1. Introduction
This installation manual shall be used in conjunction with the installation manual of the alarm con-
trol panel to which the HSM2955(R) is connected. Disconnect power and telephone line before
installing the module.

WARNING:HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect AC power
and telephone lines prior to servicing.
CAUTION! Do not route wiring over the HSM2955(R)
module. Maintain at least 1” (25.4mm) separation. A min-
imum distance of 1/4”(6.4 mm) must be maintained at
all points between power limited and non-power lim-
ited wiring. All circuits are classified for UL install-
ations as Power Limited/Class II Power Limited,
except for the battery leads which are not power lim-
ited. Do not route any wiring over circuit boards.

2. Installation
2.1 HSM2955(R) Installation
The HSM2955(R) module must be installed by Service Persons only. It must be installed in a metal
cabinet properly grounded. It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure a degree of protection for the
equipment such that no access to the Telecommunications Network Voltage (TNV) circuit is given
to the end user. The metallic cabinet must be secured to the building structure before operation. A
proper ground connection must be provided for the metal cabinet. Internal wiring must be routed
in a manner that prevents:
lexcessive strain on wire and on terminal connections
lloosening of terminal connections
ldamage to conductor insulation

3. Privacy
The HSM2955(R) / HSM2955(R) module was designed to adhere to applicable privacy regulations
and only processes data needed for the primary functionality of the device. Before using the mod-
ule you will be asked to provide consent with processing of the personal data that the module may
capture. Note that the module records audio to secure the best functionality of the device. The
recordings are processed securely and automatically erased on a periodic basis. Based on the loc-
ation of the module you may have the obligation to issue a notice about using it. The data recorded
through the HSM2955(R) module are processed and maintained primarily by the data controller.
Data controller is the entity that provides [monitoring] services to you. You have the right to
enquire about your data with them. For more information about their privacy practices please con-
tact the data controller/monitoring service provider. For more details about Tyco privacy practices
please visit our website http://www.tyco.com/privacy. Please refer to Section 7 for a consent form

Limited Warranty
DigitalSecurity Controls(DSC) warrantsthat fora periodof 12months fromthe date of
purchase, the product shall befree of defects inmaterials andworkmanship under normal
useandthat in fulfilment of any breachof suchwarranty, DSC shall, at its option, repair or
replacethedefective equipment uponreturn of theequipment toitsrepair depot. This war-
ranty appliesonly todefects inparts andworkmanship andnot todamage incurredin ship-
pingor handling, or damage due to causesbeyond the control of DSC such as lightning,

