you call.
Important Special Features of Your Iron
The ceramic soleplate (11) of the iron makes ironing easier.To protect the soleplate do not
use abrasives to clean the iron. Avoid running the iron over metal surfaces.
Anti-Drip system: This prevents water escaping from the soleplate when the iron is cold.
During use, the anti drip system may emit a loud clicking sound, particularly when heating
up or cooling down. This is normal and indicates the system is functioning correctly.
Anti-Scale system: The built-in anti-scale cartridge reduces the build-up of lime scale
which occurs during steam ironing and will prolong the working life of your iron. However
the anti-scale cartridge will not completely stop the natural process of lime scale build-up
so always empty the water after use and self-clean the iron regularly (see last page).
Auto Shut-O: When the iron is unattended and connected to the mains supply, it
will shut o automatically after a period (See P7). The screen indicates as shown:
Ironing Temperatures
The ironing instructions are attached to the article on a label showing a symbol of an iron).
Always follow these ironing instructions.The indications on the iron’s digital LCD screen and
the IroningTable below will help you.
If there are no ironing instructions but you know the fabric, use the table below.The table
is valid only for the actual materials and does not take account of any nish applied to the
fabric.Textiles to which a nish has been applied should be ironed at lower temperatures.
Sort fabrics to be ironed into groups according to temperature; wool with wool, cotton with
cotton, etc. Iron articles requiring low temperature settings rst and progress to higher ones.
Wait for about three minutes before ironing heat sensitive fabrics.Temperature adjustment
needs certain time to reach the required level no matter it is higher or lower.
Note: Do not iron garments that are dirty or stained. The heat may set the stain.
Iron delicate fabrics (silk, wool, velour, etc.) with an ironing cloth to prevent shine marks.
Filling the Iron
DO NOT use water containing softeners,
perfumes or additives as these may
damage the iron irreparably.
• Ensuretheironisunpluggedfromthe
mains. Open the water ller. Fill carefully
with fresh water using the supplied ller
cup. Do not ll the iron above the MAX
mark. If you live in a hard water area, use
distilled or de-mineralised water.

Using Your Iron For The First Time
1. Remove any protective lms or stickers from the soleplate and the body if any.
2. Unwind and straighten the power cord.
3. Fill the iron as described in“Filling the iron”.
4: Pass the iron over a clean cotton cloth before using it for the rst time.
Setting The Temperature
1. Connect the iron to a suitable mains supply outlet.
2. The iron will“Beep”and the LCD screen displays all logos for a second then turns o.
3. Press the“Temperature up / ON OFF”button once to switch the iron on.
4. Press the“temperature up”button repeatedly to increase the temperature setting from
1 to 9.With each press the setting changes up and the iron“beeps”
5. Press the“temperature down”button repeatedly to decrease the temperature setting.
With each press the setting changes down and the iron“beeps”.
7. When the iron is heating up or cooling down the number blinks.The steam
icon ” “ displays in settings 5 to 9 indicating that steam ironing may be used.
8. When the correct temperature has been reached the iron will“beep”and the
number will stop blinking.
9. The iron is now ready for use.
Note: Some parts have been lightly greased and the iron might smoke slightly when switched
on for the rst time. After a short while, this will cease. To switch o the appliance:
Depress and hold the“Temperature up / ON OFF button”for 2 seconds.The LCD screen will go
blank with a beep. Now unplug from the mains.
Dry Ironing
1. Fill and connect the iron to the mains supply outlet.
2. The iron will“Beep”and the LCD screen displays all
logos for a second then turns o.
3. Set the temperature to the required garment setting .
4. Wait until the correct temperature has been reached.
5. Turn the Variable Steam / Self-Cleaning Knob OFF.
Steam Ironing
1. Fill and connect the iron to the mains supply.
2. The iron will“Beep”and the LCD screen
displays all logos for a second then turns o.
3. Set the temperature to a steam setting of 5 or
higher to suit the garment.
4. Wait until the correct temperature is reached.
5. Turn the Variable Steam / Self-Cleaning Knob
to give the required amount of steam.
Warning: the iron gives o steam
continuously only if you hold the
iron horizontally.You can stop the
continuous steam by placing the iron
in a vertical position or by moving the
steam selector to the OFF position.

