INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the TruLink®USB to 2-Port Serial Adapter. This USB to Serial Adapter provides an external plug-and-play solution to add up to two RS-232
serial devices to a USB-enabled computer. Many newer computers, particularly laptop computers and handheld devices, no longer include the legacy serial ports, and
desktop computers have reduced the number of serial ports. Users with serial devices may find themselves unable to communicate with installed equipment. The USB to
Serial Adapter is a great solution for connecting those legacy devices to a new computer. The two DB9 serial ports ensure you’ll have the connections you need, when
you need them. We recommend that you read this manual thoroughly and retain for future reference.

NSTALLATION
Step 1: Connect your Serial peripheral device to a DB9
input on the adapter,
Step 2: Insert the driver CD into your computer’s CD
Drive, then connect the USB cable from the adapter to an
available USB port on the computer.
Step 3: The New Hardware Wizard should appear. Click
on the radio button for Install the software automatically,
and then click on Next. The computer will then pull the
driver files from the CD, this may take several minutes.
Step4: Once the files have been copied from the CD to
the computer, you will see a screen that has a Finish
button at the bottom. Click on the Finish button to
complete the installation.
VERIFYING DEVICE INSTALLATION
To verify device installation the adapter must be
connected to the computer and you must check for the
device in Device Manager. The easiest way to access
Device Manager is to click on Start, right click on My
Computer/Computer, and then select Properties. This will
open the System Properties window. Within the System
Properties window in XP you will need to click on the
Hardware Tab, and then click on the Device Manager
Button. In Vista and 7 there will be a link in the top left
corner, simply click that link to open the Device Manager.
The adapter should appear in Device Manager under Port
(COM & LPT) as 2 separate USB Serial Ports.
If you would like to uninstall the adapter from the
computer, then you will need to go to the Device Manager
as explained above. Right-click on each USB Serial Port
listing created by the adapter, and then select Uninstall.

Do not plug the unit in any outlet that does not have enough
current to allow the device to function. Refer to the
specifications in this manual for power level of the unit.
Liquid: If this unit or its corresponding power adapter has had
liquid spilled on or in it, do not attempt to use the unit. Do not
attempt to use this product in an outdoor environment as
elements such as rain, snow, hail, etc. can damage the product.
In case of a storm, it is recommended that you unplug this
device from the outlet.
Avoid placing this product next to objects that produce heat
such as portable heaters, space heaters, or heating ducts.

attempt to open this product and expose the internal circuitry. If
you feel that the product is defective, unplug the unit and refer