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. ThisEULAgrants Youthefollowingrights:
(a)Software Installationand Use - For eachlicense You acquire, You mayhave only one
copyof theSOFTWAREPRODUCT installed.
(b) Storage/Network Use - The SOFTWARE PRODUCT may not be installed,
accessed, displayed, run, shared or used concurrently on or from different computers,
includingaworkstation, terminalor other digitalelectronicdevice("Device"). Inother words,
if You have severalworkstations, You will haveto acquire alicense for each workstation
wheretheSOFTWAREwillbeused.
(c)Backup Copy - Youmay makeback upcopies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, but
Youmay onlyhaveonecopyper licenseinstalledat anygiventime. Youmay usetheback up
copysolelyfor archival purposes. Except as expressly providedinthis EULA, Youmay not
otherwisemake copiesof the SOFTWAREPRODUCT, includingthe printed materials
accompanyingtheSOFTWARE.
2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS
(a) Limitations on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation and Disassembly - You may not
reverseengineer, decompile, or disassemblethe SOFTWAREPRODUCT, except and
only totheextent that suchactivity isexpresslypermittedbyapplicablelaw notwithstanding
thislimitation. Youmaynot makeanychangesor modificationstotheSoftware, without the
written permission of an officer of DSC. You may not remove any proprietary notices,
marks or labels from the Software Product. You shall institute reasonable measures to
ensurecompliancewiththetermsandconditionsof this EULA.
(b) Separation of Components - The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as a single
product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one
HARDWAREunit.
(c) Single INTEGRATED PRODUCT - If You acquired this SOFTWARE with
HARDWARE, then the SOFTWAREPRODUCT is licensedwith the HARDWARE
asa single integrated product. In this case, theSOFTWARE PRODUCT may only be
usedwiththeHARDWAREasset forthinthis EULA.
(d)Rental- Youmay not rent, lease or lend theSOFTWARE PRODUCT. Youmay not
makeit availabletoothersor post it onaserver orwebsite.
(e)SoftwareProduct Transfer- Youmay transfer allof Your rightsunderthis EULAonly as
part of apermanent saleor transfer of the HARDWARE, provided Youretain no copies,
Youtransferallof theSOFTWAREPRODUCT (includingallcomponent parts, the media
andprintedmaterials, anyupgrades andthisEULA), andprovidedtherecipient agreestothe
termsof this EULA. If the SOFTWAREPRODUCT is anupgrade, any transfer must
alsoincludeallprior versions of theSOFTWARE PRODUCT.
(f) Termination - Without prejudice to any otherrights, DSC mayterminate this EULA if
Youfailtocomplywiththetermsandconditions of thisEULA. Insuchevent, Youmust des-
troyallcopiesof theSOFTWARE PRODUCT andallof its component parts.
(g)Trademarks - ThisEULA does not grant You anyrights in connectionwith any trade-
marks orservicemarksof DSC oritssuppliers.
3. COPYRIGHT
AlltitleandintellectualpropertyrightsinandtotheSOFTWARE PRODUCT (includingbut
not limited to any images, photographs, and text incorporated into the SOFTWARE
PRODUCT), the accompanying printed materials, andany copies of the SOFTWARE
PRODUCT, areowned byDSC orits suppliers.Youmay notcopy theprinted materials
accompanyingtheSOFTWARE PRODUCT. Alltitleandintellectualpropertyrights inand
tothecontent whichmaybe accessedthrough useof the SOFTWARE PRODUCT are
thepropertyof therespectivecontent ownerand maybeprotected byapplicable copyright
or other intellectualpropertylaws andtreaties. ThisEULAgrants Younorightstouse such
content. Allrightsnot expresslygrantedunder this EULAarereservedbyDSC andits sup-
pliers.
4. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS
Youagreethat Youwillnot export or reexport theSOFTWAREPRODUCT toany coun-
try, person, orentity subject toCanadianexport restrictions.
5. CHOICE OF LAW: ThisSoftware LicenseAgreement is governed by the laws of the
Provinceof Ontario, Canada.
6. ARBITRATION
AlldisputesarisinginconnectionwiththisAgreement shallbedeterminedbyfinaland binding
arbitrationinaccordance withthe ArbitrationAct, andthe partiesagree tobe boundby the
arbitrator'sdecision. Theplace of arbitrationshall beToronto, Canada, andthelanguage of
thearbitrationshallbeEnglish.
7. LIMITED WARRANTY
(a) NO WARRANTY
DSC PROVIDES THE SOFTWARE "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY. DSC
DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR
REQUIREMENTS OR THAT OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE WILL BE
UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
(b) CHANGES IN OPERATIN G ENVIRONMENT
DSC shall not be responsible for problems caused by changes in the operating char-
acteristicsof the HARDWARE, or for problems in the interaction of the SOFTWARE
PRODUCT withnon-DSC-SOFTWARE orHARDWAREPRODUCTS.
(c)LIMITATION OF LIABILITY; WARRANTY REFLECTSALLOCATION OF RISK
IN ANY EVENT, IF ANYSTATUTE IMPLIESWARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS
NOT STATED IN THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT, DSC'S ENTIRE LIABILITY
UNDER ANY PROVISION OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT SHALL BE
LIMITED TO THEGREATER OF THEAMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO
LICENSE THE SOFTWARE PRODUCT AND FIVE CANADIAN DOLLARS
(CAD$5.00). BECAUSE SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE
EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR

Aplug and jackused to connect this equipment tothe premises wiringand telephone net-

RingerEquivalenceNumber(REN)
TheREN isusedtodeterminethenumber of devices that maybeconnectedtoa telephone
line. ExcessiveRENsonatelephonelinemay result inthedevicesnot ringinginresponse to
anincomingcall. Inmost but not allareas, thesumof RENs shouldnot exceedfive(5.0). To
becertain of the numberof devicesthat maybe connectedto aline, asdetermined by the
totalRENs, contact the localTelephone Company. For products approvedafter July 23,
2001, theREN forthis product ispart of theproduct identifierthat hastheformat
US: AAAEQ##TXXXX. Thedigitsrepresented by ##arethe REN without adecimal point

Incidenceof Harm
If thisequipment HSM2955causes harmtothetelephonenetwork, thetelephone company
willnotify youin advancethat temporarydiscontinuance of service maybe required. But if
advancenoticeisnot practical, theTelephone Companywillnotify thecustomeras soon as
possible. Also, youwillbeadvisedof your right tofileacomplaint withtheFCC if you believe
it isnecessary.
Changes inTelephoneCompanyEquipment or Facilities
TheTelephoneCompany may makechanges inits facilities, equipment, operationsor pro-
cedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the Telephone

Alarmdialingequipment must beable toseizethe telephonelineand placeacall inan emer-
gencysituation. It must beabletodothisevenif otherequipment (telephone, answeringsys-
tem, computer modem, etc.) alreadyhas thetelephone linein use. To doso, alarm dialing
equipment must beconnectedtoaproperlyinstalled RJ-31Xjack that iselectrically in series
withandaheadof allotherequipment attachedtothesametelephoneline. Proper installation

Ce manuel d’installation doit être utilisé conjointement au manuel d’installation de la centrale à
laquelle le module HSM2955(R) est connecté. Débranchez l’alimentation et la ligne téléphonique
avant d’installer le module.

AVERTISSEMENT :HAUTE TENSION! Débranchez
l'alimentation secteur et les lignes téléphoniques avant
les interventions.
ATTENTION ! Ne pas acheminer le câblage au-dessus
du module HSM2955 (R). Garder un espace de sépa-
ration d’au moins 25,4mm (1”). Un espace de sépa-
ration de 6,4mm (1/4”) minimum doit être respecté à
tous les points entre le câblage à puissance limitée et
non limitée. Tous les circuits sont classés pour les ins-
tallations UL comme à puissance limitée/puissance limi-
tée de classe II, à l’exception des conducteurs de la
batterie qui ne sont pas à puissance limitée. Ne pas faire
passer des câbles au- dessus de la carte de circuit
imprimé.