Shot of Steam Button
This feature may be used during steam or dry ironing but only when the iron is at highest
settings.
Press the Shot of Steam button to release
a surge of steam. You may need to press
the button a few times to prime the
system. Wait a few seconds for the steam
to penetrate the fabric before pressing the
button again.
Use no more than 3 bursts at any time.
Excessive use of this feature will cause
the iron to cool, and the setting number
on the LCD screen will blink. If this
happens, wait for number to go steady.
before using the feature again.
Vertical Shot of Steam
Set the iron to its highest temperature and wait
for the pilot light to go out.
Set the iron vertical. Hold the iron away from you
and 15 – 30 centimetres from the garment.
Press the Shot of Steam Button once. Steam pen-
etrates into the garment removing the wrinkles.
For stubborn wrinkles: set the iron back on its
stand and wait a few seconds. Repeat the proce-
dure once more. Most wrinkles can be removed
within three presses.
Warning: DO NOT allow anyone to come near you during this process.
NEVER allow steam to get anywhere near your body or clothing or apply steam to clothes
or fabrics that are being worn by human or pets. DANGER OF SCALDING.
Hold the iron facing away from you at all times. DO NOT OVERREACH or operate the iron
while standing on a ladder etc.
Spray Button
Press the spray button to spray water on the material. It
may be used for steam or dry ironing.
To avoid staining, do not use the spray on silk or synthet-
ics, and be careful when you iron delicate fabrics.
Note: For Spray and Shot of Steam functions to operate,
the water tank must be at least one-quarter full. If
these features stop working place the iron on its stand
and ll the water tank.
During Ironing:
In between operations always stand the iron on its heel.
NEVER leave the iron face down.
During use, the anti drip system may emit a loud clicking sound, particularly when the iron
heats up or cools down. This is normal and indicates that the system is functioning correctly.

Advanced Operation

Auto Shut-O
The Auto shut-o feature will operate automatically when the iron is unattended and it is
connected to a mains supply outlet.
Auto Shut-O In the Horizontal Position.
1. The iron will switch o automatically around 30 Sec if the iron is immobile in the
ironing position (horizontal).
2. The pause symbol will start blinking on the LCD display with a”beep”sound
and the LCD back light will switch o after 5sec.
3. Simply move the iron to set it back on
Auto Shut-O In the Vertical Position
1. The iron will switch o automatically after about 8 minutes if the iron is left on its heel
rest position (vertical).
2. The pause symbol will start blinking on the LCD display with a”beep”sound
and the LCD back light will switch o after 5 sec.
3. Simply move the iron to set it back on.
Note:The iron will take about 60 seconds to reach its former soleplate temperature.
After you have nished ironing:
Set the steam control to minimum.
Switch the iron o at the mains and unplug.
Stand the iron on its heel and let the iron cool down fully.
When the iron is cool:
Invert the iron, open the ller and pour away the excess
water from the tank.
When pouring away the water, gently shake the iron to
remove any loose particles from the tank.
Self Cleaning
After the steaming function has been used for 8 hours the ”self clean”icon
will indicate on the LCD Screen.
You should always self clean your iron when you see the icon light up.
1. Half ll the water tank
2. Place the iron upright
3. Connect to the mains supply outlet and turn on the iron.
4. Select the setting to 9(max) on the LCD screen.
5. When the setting number stops ashing on the LCD: Press and hold the
“Temperature up/ ON OFF button”for 2 sec - the LCD display will turn o with a beep sound.
6. Disconnect the iron from the mains supply.
7. Hold the iron horizontally over a sink.
8. Turn and hold the Steam Control/Self-
Cleaning Knob to the Self Clean position.
9. Steam and boiling hot water will drain
from the holes on the soleplate washing
away the scales and minerals that have built
up inside the steam chamber.
10. Gently move the iron back and forth
until the water tank is empty.
11. When Self-Cleaning is complete, release the Steam Control/Self-Cleaning Knob.
12. Rest your steam iron back on its heel rest and allow to fully cool down.
13. Wipe the soleplate with a cold damp cloth.
14. When the iron gets cool completely, store it vertically in a safe place.

Conclusion
Care and Cleaning
Unplug the iron from the mains and allow it to cool down fully.
Cleaning: To remove starch or other deposits from the soleplate, apply a small amount of
mild cleaner to a damp cloth, forming a paste on the cloth. Gently rub the soleplate, then
wipe with a moist cloth.
The body of the iron may now be cleaned with a barely damp cloth and then dried
thoroughly. Do not wet the appliance body, cord or mains plug.
CAUTION: Never use scouring pads, abrasives or harsh cleaners on the iron body or the
soleplate.
Storage
When not in use the iron should be securely stored out of the reach of children. Store the
iron on its heel. Do NOT store the iron on its soleplate or you may damage the nish.
Loosely loop the cord without kinking or straining it. Do not wrap the cord tightly around
the body of the iron.
After storage, always ensure the cord is fully unwound and and kinks are straightened out to
prevent internal damage to the cord.
Warranty
Your Tricity iron is covered by a warranty for 12 months from the date of purchase. If a fault
develops during this period, please return the unit to your nearestTesco store together with
the original receipt as proof of purchase. This warranty in no way aects your consumer
rights.