2. Installation
2.1 Installation du module HSM2955(R)
Le module HSM2955(R) doit être installé exclusivement par une personne qualifiée. Il doit être ins-
tallé dans une armoire métallique correctement mise à la terre. Il est de la responsabilité de l’ins-
tallateur de garantir un degré de protection de l’équipement de telle façon qu’aucun accès au circuit
sous tension du réseau de télécommunication (TNV) ne soit possible par l’utilisateur. L’armoire
métallique doit être fixée à une paroi du bâtiment avant utilisation. Une mise à la terre correcte doit
être réalisée sur l’armoire métallique. Le câblage interne doit être acheminé de façon à éviter:

DSC. Vous n'avez pasledroit deretirerles notices, les marquesoules étiquettes privatives
duProduit Logiciel. Vous devezinstituer desmesures raisonnables pour assurer la confor-
mitéauxmodalitésdeceCLU.
(b) Séparationdes Composants - LePRODUIT LOGICIELest fournisous licenceen tant
queproduit unique. Sesparties composantes nepeuvent pasêtreséparéespour êtreutilisée

queVousneconserviezaucunecopie, queVous transférieztout lePRODUIT LOGICIEL
(tousles composants, les matériels imprimés et autres, toutes les mises à niveau et ce
CLU), et àconditionquelerécipiendaireaccepteles conditionsdeceCLU. SilePRODUIT
LOGICIELest une miseàniveau, tout transfert doit également inclure toutes les versions
antérieures duPRODUIT LOGICIEL.
(f) Résiliation- Sous réservedetousses autresdroits, DSC seréserveledroit derésilier ce

Tous les titres et droits de propriété intellectuelle associés au PRODUIT LOGICIEL
(notammentmais pas seulement aux images, photographies et textes incorporés dans le
PRODUIT LOGICIEL), les documents imprimés jointset tout exemplairedu PRODUIT
LOGICIELsont la propriétéde DSC et deses fournisseurs. Vous n'avezpas le droit de
fairedes copies des documentsimprimés accompagnant lePRODUIT LOGICIEL. Tous
les titres et droitsde propriétéintellectuelleassociés aucontenu quipeut être accédépar le
biaisduPRODUIT LOGICIELsont lapropriété dupropriétaire respectif du contenuet ils
peuvent être protégés par le droit d'auteur ou autres lois et traités sur la propriété intel-
lectuelle. CeCLU ne Vous octroiepas le droit d'utiliser ces éléments. Tous lesdroitsqui ne

DSC FOURNIT LE LOGICIEL «EN L'ÉTAT» SANS GARANTIE. DSC NE
GARANTIT PAS QUE LE LOGICIEL SATISFERA VOS EXIGENCES OU QUE
L'EXPLOITATION DU LOGICIEL SERA ININTERROMPUE OU SANS
ERREUR.
(b) CHANGEMENTSDU CADRED'EXPLOITATION
DSC ne sera pas responsable des problèmes provoqués par des changements dans les

1. Inleiding
Deze installatiehandleiding moet worden gebruikt in combinatie met de installatiehandleiding van
het beheerpaneel waarop de HSM2955(R) wordt aangesloten. Ontkoppel voor het installeren van de
module de lichtnetaansluiting en telefoonlijn.

WAARSCHUWING: HOGE SPANNING! Ontkoppel
de AC-stroom en telefoonlijnen voorafgaand aan onder-
houd.
LET OP! Leid de bedrading niet via de HSM2955(R)
module. Houd een scheiding van tenminste 25,4 mm (1
inch) aan. Er moet op alle punten een minimale afstand
van 6,4 mm (1/4 inch) tussen stroombegrensde en niet
stroombegrensde bedrading worden aangehouden.
Alle circuits zijn voor UL-installaties geclassificeerd als
stroombegrensd/klasse II vermogensbeperkt, behalve
de batterijkabels, die niet stroombegrensd zijn. Leid
geen bedrading over de printplaten.

2. Installatie
2.1 HSM2955(R) Installatie
De HSM2955(R) module mag alleen door onderhoudspersoneel worden geïnstalleerd. Hij moet in
een goed geaarde metalen kast worden geïnstalleerd. Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de instal-
lateur om een bepaalde mate van bescherming van de apparatuur te garanderen, zodat de eind-
gebruiker geen toegang heeft tot het circuit voor de Telecommunicatienetwerkspanning (TNV). De
metalen kast moet voor het inbedrijfstellen aan de structuur van het gebouw worden bevestigd. Er
moet voor de metalen kast in een goede aardaansluiting worden voorzien. Interne bedrading moet
worden geleid op een manier die het volgende voorkomt:
lovermatige trekbelasting aan bedrading en aansluitklemmen
lhet losraken van aansluitingen op de aansluitklemmen
lschade aan de isolatie van de geleider
